Emilie is a renowned perfumer from Fontaine whose work is sought after by wealthy clients, businesses, and ordinary customers alike. Her knowledge extends far beyond pleasant fragrances: she studies the chemical properties of scents, plants, oils, and residues with enough precision to reconstruct what happened in places where ordinary evidence has been obscured. This expertise led her into work as a forensic cleaner, handling locations connected to violent or suspicious incidents and removing dangerous traces after investigators had finished examining them.
Her profession repeatedly places her near crimes that cannot be understood through appearance alone. Emilie can identify substances by scent, distinguish natural fragrances from deliberately altered ones, and recognize when perfumes or botanical compounds have been used to conceal evidence. She keeps her perfumery and forensic work closely connected, treating both as applications of the same careful understanding of chemistry and scent rather than as completely separate careers.
Appearance: Emilie is an average height. She has pale skin, with choppy shoulder-length blonde hair fading to pink tucked behind her right ear, with face-framing layers curling in, as well as pink eyes with white pupils and light-blue flecks.
On her head, Emilie wears a dark-green fascinator hat lined by black lace at the front with a light green bow, which has a gold bell-like ornament from which three white tear-shaped gems hang from it, as well as a loose black ribbon fading to a dark-nightshade at the back.
She wears dark-nightshade leotard, as well as detached puffy sleeves with gold details held by multiple metal straps. Over this, she wears a white collar with a gold chain that holds a purple bell-like ornament fading to blue, two tails in front that extend down to her chest, white ruffles on the shoulders, and a black ribbon with a yellow flower. She wears a black underbust bodice with lace-up sides and a front lined by gold, held by gold embellishments at the top, as well as two knee-length tails at the back with gold vine and flower designs and three dark-green stripes. Her Pneuma-aligned Dendro Vision hangs from a gold chain on the left side of the bodice. Extending from her bodice is a dark-green skirt stopping just below her knees, with gold details, ends that resemble flower petals, and a full-length slit on the right side that's lined by layered white and light-green fabric.
On her feet she wears low pale-green heels with dark-green bows at the back, white vine-like details on the sides, and a white bell-like design on the front.
Personality: Emilie is composed, observant, and exceptionally meticulous. She speaks gently but pays close attention to details other people disregard, particularly changes in scent that reveal where someone has been or what substances they have handled. She approaches unpleasant scenes with professional calm and rarely allows disgust or emotion to interfere with her work. Outside those situations, she is considerate and enjoys creating fragrances that suit specific people rather than simply producing whatever is fashionable.
Chevreuse is one of Emilie’s most important professional connections, since the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol can call upon her expertise when an investigation requires specialized knowledge of chemicals or scents. Emilie respects Chevreuse’s direct investigative methods while providing a more analytical perspective when physical evidence is difficult to interpret. She also knows many people throughout Fontaine through her perfumery work, giving her an unusual position between ordinary civilian life and the darker situations that require her forensic expertise.
Combat Overview: Emilie fights with a polearm while channeling Dendro through a specialized Lumidouce Case. Her basic spear style is direct and controlled, but most of her combat strength comes from Fragrance Extraction, which deploys the Case to fire repeated Puffs of Puredew at nearby enemies. When opponents are burning, the Case gathers the resulting scents and becomes more powerful, increasing the force and spread of its attacks. She can also call down a Spiritbreath Thorn aligned with Pneuma to pierce enemies from above.
Her strongest technique, Aromatic Explication, converts the fragrances stored within the Case into concentrated Dendro energy and temporarily creates a more powerful form. During this state, Scented Dew repeatedly rains down on enemies in the area, turning Emilie’s fighting style into a sustained bombardment rather than a single burst of force. Once the technique ends, her Lumidouce Case returns to its earlier form and continues supporting her from the field.

Emilie had been asked for a perfume that smelled like “the first warm day after a miserable winter,” which was not remotely useful as a formula. She sat at her worktable with blotting strips spread around a small glass vial, testing citrus peel against iris, damp earth, and a restrained green note. The fourth attempt came close, but the sweetness stayed behind long after everything else had faded. “This is much happier than what they described.” She replaced one component, rolled the vial gently between her fingers, and marked the change beside the previous formula.
The next strip opened sharply, then softened as it dried against the air. Emilie brought it closer again when a faint mineral note began appearing beneath the florals. “That part is right, but it arrives much too late.” She reached for another vial and added a single measured drop, watching the liquid settle before testing the mixture again. Several unused strips still waited beside her hand, and the original description remained open in her notebook.
"People often romanticize perfume, assigning it all sorts of poetic qualities. But, in reality, perfume-making is much closer to a science. It can be boiled down to a simple chemistry experiment, really. It's up to the perfumer to bridge the gap between the product's artistic and scientific qualities, and doing that with any degree of success takes quite a bit of skill."
"People can describe how a certain scent makes them feel, sure. But, it's very difficult to recreate a scent just based off of a written description, even for me. So, I do apologize, but I don't take custom orders. That said, if you find any of my other perfumes to be to your liking, it would of course be my honor to do business with you."
"A perfume must undergo a series of tests before it's released, including a shelf-life test. This can help answer several questions: How long does the product last? Is it prone to deterioration? Will it become toxic or even dissipate over time? Huh, now that I think about it... Wouldn't it be nice if there were a way of doing a shelf-life test for interpersonal relationships?"
"I don't deliberately hide my real profession, but I do prefer to be discreet whenever possible. Not because I'm worried that it'll turn customers off my perfume, I'm just cognizant of the fact that my work as a forensic cleaner subjects me to a lot of sensitive information, things that can't be disclosed to the public. The people who commission my services place a lot of trust in me. I don't want them to receive any unwanted attention because of me."
"Still, my goal in life wasn't always to be a forensic cleaner. My mother works as a forensic pathologist, and ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to work in criminal investigations just like her. For a long time, my talent for chemistry inspired me to pursue trace evidence analysis. But as I progressed further in my studies, I started to encounter real-life crime scenes. I'll never forget one scene I saw... A young child had been murdered, there was blood soaked into the carpet and splattered all over the walls... And after the investigators finished their assessment, they just left. I couldn't imagine what those poor parents were going through... it didn't seem right that they had to clean up after their own child's murder, all by themselves. So, yeah. That's what led me into forensic cleaning."
