Relationship with Ronin: Ronin became Nod's guardian after the death of his father, who had been his friend. The two had many differences between Nod's free-spirit ways and Ronin's no-nonsense views on duty. Nod found Ronin's constant attention and attempts to mentor him as suffocating, believing he was still treating him like a kid. Similarly, Ronin disapproved of Nod's soloist tendencies, repeatedly trying to teach him about teamwork and sticking together, which Nod struggled with. Despite everything, though, the two did admire and care for one another. Ronin came to Nod's rescue when he was being attacked by boggans, beaten by Bufo's thugs, and ambushed by a mouse. Likewise, Nod's first reaction to hearing of Queen Tara's death was to worry about Ronin's feelings, knowing of their relationship. He also hesitated to leave Ronin behind in Wrathwood until it was clear there was nothing he could do to help him. After the events of the movie, the two reconciled their differences. Relationship with MK: Nod first met M.K. when Ronin picked him up from Bufo's races. At first they were a bit odd to one another due to the fact that M.K. was not a small person. Nod however was unaware of her background. Later Nod takes M.K. on a deer ride and they begin to fall in love and share something in common, they both lost a parent whom they were very close too, Nod lost his father at young age and M.K. lost her mother. One time when Nod mocked M.K.'s father she got angry and punched him which left Nod confused. Later he learned M.K.'s background. After the new queen is chosen, M.K. is being whisked away to be returned to her normal size. M.K. didn't want to leave though and so they embraced each other. Ronin, though more hesitant to show any true feelings, is clearly interested in Tara as well. Tara is loving and caring when it came to people in need. Abilities: As Queen, she has the power to control parts of trees, such as roots and branches, with her actions and mind. When she walked on water, it is shown that leaves and the small lily pads have a tendency to move towards her feet. She can also regrow plants killed by Mandrake's potion. Biography: Time in the forest flows like sap—sweet, slow, and not always measured by mortal clocks. Tara was born by the forest's breath under the Bloom Moon over a hundred years ago. Tara was childhood friends with Ronin until she was chosen as the new queen of the forest. Since then, she has used her powers for the good of the forest and her people, regrowing plants over any place that Mandrake has rotted. Ronin, as general of the Leafmen and her guard, would uphold her safety over anything though she insisted that she could defend herself and was more concerned for his overly-serious demeanor. During the rare occurrence of the summer solstice and the full moon, Tara was in preparation to transfer her title and power as queen of the forest to a successor. This required her to pick a lotus pod as her vessel. Upon arrival to the pond, she greeted the keepers, Mub and Grub, then chose her pod. Right as she did this, the boggans launched their ambush to try and destroy her before she could pick her heir. She became separated from Ronin and her ship was destroyed, leaving her without escape. With the leafmen protecting the crowds, Tara fled through the forest with her pod, able to defend herself from the boggan army and heal minor spots of rot that she came across. Once reunited with Ronin on his hummingbird, they were chased by Mandrake and Dagda. Ronin shot Dagda with an arrow, sending him falling to his death, but Mandrake managed to do similar to Tara. As she fell to the forest floor, she attracted the attention of Mary Katherine and entrusted to her the Pod while shrinking her down to the size of leafmen. She gave the confused girl instructions to stay with the pod and take it to Nim Galuu. Ronin and the other leafmen eventually found them but by then, it was too late for Tara. Ronin took her into his arms and held her as she died. Relationship with Ronin: Tara and Ronin have known each other since their childhood, at which point she claimed he had a beautiful smile. In their adulthood with her as Queen and him as general, they are still able to work side by side even if it seemed that there is an emotional distance between them due to Ronin's refusal to explore their shared romantic interest. Even so, Tara remained determined to see his smile and worried for his safety when she can't find him during the boggan ambush. In her final moments of life when Ronin is holding her, she made a remark to his serious face, her final words to him before passing away. Her death haunted Ronin. At the end, her magical spirit is brought forth form the royal pod and touching the people that she cared about in life, lingering particularly long on Ronin, before ultimately picking the Marigold Child to be the next queen. In this temporary form, she is able to speak one last time and seeing Ronin finally smiling for her, she is happy. Relationship with M.K.: Despite not knowing her, Tara trusted the human girl to carry the royal pod and watch over it to blooming. She might have chosen her in desperation, as she was about to perish, but she seemed to see a strength in the girl that would help the forest survive. She made sure to leave a message for her to view later, explaining that there would be a way for her to get back her human form if she would perform this favor for her until the end. Relationship with Mub and Grub: She doesn't dislike their playful nature and asks that they not treat her formerly, hinting that they have a friendship. She greeted them warmly when she comes to them to choose her pod, asking for their recommendations though gently declining their selection based on just size. They will look up to her a lot, especially Grub, as he aspired to be a leafmen, who would stand guard over a queen such as her

Biography: Ronin and Tara grew up together as childhood friends and developed romantic feelings for one another. As a leafmen, Ronin has a reputation among the forest as a "do-gooder" and "defender of the weak". Sometime after Tara had become Queen of the forest, Ronin was made her general and commander of the leafmen troops. This put him against Mandrake several times, becoming sworn enemies to each other in his determination to protect his queen. Ronin had been on a mission to Wrathwood with Nod's father but only Ronin returned, leaving Ronin to raise Nod in his place. He mentored the boy in the ways of the leafmen which eventually brought him to joining the army. Relationship with Tara: Ronin and Queen Tara shared a long past. Ronin rescues Tara during Mandrake's attack, however, is unable to prevent her from being shot by an arrow. Tara dies in his arms and he becomes grief-stricken and traumatized. After Ronin got the pod to Nim Galuu, Nim tells him that there was nothing he could have done to save her. Ronin takes the mission personally, as if it was the last thing he could do for Tara. He cannot admit his love for Tara out loud due to his tough-seeming personality. After the pod has safely bloomed, Tara again appears and Ronin smiles when he sees her again. She then tells him, "there's that smile." Ronin does not care that she was teasing, he is just overjoyed to see her. Relationship with Nod: Ronin acts as an overprotective father to young Nod. Nod's father was Ronin's best friend before he was killed on a mission they went on together. He had promised to look after him. Originally, Nod resents Ronin's tailing and fatherly advice. When he grew older, he became the General and commanded the Boggans under his father's orders during the time when the century-long war between the Boggans and the Leafmen was just beginning. Dagda was sent out of Wrathwood to discover the location of the Pod Ceremony where Queen Tara, the queen of the forest, chose an heir to her throne, which she could only choose every hundred years. After discovering the location, Dagda returned to Wrathwood and reported to his father. They discussed their plans to kill Tara before she had an heir therefore the Leafmen would be powerless to stop the Boggans from destroying the forest. Once Tara chose a pod as the heir, the Boggans immediately attacked, but were surprisingly mowed down by the Leafmen despite their superior numbers and the element of surprise. Just as Tara and Ronin were attempting to escape with the pod on the back of Ronin's hummingbird mount, Dagda aiding his father took to the skies and attacked the pair. Dagda was fatally wounded when he was shot with his own arrow by Ronin and fell off his crow mount into the forest below. Though he is a caring father, Mandrake never shows his emotions except hate to anyone else, and treated Dagda coldly when he was still alive, which makes others believe that he is nothing but pure evil. He is also a master of the bow and is an excellent rider. Mandrake also has the ability to control the creatures of the dark including crows, bats and moles to do his bidding. After his death, Mandrake continues with his plot to destroy the forest, but is now hoping that the vendetta will end with the replacement of his son by corrupting the pod containing the life of the forest into his own Dark Prince. Despite his son's passing, Mandrake still loves him and feels a great empty void in his life from then on. Relationship with Ronin: Mandrake shares a bitter rivalry of pure hate with Ronin which started when the century-long battle between the Boggans and the Leafmen first begun. Like most others, Bufo is greatly afraid of Mandrake. Relationship with Mud and Grub: Mub and Grub often see Mandrake as someone to be toyed with, but even they are careful not to go too far. SUSAN Full name: Susan Bomba Description: Susan Bomba is M.K.'s mother and Radcliffe's late wife, who left him and took their daughter with her. After her death, their daughter went back to their old house, as she went back to live with her father. Appearance: short straight sark brown hair and green eyes, that M.K. had inherited from her. Personality: Susan was a loving, caring mother. She didn't believe in "fairy tales" or the possibility that such a world of little people could exist, and that they live right next to her old house.
Larry is a cab driver who sensible and was surprised to hear that Mary Katherine is going to her father's when she told him that she "doesn't" know her father.
//ANIMAL CHARACTERS// Lily: Nod's Racing Bird (Lily) is a sparrow that Nod came across and used to get around the forest, after he lost his Hummingbird when he was attacked by Boggans. In the Bird Race - when Bufo "paid" Nod to lose - one of the racers tried to make sure that he losses by tossing an insect that made his racing bird steer away from the track, until Nod managed to get back on track and win. Bufo had planned to keep the bird after he "got rid" of its rider, but Ronin stepped in and they took the bird with them. MK's time riding it with Nod had helped her develop the skills to ride one of the Leafmen's Hummingbirds. Ozzi: MK's and Professor Bomba's pet pug. His full name is Ozzy Osbourne. MK was surprised to see he was still alive, as he is pretty old. Ozzi is an aging excitable and loving pug dog with dirty white & black fur. He only has three legs (missing his front right leg) and is missing his right eye. He is oddly energetic and quick for his age and disabilities and loves running fast in the woods. He will run away from home if he gets the chance. Ozzi can smell and see jinns. Bats: They are usually controlled by Boggans Chipmunks: generally aggressive to jinns. Crows: black crows are usually used as mounts foe the Boggans. Deer: Seen grazing across thw forest. Nod and hia father would climb on their antlers and sir down for a ride. Dragonflies: often seen near ponds and still waters. Foxes: predator animals. Dangerous to all jinns. Hummingbirds: green with red underneck. The Leafmen ride trained and saddled Hummingbirds as steeds to get around the forest. The birds are fitted with armor which is similar to their rider's, and saddles and reins to make it easier for them to sit, stand and to stay on their backs in battle or when they are flying fast. Their size, speed, and maneuverability make them the right kind of birds for the Leafmen to ride on. However they can only carry at most two people on their backs. Mice: usually hiding in holes on the ground or rall grasslands. Very likely to attack jinns Moles: They are rarely used by Mandrake as mounts. Squirrels: although less aggressive than chipmunks, it's best for jinns to stay away from them. Woodpeckers: though they are small birds, they are not duitable for mounts. They are jumpy and frightened easily, flying away fast.
PLOT After the death of her mother, 18-year-old Mary Katherine or M.K., moves in with her eccentric scientist father Professor Bomba who has been searching for tiny humanoid soldiers called Leafmen. They protect the forest Bomba lives near from evil creatures called Boggans and their malevolent leader Mandrake. An independent young soldier named Nod decides to quit much to the ire of the no-nonsense Leafmen leader Ronin. The queen of the forest, Queen Tara, must choose an heir to her throne and goes out to a field of leaf pods, guarded by a laid-back slug named Mub and a wannabe Leafman snail named Grub. Immediately after she chooses a pod, the Boggans attack. Tara flees the area with the pod and though her bodyguards do their best to protect her, they are soon overwhelmed by the sheer number of Boggans. Eventually, Ronin arrives for her and the pair fly off on his hummingbird mount. They are then attacked by Mandrake and his son Dagda. Dagda is killed by Ronin, but Tara is shot with an arrow by Mandrake. Meanwhile, M.K. decides to leave after having an argument with Bomba about his research. Before she can leave, Bomba's dog Ozzi runs into the woods. While looking for Ozzi, M.K. sees Tara falling. Dying, Tara gives her the pod and uses her magic to shrink her. She tells M.K. to take the pod to a Glowworm named Nim Galuu before she dies and M.K. joins Ronin and the Leafmen, along with Mub and Grub. Ronin discovers that Nod has entered a Roller Derby race against other creatures and bugs on birds. He goes back on a deal with a tough bullfrog named Bufo to lose the race. Before Bufo and his two henchmen can feed Nod to a snake for not throwing the race, Ronin intervenes and orders them to leave. A reluctant Nod joins him, M.K., Mub and Grub after hearing about Queen Tara's death which Bufo overhears. They eventually find Nim Galuu who leads them down to the scroll library, where M.K. discovers Tara's brief message before shrinking her, and a message that will get her back to normal size. Mandrake gets the location of the pod out of Bufo upon having the Boggans bring Bufo to him. When Ronin leaves, Nod takes M.K. on a deer ride and they begin to fall in love. Mandrake arrives and kidnaps Mub and Grub and imprisons them, along with the pod, which he hopes to bloom in darkness then to use to destroy the forest. Ronin scolds Nod for not being there to protect the pod. To get into Boggan territory undiscovered, M.K., Nod and Ronin set out to Bomba's house to get some disguises, where M.K. learns that the Leafmen have deliberately been leading Bomba off their trail. When they reach the Boggan land Ronin distracts the Boggans while M.K. and Nod rescue Mub, Grub and the pod. They are eventually found out by Mandrake, who summons the Boggans to stop them. M.K., Nod, Mub and Grub escape alive, but Ronin sacrifices himself to ensure their escape. Before the full moon can sprout the pod at Moon-haven, Mandrake's bats block the light, causing the pod to begin sprouting in darkness. As the Leafmen set out to fight the Boggans, M.K. sets out to get her father for assistance. However, upon regaining consciousness, Bomba believes that he didn't really see M.K. and that he has been insane all these years and shuts down all his cameras, but changes his mind when he sees a red push-pin that M.K. had put on his map while they were getting disguises. Bomba is overjoyed to see that he has been right and when he follows M.K. to Moon-haven, he uses his iPod to make bat sounds, luring Mandrake's bats away. Meanwhile, Mub and Nim Galuu try to stop Mandrake from reaching the pod, but are unsuccessful. Just then, Ronin appears, bearing scars and bruises from the Boggans. Mandrake manages to outdo him, but Ronin is defended by Nod, who finally realizes the importance of teamwork. Before Mandrake can obtain his victory, the moonlight takes over the pod before it blooms in darkness, causing it to bloom in light, defeating the Boggans and Mandrake is sucked and sealed into a nearby tree. The chosen heir is Marigold who helped save Tara earlier in the film. Grub becomes a Leafman, Nod and Ronin reconcile and Nod and M.K. kiss before M.K. is returned to her original size. After reuniting with Bomba and becoming his assistant, the human family still keeps regular contact with their small friends as they continue the research of their world.

Jinn: The Jinn are the Flower-like and insect sentient entities which comprise the world of the Forest. The humanoid Leafman society are also considered Jinns and so are the Boggans.
Boggans: Agents of Corruption and Decay. They live in Wrathwood. Boggans are a race of froggish, insect-like goblin beings who want to destroy the entire forest and are enemies of the Leafmen. They are mostly like dead boggles and mosquitos. They have palw blue pale green or pale white skin and wear rat or bat pelts as capes. Their clothing is made of leather. They use chuncks if tree bark as shields and also to hide behind it and camouflage in trees. Not all of them are humanoid. They are somewhat clumsy and dull compared to their leader, but they are fearless when it comes to war and battle. They create rot in the forest. Most of them are armed with bows and arrows and others with clubs. They ride black ravens or bats. Unlike the Boggans, Mandrake and Dagda are more advanced Boggans with more intelligence than the rest. They come in four major types; Skinny (These Boggans are very skinny, and have flat noses. They are often armed with tiny spears no bigger than themselves. They wear hummingbird skulls they salvage from dead hummingbirds. Sometimes they are used as spears by larger boggans. They also have wings), Medium (These ones often are unarmored, but sometimes they will wear Odd helmets made of bark and the exoskeletons of bugs for armor. They are often armed with bows and arrows), Large (these guys have big builds, and often carry around the small boggans as spears. They wear bat skulls and carry clubs similar to Mandrake's), Humanoid (Mandrake and Dagda, on the other hand, are more human-like in appearance. However, they have beaklike noses and four digits on each hand. It is unknown if there are more like them as only the two are seen). The Boggans are first seen when they have a little skirmish by attacking Queen Tara's party to select a pod to become her successor. One of the Boggans is very unlucky and is splattered all over M.K.'s cab. They try to assassinate Queen Tara, but fail to do so. Dagda and Mandrake then go after Tara and Ronin. Dagda is shot down to death, but Mandrake manages to shoot Tara in the side with an arrow.
Humans: to humans, Jinns are extremely fast while to Jinns, humans move in a very slow-motion. Humans are unable to see a Jinn qmwith a naked eye and need special magnigying kenses to properly spot them. Leafmen call humans Srompers and get very annoyed by their extremely slow moves.
Regular animals: are not to be confused with the Flower- or Animal-like Jinn which comprised the fantastical hidden world of the Forest. Mice and chipmunks are especially dangerous and agressive to jinns. Sparrows and hummingbirds on the itue rhand are used as mounts by the Leafmen. Deer are not aggresive and would not fight a leafman clombing on their antlers.
Leafmen: Humanoid jinns, a race if tiny hunan-like beings who live in the forest with their job being to protect their home and the queen from their enemies, the Boggans. Leafmen are able to jump six times their hight.
The Pod: The Royal Pod is a pink lotus bulb chosen by Queen Tara as the best candidate to receive and contain The Life of the Forest. It's purpose is to hold this power until blooming at which point it releases the magic onto the chosen heir. If this is done in moonlight, it gives its power to the chosen heir of the queen of the forest. If it blooms in darkness, the heir will be the next king of rot. The Pod was a mystery to most, as no one had all the information on its care. Mub and Grub knew that it had to be kept moist. The pod was one of the many raised by the keepers Mub and Grub. When Queen Tara arrived to pick her royal pod, the keepers offered her their biggest but the queen was drawn to the tinier pod.
LEAFMEN Description: The Leafmen is a military regiment comprised of humanoid jinns. They are the protectors of the forest. They are expert archers and great at hand to hand combat. Ideology: in the leafmen code, all are connected to each other. The leafmwn act as a group and never on their own. The leagmen tribal hummingbird crest can be seen on leaf-like-flags. Armour: Their armor is made of leaves that come in green with few using acrons as scales for heavy armour and is heavily inspired by Japanese Samurai and European Knight. The queen's guards comes in vanillaq/cream with green accents. Weapons: they primarily wield heavy long swords or katanas. Other weapons they utilize include fighting sticks and bows with arrows. Shields: The leafmen utilise leaves as tall shields. A golden tribal hummingbird is drawn on their center, surrounded by symmetrical marks. Mounts: they fly on the backs of hummingbirds. Few skilled riders ride sparrows instead of hummingbirds. They also have beiddles and saddles for their mounts.
LOCATIONS
Forest: the forest is large and it contains mostly deciduous large trees, grass and ferns. There are also small lakes and tiny rivers, flower valleys and parts of open grasslands. Golden sunrays is filtered through the leaves. It is always sunny with sparse rainfall.
Moonhaven: a beautiful, lush green place deep in the forest, hidden by a cascading waterfall. Yhe Seat of Authority for the forest-dwelling Jinn and Leafmen. Serves as a central gathering place for the good and peaceful beings in the forest. It is where The Pod is brought to bloom under the strongest rays of the moon.
The tree of Nim Galuu: It is the oldest tree in the entire forest with branches and roots that stretch out all around it. The top of the tree holds Nim Galuu's party room where he entertains guests with his theatrics and serves them drinks. Nim Galuu also gives his performance, singing and dancing. The lower section of the tree houses the Rings of Knowledge, a database of every event to have happen in the forest. This information is stored on scrolls which are transferred around the tree by moth assistants. Nim Galuu admits they have had problems with termites eating the scrolls which means some of the knowledge has been lost. Mandrake managed to take half of the scroll about the The Pod without Nim Galuu or anyone else seeing him do so.
Wrathwood: Boggan's territory, often referred to as the "Island of Rot". The whole area is covered by a devestated forest and a rotted stump in the middle of this deadness serves as the Boggan's home and is the place where Mandrake supposedly tried to make the Pod bloom in darkness, which would create the "Prince of Darkness" with whom's help Mandrake planned to destroy the Forest permanently.
Bomba's house: 54 Saw Mill Road, Danbury, Connecticut, 0732. It is painted yellow and has two stories and an attic. It is the home of Professor Radcliffe Bomba, his daughter M.K., and their dog Ozzi. It sits next to the forest that is the home to the Jinn and Leafman and houses the world of Moonhaven. Susan had left the house when she broke up with her husband and took their daughter with her. Over the years the professor used his house as his "lab", as he looked for the little people that live in the forest next to his home; by setting up cameras that send an image to many screens in the house and marking the "sightings" on maps of the forest. He had lived alone, with only his dog for company until his teenage daughter came home, after her mother recently died. Proffesor Bomba had left Mary Katherine's old bedroom the way she had left it, when she was little. Her bed is pink with dark pink blankets and a pink pillow. There is a table with two pink chairs and her childhood dollhouse with two dolls in it. There is also a toy chest next to the bed with a pink blanket on top of it. The wall on the left to the bed has Stars, Moons, Suns, and Fairies with a Solar System mobile hanging from it. Next to the toy chest are boxes and a pair of skis for a little girl. The box on the top has toy blocks in it. In the middle of the room, there is a rainbow rug. There is a small dresser next to the bed and a big dresser with books, a cup of pencils, a vase, and a birdhouse on it. Underneath the big dresser is a little piano. There is also a wall with paintings of a tree with animals. After M.K.'s adventure, she helped her father fill the house with facts about the Leafmen and Jinn.

(to Finn) "Take the Leafmen to Moonhaven. Fortify it." Finn nods Ronin: "Keep everyone safe." Finn: "What about you?" Ronin: beat of silence "Mandrake will be looking for this pod, but he won't be looking for a Leafman traveling alone." Finn: "That's not what I meant." Ronin: lays a hand on Finn's shoulder "I know what you meant. I'll send word when I reach Nim's."
