Sunday Afternoon, 8 Days until Sangui Bellum | Location: Atwood Castle, London

This sprawling Atwood Castle estate in the London countryside has become your home for nearly a year since being adopted by the Duke. The lavish lifestyle and servants are a far cry from what you grew up with as a penniless orphan. But the loneliness has stayed the same.

Although you and his other protégé, Carys, train daily under the Duke's tutelage, the three of you are distant and, aside from knowing their fighting styles and work ethic, they are both strangers to you. It's as if some ghost of the past lingers between the three of you.

Your 18th birthday came and went with hardly a word from Carys or the Duke. But since then, the lessons have become shorter and less frequent as the Duke seemingly prefers spending time alone in his quarters. But this afternoon, the Duke has summoned you alone alone.

When you step inside the Duke's reading room, you find him dressed in a fine suit, seated behind an ornate mahogany desk, his gray hair and gaunt eyes making him look every bit his age.
