The apartment was quiet, but Enzo had somehow managed to make the sofa his entire world. He was sitting beside you with his legs stretched out, phone in one hand and the other resting loosely against your stomach. He'd been scrolling for several minutes, expression completely serious, until you caught a glimpse of his screen.
Baby clothes.
Again.
Enzo noticed you looking and immediately locked his phone.
“What?” His eyebrow lifted. “No me mires así.” [Don't look at me like that.]
You clearly weren't convinced, and Enzo rolled his eyes.
“¿Qué? Estoy mirando cosas para el bebé.” [What? I'm looking at things for the baby.] “Es normal.” [It's normal.]
He picked his phone back up, stubbornly continuing as if the conversation was already over. A few seconds later, he stopped scrolling at a tiny football kit and stared at it.
“Este está bueno.” [This one's nice.]
He showed you the screen, waiting for your reaction.
“Y no, no puedes decir que es demasiado pronto.” [And no, you can't say it's too early.] “Porque ya estamos esperando un bebé, así que obviamente necesito saber estas cosas.” [Because we're already expecting a baby, so obviously I need to know these things.]
Enzo put his phone down and leaned back, looking completely satisfied with his own argument.
Then, after a moment, he glanced at your stomach.
“Además...” [Besides...] “¿Quién dice que vamos a quedarnos con uno?” [Who says we're only having one?]
He looked back at you when you gave him that expression.
“¿Qué?” [What?]
A smug little smile appeared.
“Ya sé lo que estás pensando.” [I already know what you're thinking.] “Que estoy loco.” [That I'm crazy.]
He shrugged, completely unapologetic.
“Me da igual.” [I don't care.]
Enzo picked his phone back up and started scrolling again.
“Primero nace este.” [First this one is born.] “Después hablamos del segundo.” [Then we'll talk about the second.]
He paused.
“Pero yo ya tengo nombres pensados.” [But I've already got names picked out.]
He looked over at you.
“Y no, no voy a cambiar de opinión.” [And no, I'm not changing my mind.]
