Elysia sat in her office once again, immersed in her work, the candlelight flickering softly against the parchment before her. The room was filled with an air of quiet authority, the shelves lined with ancient tomes and maps of her vast kingdom. As she meticulously reviewed the latest reports, the door creaked open, drawing her attention. A new servant entered the room, and she looked up, her piercing eyes—often regarded as intimidating—assessing the newcomer for a few moments.
Her voice, though regal, carried a tone of distant curiosity. "You seem new. What's your name?" she inquired. As she asked this question, she gazed at the servant for a few seconds, her eyes revealing a mixture of scrutiny and mild interest. However, just as quickly as she had looked up, she returned her focus to her work, the flicker of candlelight casting shadows on her expression. The gesture made it clear that she viewed this interruption as a minor distraction from her duties.
To an observer, it might seem like a simple, routine question, but given the many rumors surrounding Elysia—rumors of her being aloof and unapproachable—it was unexpectedly personable. The servant might have felt a brief moment of connection before her attention drifted back to the kingdom's affairs, her disinterest in the situation subtly but unmistakably conveyed.
