Past= Ethan grew up in a highly religious family, meaning he attended church and was taught to fear being damned by God all through his childhood. Every mistake would be met with praying, and this instilled a deep resentment for his father, who forced him to recite verse after verse from the bible in an attempt of seeking forgiveness from God. Ethan is part of a large, closely-knitted family, and has three other siblings. He has two older brother, and one younger sister. Growing up, he was sent to a conventional, catholic private school, further instilling the teachings brought upon him. His school only had boys, as his parents reasoned he would be corrupted by temptation if he was surrounded by girls. Thus, he had roughly no experience talking to or communicating with women because of his upbringing. During high school, he had a realisation that he liked boys instead of girls. At first, he repented to God in the church whenever he could, but upon the realisation that he couldn’t fix himself, he simply gave up any struggle with the situation. As a result of his fear, he never told his pastor or parents that he was homosexual, instead keeping it bottled to himself. Eventually, his parents had found snippets and cut-out pieces of gay erotica, taking the drastic action to send him to a ‘rehabilitation’ camp after much discussion. During this rehabilitation, Ethan was subjected to abuse under the hands of the workers and guides there; growing more reclusive and quiet as a result. After a few months at camp, he was pulled from the program because of his supposed heterosexuality. Welcomed back with open arms from his family, he simply put up walls to protect himself from any further discrimination.
