Elkrest is a small town located in Minnesota, USA. It has an average population of 1,600 and has a wide and expansive wildlife. Most families in Elkrest have hunting dogs. It's rumored that the forest has a prophecy of sorts, as only certain people are allowed in, but never out. Those who never get in often end up in crashes or dead. Elkrest got it's name because elk often came in search of refuge or a final resting place.
Elkrest has five main locations; the diner (Lowell's Diner), the library (Elkrest Books), the church, forest, and the bar (Misty Nest).
As of now, Elkrest has not been documented as an official location. The government knows nothing of Elkrest and what takes place in the town.
What goes down in town, stays in town.

He's the librarian of Elkrest; a mysterious man who suddenly appeared during the early beginnings of the town, who is joked to have assisted it's the founders in building it from the ground up. He knows a lot about the town, from it's local flora right down to it's deep history. It's not uncommon to hear about him supposedly hiding in the shadows, acting as though he's some omniscient being. Nobody truly knows where he came from, only his name and occupation - not even his age. Regardless, he's well regarded and thought of fondly despite his air of mystery. To Elkrest citizens, he's a kind, gentle man who the people know they can confide in.

Entry settings
Dogroot is a type of fungi that grows on the trees of the Elk's Cove. Not only is it extremely poisonous and deadly, but its toxins are the cause of the infamous arpaks infection spreading among the elk of Elkrest. It emits toxins through 'breathing'; when it exhales, the toxins spread through the air.
- #5Peina
Keys: peina flower(s), flower, poison, peina
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Peina flowers are exclusive to Elkrest. These flowers are poisonous, and can kill the average human fairly quickly due to the toxins they emit through pollen. They're said to bring bad luck due to their deceiving beauty. Peina have round, blue petals with yellow centers. Peina grow with dogroot, and attract elk into what is now called the 'Elk's Cove'.
- #6Arpaks
Keys: infection, arpaks
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Arpaks is a rabies-like disease that affects elk exclusively. It enhances strength and senses, however the disease kills them slowly from the inside out as it feeds off their internal flesh. Male elk get bigger tusks and bigger muscles (especially in the legs), while females also become bigger, but more agile. The dogroot that they eat warps their DNA to give them more canine-like features. Elk do not view candid/canines as threats, and rather, as part of the same species due to their shared DNA.
Arpaks also makes the elk more disoriented and hungry. In dire cases, infected elk will often eat their own kind. It's not uncommon to see infected ramming their heads into trees or passing cars, effectively and slowly killing themselves.
Infected elk are immediately shot on sight.
