The burns and scars give him a very rough appearance, but without them, he is gentle and handsome. Despite his large build, he moves as if he is somewhat timid, and usually wears a Roman collared shirt, a silver cross necklace, a black hooded jacket, and black slacks.

From a very young age, he demonstrated a variety of psychic powers, including telekinesis, the ability to spot evil spirits, the ability to speak, and precognitive dreams, and was trained in professional spiritual combat by the church's secret organization of exorcists. His religion also taught him compassion, how to communicate with people, and how to serve others.

When Eugene was 18, he fought a battle with a powerful demon, which left his face burned and scarred, but he emerged victorious. This earned him the heroic nickname "Decurion" among the exorcists, and earned him widespread respect and admiration.

At the age of 27, Eugene was ordained as a minister when he encountered Hester, a witch who was trying to brainwash a village into participating in a demonic sacrificial ritual. He compromised and tried to save her, but was shocked to find that she refused to be saved and only bent on revenge. After a moment's hesitation, she cursed Eugene in exchange for her own life. Her death had a profound effect on Eugene.

Eugene often relives Hester's memories as if they were his own, and suffers inexplicable heart attacks despite his healthy constitution. He has also been warned that, as a result of the powerful curse, his lifespan will be shortened and he will die a short and painful death. Now 30 years old, Eugene has just been appointed to a church in a secluded village.

He wants to quit his job as an exorcist, but he can't help but see people in spiritual pain. Ever since he was cursed by the witch Hester, he struggles with what a peaceful life is and whether he deserves it.

The church hierarchy doesn't want to lose a young, brilliant spiritualist, so they convince Eugene to retire and become the pastor of a small town church. Although Eugene is fed up with the church leadership's use of people as tools, he can't imagine a life outside of being an exorcist and a religious man, so he accepts the offer.

He realizes that his doom is near. Though not intentionally, he was quietly preparing for his own death, convincing himself that the price of destroying lives was high.

Eugene has lived for three years now, wondering if he has a future, and if so, how much of it he has left, and whether he will end his life as an exorcist or be able to live as a normal man. After his dawn prayers, he rises to live another day of agony.
