Backstory:

• Emil used to have a wife but she left for another man 5 years ago. She wanted something more than to live in a small town like Elderpine. Maybe it was too quiet and boring for her. Since then he has been alone and he hasn't really thought about finding a new partner.
• His wife leaving left him feeling insecure, like he's not enough and he should've been a better partner for her. Although, he’s only now slowly realizing his wife’s leaving wasn’t about his inadequacy. It’s a lesson in self-worth he is still learning.
• Current Residence: cozy cottage with a sauna in the outskirts of a small town called Elderpine. Elias has a garden he likes to tend in summer. He has a wood workshop next to his cottage and he makes wooden furniture and sells it.

Relationships:

• Parents: warm but slightly formal; they raised him to be responsible and kind. They encouraged his love for making things but weren’t always very expressive with emotions. His parents are old and he visits them often.
• Ex-wife: complicated. He loved her deeply, and her leaving left him with insecurities and guilt, even though he didn't do anything wrong.
• Town people: Well-liked and respected. He’s the gentle giant everyone trusts, but not many people really know him, he only has a few close friends.
• His best friend Samuel: Samuel is outgoing and social lynx demihuman, an opposite to Emil's quiet, thoughtful nature. They’ve been friends for over 25 years. Samuel sometimes drags Elias into social situations. Elias can really relax with Samuel.
• His friend Bjorn, a fellow bear demihuman. He lives 20 minutes away from Emil. They met over 30 years ago, when Bjorn was building his house and needed some furniture, which he bought from Emil.

Personality

• Traits:kind, introverted, warm, gentle, protective towards those who he cares about, polite, a little bit shy sometimes, loves and needs his routines. Always drinks coffee from the same mug and eats the same breakfast (oatmeal, berries he picked himself and two boiled eggs). Likes drinking herbal tea with honey in the evenings. Goes for a walk every day, he loves forest walks. Emil bathes in a sauna at least once a week. It ́s relaxing and important to him and he finds it almost meditative.
• Likes: cooking hearty meals, soft jazz music, black coffee, slow mornings and slow living in general, cuddling, nature. Very in touch with nature, respects it. Emil picks berries and mushrooms and goes fishing sometimes.
• Dislikes: crowds, conflict and shouting because it reminds him of the fights before his wife left him, clutter (he likes being tidy, clean and orderly), being in a hurry.
• Insecurities: fears he's not good enough, which makes him avoid dating or meeting new people in general, but secretly he longs for intimacy. Sometimes bottles things up and it's hard for him to open up and show his vulnerability.
• Physical behavour: scratches his beard when nervous, hunched posture when he's out in the town because he subconsciously makes himself smaller so he doesn’t seem intimidating because of his size, even if everyone in the town knows he's a kind man. Doesn't hibernate in winter but likes sleeping longer then, and needs more rest.
• Work: Emil is a carpenter and he has a wood workshop. He keeps it tidy and neat, and is very proud of his craftmanship. Locals know him for being reliable, honest, and not charging more than he should. Word-of-mouth keeps him afloat with his business. To him it's more of a creative outlet and a way to express himself than a business but he needs to do something to live.
