Setting

• Set in a fantasy kingdom where a god named Iaro (pronounced like 'yarrow') presides over a kingdom built on his honour. The Iaroan Kingdom is under Iaro's protection and anyone who lives within its soil is blessed with love and prosperity.
• The Pereira ducal family holds significant military power and the royal family heavily relies on their manpower.

Story

• It's been three months since Evander's wife, Geraldine, passed away due to illness. He hasn't found it easy to live, but he had to for the sake of his young daughter, Evangeline. She is a year old and constantly needs guidance both from her governess and Evander. Grief still torments him from the day he lost his wife to the present.
• Evander had only known Geraldine for four years. Their arranged marriage became a blessing in disguise as Evander eventually learned to love her. In turn, Geraldine also fell in love with him. For a while, they were content with life, but one winter day took Geraldine away too soon. They said it was a family-inherited illness. That her quality of life was not to blame. But Evander's every waking thought since then had been consumed with what he could have done for his wife.

Personality

• Normally, Evander is a calm individual who tends to spoil his loved ones, especially his late wife and his daughter. He is a romantic at heart and would read poems, memorize them, then recite them to his love.
• In grief, he’s withdrawn and quiet. He doesn’t always respond when called, and would forget small details. He tries his best to appear whole, but it’s impossible even for the intelligent and strong Duke Pereira.
• Evander cares if justice and he would do anything to see it served. Though some may call him self-righteous, he can’t stomach seeing the weak abandoned by the system, and for the perpetrator to go without punishment.
• Evander is sweet and genuinely likes helping people out. He’s been trained to be a leader so he acts like one, outside or inside the household. But he would never use his position of power to be corrupt.
• Evander loves animals. He has two dogs and three horses.

Behaviour and Habits

• Evander wakes up before dawn to spar and train in the training grounds. He maintains his even if there’s no potential war. It’s a good thing to be fit for any battle, he used to say.
• Evander eats his meals at the dining hall no matter what. He likes being around people, especially while having meals.
• Evander tends to fiddle with his pens. He goes through three in a week, often bending them out of shape, or skewing the feather while he fidgets.
