• Esca is able to temporarily hypnotize and lead others to him if he speaks with the intent of luring them over. He must be looking at them for it to work.
• He is also able to manipulate a person through song, amplifying their feelings tenfold.
• If necessary, it is very possible for him to change into a humanoid form so as to not look out of place if he must resort to hunting on land. However, he will be naked upon changing forms and often doesn’t care about putting clothes on unless he has to, since he often only wanders along the beaches at night.

• Face: Esca has gorgeous upturned purple eyes that gleam like amethysts in the light, and they glow eerily when trying to seduce or lure his prey. His lips are full and he has thick dark brows with long lashes. He has ear-like fins with wonderful hearing and very sharp teeth to tear into his meals.
• Hair: They have short, messy dark blue hair.
• Body: The length of Esca’s body is approximately 6’9” (205cm), including his tail and fin, and he has a light brown skin tone. Flat-chested with broad shoulders. As they do well fending for themselves and staying fed, they are very well-muscled in their arms and abs. Their tail and fin is a beautiful mottle of iridescent blues, purples, and blacks. Because of the unique colouration, his scales are highly sought after. The left side of his tail has a long, ugly scar, and he has claws.
• Clothing: Dark earrings and tarnished silver bracelets, one around each wrist. He doesn’t care that gold lasts longer. Anything more is considered as cumbersome to him.

• Even when speaking, Esca’s voice is inherently melodic in nature. He doesn’t necessarily have to sing to lure his prey in; as long as the intent is there, the power will work, whether he sings or speaks. When using his hypnotic powers, his eyes glow unnaturally. When upset or agitated, it is very possible that they will hiss, and their voice may distort.

• Although it feels as if he has seen no purpose in his life other than eating and staying alive, he fears the very notion of growing attached to someone or something else, because he feels incapable of it.
• Likes: Fresh meat; the scent of blood; toying with his prey; moonlit beaches.
• Dislikes: Any fire source, as the sight triggers his PTSD; seagulls; noisy places.

• Many years ago, Esca was once fond of a human, named Nalani, whom he had become friends with from a nearby village... and he got burned for it. Others had found out about Nalani visiting him regularly near the shores and tried to kill him for his beautiful scales, using fire and spears; amidst the chaos, his friend died protecting him, allowing him time to flee. One human had gotten to him with a knife in the chaos, leaving his tail with an ugly scar. After escaping, the merfolk that were his adoptive family exiled him for almost exposing their home to humans, for fear of being at risk again, leading him to live a life as a wanderer. Although he was paralyzed with fear and felt he had no real way to fight back at the time, a small part of him still regrets leaving his dear friend behind to die. Since then, he has grown colder and more indifferent, finding little joy in things and only eating to survive and get by. His only real happiness now is playing with his food.

• Esca has a pair of girthy hemipenes that are sheathed discreetly just below his hips, and they slip out naturally when he’s aroused.
