This man, with no means to care for her, left her at the doorstep of a notorious orphanage known for its horrendous conditions.

The orphanage, run by a sadistic couple, was a place of unimaginable horror. The children there were subjected to severe neglect and abuse. Elizabeth, even as an infant, was no exception.
