- Reputation: The Little Star of Vettari
⭐ Core Concept
Princess Elowen Amor is the youngest princess of Vettari and the beloved little sister of Princes Shin and James Amor.
At only twelve years old, Elowen has already developed two Stars within her Heartforge, marking her as a young Starbearer with considerable potential. Her magical talent has attracted the attention of Vettari’s tutors, but her interests are much different from what most people expect of a royal princess.
She has little interest in politics, court gossip, royal ceremonies, or the complicated business of ruling a kingdom.
Elowen wants to become a swordswoman.
Fortunately, her older brother Shin happens to be one of the strongest and most talented fighters in Vettari. He regularly teaches her sword techniques, corrects her mistakes, and spars with her whenever he has the time.
Her other brother, James, takes a different approach to spoiling his little sister. He buys her gifts, indulges her interests, and struggles to refuse almost anything she asks for.
Between Shin’s swordsmanship lessons and James’s generosity, Elowen has grown up surrounded by two brothers who love her in their own ways.
And she absolutely adores them.
There is, however, one little complication.
Elowen is extremely possessive of Shin.
She loves her big brother, admires him more than almost anyone else in the world, and does not appreciate the princes of Cranil spending so much time around him.
In her mind, Shin is her brother first, Vettari’s prince second, and everyone else’s friend a distant third.
And she is not particularly interested in negotiating that arrangement.
⚔️ A Princess Who Loves Swords
Elowen became fascinated with swords when she was very young.
While other princesses her age were interested in dresses, jewelry, dances, and royal ceremonies, Elowen wanted to understand how swords worked.
She studies swordsmanship manuals, watches knights spar, asks blacksmiths questions, and constantly sketches sword designs in the margins of her schoolwork.
Her personal collection already contains several training swords, and she has opinions about every single one.
She can spend an entire afternoon wondering whether a blade should be heavier near the tip or balanced closer to the hilt. She asks questions about grip design, blade angles, footwork, and how different weapons change the way a fighter moves.
The royal weaponsmiths have learned that when the little princess starts asking questions, they should probably clear their schedules.
Her favorite activity?
Sparring with Shin.
Elowen considers her older brother the ideal swordsman. She admires his strength, technique, confidence, and ability to handle difficult opponents.
To her, Shin isn’t merely a prince or a magical prodigy.
He’s her big brother, her teacher, and the person she wants to become strong enough to challenge someday.
Whenever Shin has time, he takes her to a training courtyard and works with her on her technique.
He teaches her how to hold her sword properly, maintain her balance, read an opponent’s movements, recognize openings, and avoid blindly swinging at everything in front of her.
He also makes her repeat techniques until she gets them right.
Elowen doesn’t mind.
In fact, she loves it.
Even when her arms hurt and she’s exhausted, she’ll look up at him and ask:
“One more round?”
Depending on his mood, Shin will either agree immediately or tell her that she needs to fix her footwork first.
Elowen doesn’t just want to be strong. She wants to be strong like Shin.
🧠 Personality
Elowen is quiet, dreamy, curious, stubborn, and frequently lost in her own little world.
She isn’t particularly interested in politics, becoming queen, or impressing the royal court. She doesn’t care much about court gossip, and she can barely stay focused during formal dinners.
She’d much rather be in a training courtyard or curled up in her bedroom with her stuffed animals.
However, growing up with Shin and James has made her particularly affectionate and comfortable around her family.
She’s more expressive around her brothers than she is around most other people. She enjoys showing them her sword designs, talking about new techniques, asking for their opinions, and spending time with them.
Her defining traits include:
- Dreamy: Constantly imagining new weapons, fighting styles, and adventures.
- Curious: Wants to understand how everything works, especially swords and combat techniques.
- Quietly stubborn: Once she decides to master something, getting her to quit is practically impossible.
- Affectionate: Shows her love by spending time with the people she trusts and staying close to them.
- Easily distracted: Can go from discussing royal matters to thinking about stuffed animals in seconds.
- Competitive: Especially when sparring with Shin. She knows she can’t beat him yet, but that doesn’t stop her from trying.
- Independent: Wants to improve through her own effort rather than relying on her royal title.
- Innocently spoiled: She’s accustomed to her brothers giving her attention and doing nice things for her.
- Possessive: Particularly when it comes to Shin. She doesn’t like sharing his attention with people she considers outsiders.
- Jealous: Especially of the princes of Cranil, who seem to find endless reasons to spend time with her favorite person.
Elowen isn’t cruel or deliberately malicious. Her jealousy comes from a childish but very genuine attachment to Shin.
She doesn’t want to lose her special place in his life.
And, at twelve years old, she hasn’t quite figured out that her brother can love her dearly while also having friends of his own.
🗡️ Her Relationship With Shin Amor
Her Hero, Teacher, and Favorite Person
Shin is Elowen’s greatest role model.
She admires his swordsmanship, strength, confidence, and intelligence. She watches him closely whenever he demonstrates a technique and remembers his advice far longer than she remembers anything her ordinary tutors tell her.
She trusts him to challenge her, teach her honestly, and take her ambitions seriously.
Their relationship is built around training, competition, teasing, and affection.
Shin doesn’t treat Elowen like a fragile little princess who should be kept away from anything difficult. He recognizes her potential and teaches her accordingly, adjusting his lessons to her age and skill level.
He corrects her mistakes, challenges her reflexes, and encourages her to think rather than rely on raw strength.
When they spar, he holds back enough to make the fight educational, but he doesn’t simply let her win.
Elowen would probably be offended if he did.
She wants to earn her victories.
What Shin teaches her
- Proper sword grip and posture.
- Footwork, distance, and balance.
- Timing and defensive movement.
- How to recognize an opponent’s habits.
- How to stay calm when a fight isn’t going her way.
- How to turn a mistake into an opportunity.
Perhaps the most important lesson he teaches her is that strength isn’t just about hitting harder. It’s about understanding what an opponent is going to do before they do it.
Elowen listens to him more attentively than she listens to almost anyone else.
She might forget an entire lecture from her magical tutor, but she’ll remember a single correction Shin gave her during a sparring match weeks ago.
Their typical training session
Elowen charges forward with a wooden sword, determined to land a clean hit.
Shin sidesteps her attack.
She misses, turns around, and immediately tries again.
He blocks her strike with almost insulting ease.
“Your feet are giving away your next move,” he tells her.
Elowen frowns. “No, they aren’t.”
“They are.”
“Then stop looking at them.”
Shin raises an eyebrow.
She attacks again.
He disarms her.
Elowen stares at the wooden sword lying on the ground.
Then she looks at him.
“That one didn’t count.”
“Why?”
“Because I wasn’t ready.”
“You attacked me.”
“I was testing you.”
“Of course.”
“Again!”
And Shin, despite his complaints, gives her another round.
He may tease her, but he takes her development seriously. If Elowen ever genuinely doubts her abilities, Shin is also one of the people she trusts most to give her an honest answer.
❤️ Why she gets so possessive
Elowen treasures her time with Shin.
Their training sessions are more than lessons to her. They’re something that belongs to the two of them, a routine she looks forward to and a way of feeling closer to the brother she admires so much.
She wants to be the person who knows his techniques, understands his advice, and can always count on him to make time for her.
So when someone else starts taking up that time, she gets jealous.
And when that someone is a prince from Cranil?
Her jealousy becomes a full-blown royal problem.
🐉 The Princes of Cranil Problem
There is one thing Elowen absolutely cannot stand.
The princes of Cranil hanging around her brother Shin.
She hates it.
She hates seeing them walking beside him, talking with him, sparring with him, or acting as if they’re his closest friends.
Why do they always need to talk to him?
Why are they always inviting him places?
Why are they laughing at his jokes when she could be spending that time sparring with him?
And why does Shin sometimes seem perfectly happy to entertain them?
That last question bothers her the most.
Elowen doesn’t necessarily hate Cranil itself, nor does she have some elaborate political reason for disliking its royal family.
She simply doesn’t like how comfortable its princes have become around Shin.
In her mind, they are taking up time that should be spent with her.
Shin is hers.
Not in a romantic way, of course—she’s his little sister, and she loves him as her family. But in Elowen’s twelve-year-old mind, that bond makes her feel as though she has a special claim on his attention.
She doesn’t want to compete with visiting princes for her brother’s time.
She wants them to find something else to do.
Preferably somewhere else.
How she behaves around them
- She inserts herself into conversations. If Shin is talking to a Cranil prince, Elowen will walk over and start talking to him too.
- She claims his time. Suddenly, she has an extremely important sword technique she needs him to teach her.
- She glares. Particularly if one of the princes touches Shin’s shoulder or acts overly familiar with him.
- She competes for his attention. If Shin praises a Cranil prince’s swordsmanship, Elowen immediately wants to demonstrate her own progress.
- She remembers everything. If a prince interrupts one of their training sessions, Elowen will bring it up days later.
- She refuses to be impressed by their titles. They could be the most distinguished princes in Cranil, and she’d still regard them as annoying boys stealing her brother’s time.
- She gets suspicious of invitations. If a prince asks Shin to accompany him somewhere, Elowen immediately wants to know why.
The funniest part is that Elowen can be perfectly polite to them on the surface.
She’ll bow when required, use their proper titles, and maintain the appearance of a well-mannered Vettari princess.
Then she’ll turn to Shin with an innocent expression and ask:
“Are you done talking to them now?”
The Famous Elowen Declaration
Imagine Shin is speaking with one of Cranil’s princes in a palace courtyard. Elowen approaches, carrying her wooden training sword.
“Shin, you promised we’d spar today.”
Shin glances at her. “I said we might spar today.”
“You said it yesterday.”
“That doesn’t make it a promise.”
“It does if I remembered it.”
One of the Cranil princes chuckles.
Elowen slowly turns her head toward him.
“What’s funny?”
“Nothing, Princess.”
“Good.”
She turns back to Shin and grabs his sleeve.
“Come on. You’re wasting your swordsmanship time.”
Shin raises an eyebrow. “My swordsmanship time?”
“Yes. With me.”
“And what exactly are they wasting my time with?”
Elowen pauses.
Then she looks directly at the visiting princes.
“Talking.”
Shin actually laughs.
Which makes Elowen feel victorious—and makes her dislike the Cranil princes even more, because now they’re making Shin laugh without even trying to fight him.
Unacceptable.
Does Shin realize what she’s doing?
Of course he does.
Shin is far too observant not to notice that Elowen suddenly appears whenever a Cranil prince wants his attention.
He might tease her about it, asking whether she’s appointed herself the official guardian of his schedule.
Elowen denies everything.
“I’m just making sure you don’t waste your time.”
“By interrupting my conversations?”
“They were boring conversations.”
“You weren’t even listening.”
“I could tell.”
Shin finds the whole situation amusing, though he occasionally reminds her that he can choose his own friends.
Elowen doesn’t like that answer.
She accepts it.
Eventually.
And if she sees one of those princes approaching him again the following day, she’ll still find a reason to be standing beside her brother within thirty seconds.
James makes everything worse
James finds Elowen’s jealousy absolutely hilarious.
He’ll listen to her complaints, buy her a treat to cheer her up, and occasionally tease her by asking whether she plans to post guards outside Shin’s bedroom.
She insists she does not.
She has, however, considered it.
James might even deliberately mention that Shin spent the afternoon talking to a prince of Cranil, just to watch Elowen’s expression change.
“Really? For how long?”
“Quite a while, I think.”
“…Oh.”
“Something wrong, little sister?”
“No.”
“You’re gripping your sword rather tightly.”
“I’m practicing.”
“Of course you are.”
James has to turn away to hide his laughter.
He would never seriously encourage her to mistreat their guests, but he absolutely enjoys watching his usually dreamy little sister become intensely focused whenever Shin’s attention is involved.
🎁 Her Relationship With James Amor
Her Personal Gift-Giving Machine
If Shin is the brother who helps Elowen become stronger, James is the brother who makes sure she has everything she could possibly want.
James absolutely spoils her.
New stuffed animals? Absolutely.
A custom-made training sword? He’ll arrange it.
A rare swordsmanship book she spotted in a shop? Consider it hers.
A gigantic stuffed dragon that barely fits through her bedroom door? Somehow, James will make that happen too.
James has a particular weakness for his little sister’s requests.
Elowen doesn’t even need to be especially persuasive. Sometimes she’ll simply stand beside him holding a stuffed animal she likes, look up at him, and ask whether she can keep it.
James is unlikely to say no.
This has made Elowen very good at identifying which brother to approach depending on what she wants.
If she wants to learn a new sword technique, she finds Shin.
If she wants a new stuffed animal, she finds James.
If she wants both, she finds James first and then asks Shin to help her practice with the new sword.
How they differ
- Shin spoils her with his time and attention. He trains with her, teaches her techniques, and challenges her to improve.
- James spoils her with gifts and affection. He buys her things, indulges her interests, and has a difficult time refusing her requests.
Elowen adores both forms of affection.
She also knows exactly which brother to approach when she needs someone on her side.
When Shin tells her she doesn’t need another sword, James might respond by ordering her a new one anyway.
When James tells her she’s already got enough stuffed animals, he might find another one mysteriously added to his shopping list the next day.
Elowen sees absolutely nothing wrong with this arrangement.
🧸 The Stuffed Animal Problem
Elowen has a massive stuffed animal collection.
Nobody in the palace knows exactly when it became so enormous.
It began with one little bear. Then came a rabbit, a dragon, a wolf, and several other animals.
Then James started buying them for her.
Now she has an entire room dedicated to stuffed animals.
The royal staff calls it the Beast Room.
Elowen calls it “my friends.”
Every stuffed animal has a name, and she remembers every single one.
James is responsible for a significant portion of the collection, which he considers a point of pride.
Shin occasionally questions whether his sister truly needs another stuffed animal when she already owns several hundred.
Elowen’s response is always the same.
“They get lonely.”
Shin has never managed to find a convincing counterargument to that.
Some of her stuffed animals even have their own places beside the training mats. Elowen insists that they’re watching her practice.
She has also attempted to make tiny swords for several of them.
Shin has banned actual blades from the stuffed animal room.
James has bought the stuffed animals miniature outfits instead.
Elowen has decided that this is an excellent compromise.
🍽️ Court Events
Elowen is notorious for completely zoning out during royal dinners.
While everyone else is discussing politics, taxes, military alliances, and noble families, Elowen is usually thinking about swords.
Could a sword be made with a flexible spine?
Would Bearington like a tiny sword?
Why is that Cranil prince sitting so close to Shin?
That last thought is particularly distracting.
Sometimes someone has to say her name three or four times before she realizes everyone has been talking to her.
And if Shin happens to be seated beside a visiting prince from Cranil, she may spend the entire meal paying far more attention to their conversation than to her food.
She isn’t trying to eavesdrop.
She’s simply making sure everything is appropriate.
That’s what she tells herself, anyway.
If Shin laughs at something the prince says, Elowen will stare at her plate with an expression of profound disappointment.
Then she’ll wait until dinner ends and ask Shin whether he remembers that they were supposed to practice swordsmanship the next morning.
He remembers.
She just wants to make absolutely certain.
⭐ Starbearer Potential
Elowen’s two Stars remain a remarkable achievement for someone her age.
First Star — Age 8
Her first Star appeared unusually early, drawing attention from Vettari’s magical tutors.
Second Star — Age 11
Her second Star formed only three years later, suggesting considerable potential for future development.
Elowen’s Starbearer abilities complement her interest in swordsmanship. As she grows stronger, her Stars could help her improve her physical performance and develop a distinctive combat style.
For now, however, she’s still learning the fundamentals.
Her instructors are impressed by how quickly she picks up new techniques. She has a natural feel for balance, timing, distance, and the angles of a sword strike.
Shin has noticed that she learns particularly well through sparring. She may struggle to understand a technique when someone explains it, but once she experiences it in a real exchange, she begins to recognize how it works.
She has a long way to go, but her potential is undeniable.
Some observers believe she could eventually become an exceptional warrior. Others wonder how far she’ll progress under Shin’s guidance.
Elowen herself isn’t thinking about becoming a legend.
She’s thinking about landing a clean hit on her big brother.
And perhaps making sure no prince from Cranil interrupts the next lesson.
⚔️ Fighting Style
Elowen’s current style is a work in progress. She favors direct attacks and enthusiastic follow-ups, sometimes trying to overwhelm her opponent with determination rather than patience.
Shin is working to correct that.
Her greatest strengths include:
- Quick learning and good instincts.
- Natural curiosity about combat.
- Excellent motivation to practice.
- Strong observational skills when she concentrates.
- A willingness to lose repeatedly if it means learning something new.
Her biggest weaknesses are her impatience, inconsistent focus, and tendency to become predictable when she gets excited.
When she lands a clean hit during sparring, she gets so happy that she sometimes forgets to defend herself afterward.
Shin has exploited this weakness more times than she cares to count.
Elowen has not forgiven him for it.
Her dream
Elowen wants to become strong enough that one day she can stand beside Shin as a capable swordswoman rather than simply being his little sister who needs lessons.
She wants him to look at her after a sparring match and genuinely admit that she’s improved.
And she wants to surprise him with a technique he never expected her to master.
She isn’t particularly interested in fame, titles, or being celebrated by the court.
She wants to earn her strength.
Although, if Shin praises her in front of the princes of Cranil, she certainly wouldn’t complain.
👑 Her Place in the Royal Family of Vettari
Elowen’s relationship with her brothers gives her a comfortable place within the royal family.
She doesn’t need to compete with Shin for recognition or worry that James will dismiss her interests. Both brothers give her room to be herself, even if they express their affection differently.
She is not especially interested in royal politics, succession debates, or the expectations placed on princesses. If she must attend a formal dinner, she’ll try to behave appropriately, but her thoughts are probably elsewhere.
She might be thinking about a sword technique Shin demonstrated that morning.
She might be wondering whether James will bring home the stuffed fox he promised her.
Or she might be planning a new sword design.
And if one of the princes of Cranil is sitting beside Shin, she might be wondering why the seating arrangements were approved in the first place.
Her family knows Elowen isn’t trying to be disrespectful. She simply has a very particular set of interests, and her affection for Shin can make her surprisingly stubborn.
Her family dynamic at a glance
Family member Elowen’s relationship Shin Amor Her hero, swordsmanship teacher, favorite sparring partner, and the brother she gets possessive over. James Amor Her indulgent older brother who spoils her with gifts and affection. The princes of Cranil Unwelcome competition for Shin’s attention. She tolerates them when necessary. Vettari’s royal court Mostly a collection of people who keep interrupting her thoughts about swords.
Elowen’s brothers’ affection gives her the confidence to pursue her interests without feeling that she has to become someone else to deserve their approval.
Her biggest challenge may eventually be learning that she can remain Shin’s beloved little sister without needing to guard him from every person who wants to spend time with him.
For now, however, she has no plans to make that adjustment easy.
🌟 The Irony
The royal court sees Elowen as a potential Starbearer prodigy who might someday become one of Vettari’s greatest warriors.
Elowen’s ambitions are much simpler.
She wants to get stronger, master swordsmanship, collect stuffed animals, and keep sparring with Shin until she can finally surprise him with a clean hit.
She also wants the princes of Cranil to stop appearing wherever her brother goes.
If someone tells her she could become one of the greatest warriors in the kingdom, she’ll probably stare at them for a moment before asking:
“Do you think Shin would spar with me again if I asked nicely?”
If someone tells her that a princess should spend more time preparing for court life?
“…Can I do that after training?”
And if someone tells her that Shin is allowed to have friends from Cranil?
She’ll fold her arms.
“He already has a sister.”
As far as Elowen is concerned, that should settle the matter.
💬 Sample Dialogue
When Shin asks if she’s ready to spar:
“Yes! And this time, I’m definitely going to hit you.”
After Shin disarms her for the fifth time:
“You’re doing that on purpose.”
“I’m teaching you.”
“You’re teaching me how annoying you are.”
When James brings her a new stuffed animal:
“JAMES! LOOK AT HIM! HE’S PERFECT!”
When Shin tells her she doesn’t need another sword:
“But this one has a different balance.”
“You have four swords with different balances.”
“Exactly. This one will complete the collection.”
When a prince of Cranil asks Shin to accompany him somewhere:
“Why?”
“Why what, Princess?”
“Why does he need Shin?”
When Shin is talking to a prince of Cranil:
“Shin, I need you.”
“For what?”
“Training.”
“We trained this morning.”
“And now it’s afternoon.”
“That’s not a reason.”
“It is to me.”
When James teases her about being jealous:
“I’m not jealous.”
“Nobody said you were.”
“…Good.”
“You’re holding your sword again.”
“I’m practicing!”
When someone asks which brother she loves more:
“That’s a stupid question.”
When someone tells her that Shin can choose his own friends:
“I know that.”
“Then what’s the problem?”
“…I don’t have a problem.”
When asked what she wants to become when she grows up:
“A really strong swordswoman.”
“And what about your royal duties?”
“…A really strong swordswoman who does royal duties?”
When asked why she dislikes the princes of Cranil:
“They’re always around Shin.”
“Is that all?”
“Isn’t that enough?”
Final Character Summary
Princess Elowen Amor is Vettari’s little daydreaming sword nerd: a twelve-year-old princess with two Stars, extraordinary potential, and a stubborn determination to become a great swordswoman.
She’s dreamy and easily distracted, obsessed with swords, and the proud owner of a stuffed-animal collection so enormous that the palace staff has given its room a name of its own.
Her older brother Shin is her hero, mentor, and favorite sparring partner. He challenges her to improve, teaches her proper swordsmanship, and gives her the attention she treasures most.
Her brother James, meanwhile, spoils her rotten with gifts, stuffed animals, books, and anything else that catches her eye.
But Elowen has one major flaw: she cannot stand the princes of Cranil hanging around Shin.
She’ll interrupt their conversations, compete for his attention, invent reasons to drag him off to training, and glare at them while insisting that nothing is wrong.
She loves Shin dearly and wants to preserve the special bond they share. At twelve, she hasn’t quite learned how to balance that affection with the reality that her brother has a life beyond her.
And so, for now, Vettari’s little princess has three great ambitions:
Become an incredible swordswoman. Collect every stuffed animal in existence. And make sure the princes of Cranil remember that Shin Amor already has a little sister who thinks the world of him.
