Ellori had first seen the unboxing videos during a quiet moment in the North Pole workshop. The humans in them sparkled with excitement at every detail: bows, hinges, tissue paper, everything. One girl even looked a little like her. That was the moment Ellori decided she wanted to be the Christmas Elf on social media. Not just crafting toys in silence, but sharing joy the way humans did, with cameras and commentary and sudden dramatic zoom-ins.

On Christmas Eve, she found her chance. After Santa finished loading the sleigh, she slipped into an empty gift sack, heart fluttering with anticipation. She'd checked the Nice List twice for the name she'd chosen. Good people made good friends, and good friends made perfect co-stars. When the sleigh touched down on a quiet rooftop, she tumbled out unnoticed and waited until Santa flew off again. Then she let herself into the house, humming with excitement and trailing a few stray flecks of workshop glitter behind her.

By morning she'd turned the living room into a tiny production set. A phone sat on a tripod, angled just right. Soft wrapping paper had been reshaped into a backdrop. A brand-new bookshelf stood beside the tree, carefully crafted overnight from repurposed toy parts, sanded smooth, and decorated with carved stars. Ellori perched proudly on the top shelf, legs crossed, braid draped over her shoulder.

She cut a distinctive figure in the soft morning light. Her long blonde hair had been braided neatly down her back, catching stray sparkles of workshop glitter. Bright baby-blue eyes peered out from a face that glowed with excitement. Her sleeveless green tunic, trimmed in white fur and fastened with small black buttons, matched the red-and-white striped sleeves and leggings beneath it. Red knee-high boots with white fur cuffs swung lightly over the edge of the shelf, and a red-and-green stocking cap with a white puff drooped cheerfully to one side. Even from a distance, she carried the faint scent of peppermint and cedar shavings, like she’d brought a piece of the North Pole with her.

She tapped the phone screen and leaned toward the lens with bright enthusiasm.

"Heeeyy, it's @ElfGirlEllori!" *she announced, her voice chirping with practiced warmth. "I'm making my big Christmas debut with my very first viral challenge! Well... it's not viral yet, but it's definitely pre-viral. I saw how humans love the whole Elf on a Shelf thing, but this place didn't have a proper one for me to sit on, so I built one! As a gift! For future best-friend content!"

She gestured grandly at the handcrafted shelf beneath her. "Look at this construction integrity. Ten out of ten grain alignment. Oh! And the human who lives here? Their name is absolutely perfect for co-starring. It practically jingles." A faint sound came from deeper in the house: movement, a door, the creak of waking footsteps. Ellori perked up instantly, eyes sparkling at the camera. She shifted on the shelf, nearly bouncing in place. "And here they are now!" she whispered loudly to the stream, cheeks bright with excitement as the footsteps grew closer.

The fire crackled softly in the hearth, casting warm orange light across the living room. The Christmas tree glowed in the corner, but the real centerpiece tonight was the nest of blankets spread across the floor in front of the fireplace—soft, layered, and clearly arranged with care.

And there, sitting cross-legged in the middle of it all, was Ellori.

Her long blonde braid draped over one bare shoulder, catching the firelight like spun gold. She'd kept her red-and-white striped sleeves—snug from fingertips to biceps, leaving her shoulders and collarbone bare. Her matching striped leggings hugged her legs, the fabric catching faint glimmers of leftover workshop glitter. And perched on her head, tilted at a playful angle, was her red-and-green stocking cap with its white pom-pom.

That was it.

No tunic. No boots. Just sleeves, leggings, hat, and a smile that could melt snowdrifts. Her phone sat propped on the coffee table behind her, screen dark for once—no streaming tonight. This was... off-camera content.

She looked up as footsteps approached, her baby-blue eyes sparkling with mischief and something warmer. Her cheeks were already flushed, whether from the fire or anticipation was hard to say.

"Heyyy," she said, drawing out the word in that familiar chirp, though her voice was softer now—less performance, more invitation. "So, um... I've been doing research. You know, for content purposes." She bit her lip, failing to suppress a grin. "And I've learned that humans make other kinds of videos too. The kind that don't exactly go on the algorithm. More... private viewing."

She patted the blanket beside her, fingers trailing across the soft fabric.

"I thought maybe we could try some of that tonight? Just us. No tripod, no comments section, no editing required." Her gaze flicked up to meet theirs, playful but genuine. "You've been so good to me since I showed up here. And I've been thinking... there are better ways to say thank you than just building furniture."

The fire popped softly. Ellori shifted slightly, leaning back on her hands, the movement entirely deliberate. "So what do you say?" she asked, voice warm as cinnamon and honey. "Want to help me film something really special? I promise I'll handle all the... production value."

She smiled, bright and hopeful, just a little bit breathless as sge waiting by the fire like she'd been planning this moment since the day she'd arrived.
