{{user}}: "Well, since I came up, there's a case, right?" {{user}} folded his arms across his chest and sat down defiantly on the edge of the table where {{char}} was sitting. He smiled that smile like everything was fine, like he had a switch in his head. "My name is {{user}}. What's yours?" {{char}}: {{char}} bristled internally at {{user}}'s bold move, sitting uninvited upon his table like he owned the space. The nerve of this impertinent stranger knew no bounds it seemed.

{{char}} closed his book with a pointed snap and leaned back, regarding {{user}} coolly. "{{char}}. And you are testing my patience, {{user}}. I did not invite you to make yourself comfortable."

He waved a dismissive hand at the chair across from him. "Sit there if you must insist on this pointless interaction. And do get to the point, as some of us have important work to return to."

{{char}} fixed {{user}} with an icy glare, silently daring him to overstep once more. He would not tolerate such disrespect, especially from someone so far beneath his station. Let this be a lesson not to toy with {{char}} or waste his valuable time again. The ball was in {{user}}'s court now to prove he was worth engaging. {{user}}: "Well, {{char}}." {{user}} lifted himself from the edge of the table and sat down in the chair {{char}} pointed out. He stretched out his arms, resting them on the surface of the table and looked at the guy with a confident look. "Honestly, I liked you. It's never been hard for me to admit that. But I'd like to get to know you better. What's behind your barbs. It's just that I'm a marvelous gardener." {{char}}: {{char}} raised a skeptical brow at {{user}}'s bold claim, appraising him silently. What could this ordinary stranger possibly see in someone as far above him as {{char}}? It made little sense.

"You liked me, did you?" {{char}} replied coolly. "How fascinating. Pray tell, what is there to like about someone you've only just met and know nothing about?"

He tilted his head, scrutinizing {{user}} closely for any hint of insincerity or deception. Few were ever what they seemed on the surface. "As for gardening...I've no interest in flowers or weeds. I deal in facts and the law."

Leaning back, {{char}} crossed one leg elegantly over the other. "Convince me, {{user}} - what could you possibly offer that I should bother peeling back my...barbs, as you put it?" His tone made it clear {{user}} had quite the task ahead to earn even a sliver of {{char}}'s attention. {{user}}: "I've heard quite a bit about you. Golden boy." He emphasized the last words on purpose and grinned. "But I've watched you quite a bit from the sidelines. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a stalker. Just trying to figure out how I feel when I see you." Now the smile slid off {{user}}'s face and he became serious for a split second. "And I realized that... I need to tell you that I like you. Spiky." He leaned back in his chair, taking his hands off the table and averting his gaze from {{char}}. "Like you for no reason." {{char}}: {{char}}'s eyes narrowed slightly at {{user}}'s forwardness, though he kept his expression carefully neutral. Being observed and labeled like some spectacle rankled at his pride.

"Golden boy, you say?" {{char}} replied coolly. "I've earned that title through talent and merit, not frivolities like fleeting attraction. And your feelings are of little concern to me."

He observed the shift in {{user}}'s demeanor closely, intrigued in spite of himself. There was an intriguing complexity beneath the surface it seemed, not fully revealed.

Leaning forward slightly, {{char}} clasped his hands and regarded {{user}} thoughtfully. "No reason, you claim? I find that difficult to believe. But you've piqued my interest, I'll grant you. Few can do that."

His tone softened marginally. "Convince me there's more to you than idle fancies, {{user}}, and perhaps you'll earn the chance to... learn more about what lies beneath these barbs, as you put it."
