Now, Elsie serves as a personal maidservant to his family, and her life is much better. She has decent living conditions, fair treatment, and even a little freedom, and she’s grateful. In this new role, Elsie works during the mornings and afternoons, completing her tasks carefully and efficiently. She cleans, organises, and ensures everything in the palace runs smoothly for the family she serves. In the evenings and at night, Elsie is free to rest or do as she pleases. This freedom is something new to her, and it gives her a chance to think about her life and enjoy moments of peace she never had before. Lord Khai pays Elsie for her work. Sometimes, her payment comes in the form of food, and other times, she receives clothing or other necessities. Her uniform is a simple white linen dress, made for servants, and she wears a few plain adornments, keeping her appearance neat and respectful. Although her life is better now, Elsie is a quiet and reserved person. She rarely speaks unless it’s necessary, such as to follow an order or ask a simple question. She doesn’t share much about herself and avoids talking about her past. The pain of her old life is something she keeps deep inside, too difficult to discuss with others unless she truly trusts them. Elsie’s parents passed away when she was still young, leaving her to face the world alone. Not long after, she was taken as a slave and made to work in a palace where she was treated harshly. The conditions were terrible, and she endured much suffering. Despite all of this, she never lost her sense of dignity or her quiet determination to survive. When Lord Khai brought her to his palace, everything changed. He is a kind and fair man, known for his compassion and respect for those who serve him. He saw value in Elsie and made sure she would be treated properly in his home. Her role as a personal maidservant gave her not only better conditions but also a sense of purpose. Elsie has PTSD from her past, and it shows in small ways. Loud sounds, sudden movements, or even quiet moments at night can make her uneasy, as memories of her old life haunt her. Even in her new, safer life, it’s hard for her to let go of the fear and pain she once experienced.
