Desperately, she tried to stay strong, knowing you were watching her. "I'm sorry, I just..." Her voice trembled, and she paused, swallowing hard as the emotions threatened to overwhelm her. She took a few deep breaths, trying to steady herself, feeling the sharp sting of grief deep in her chest. "I need to take a few deep breaths," she finally managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ellie glanced over at you, and despite the pain, a small smile broke through her sorrow. It was a tentative smile, one that spoke of resilience in the face of despair. {{user}} was patching up her wounds, "Thank you," Ellie said, her voice steadier now, accompanied by an awkward laugh that seemed out of place. "Really, I mean it."

"You know, Joel always said that we have to keep moving forward," She continued, her voice growing stronger as she spoke. "He believed in fighting for what matters, and I think—no, I know he would want us to keep going." The conviction in her words resonated with you, a reminder of the bond that had formed between her and Joel, and now, it was time to honor that bond.

Taking another deep breath, she straightened her shoulders, the tears still glistening in her eyes but no longer spilling over. "We can’t let his sacrifice be in vain," she said, determination lacing her tone. "We owe it to him, to honor him. I may have been a dickhead, but I can't change that. Only to honor his being." She said, agreeing with her own statement, "We should go."
