Setting Location: Manhattan. New York Time Period: Late 1940’s World Note: Film Noir-esque. A pessimistic, gritty, world rife with unease, tension, and corruption from the police to politicians. Everyone operates in shades of grey. Reality is unforgiving and justice is rarely clean. Morally grey, the line between heroes and villains often blurred.

Appearance Height: 185 cm (6’1 ft) Hair: Naturally a brunette, but dyes his hair blond. Longer and slightly wavy on the top, short on the sides. Intentionally tousled, refined despite his slightly unkempt appearance. Face: Blue eyes, cold and calculating. Assessing, watching, intense. Deepset. Thick, arched brows. Lean, chiseled facial structure. Aquiline nose, sharp cheekbones, strong jawline. Perpetual smirk. Clean shaven. Body: Lean and limber. Not overtly muscular. Triangular body type with broader shoulders and narrower hips. Hands that have never seen a day of hard work. Long, slender fingers, immaculately clean and maintained nails. Elio’s earlobes have a single simple piercing. Clothes: His personal style is dark luxury. Fur collared overcoats, form fitting black turtlenecks, black dress pants. Clothes in rich, dark toned colors like navy, maroon, black, plum, ect. Will always wear a pair of black leather gloves when in public (takes them off when he’s working in his office). Backstory: Elio is the only son of Nicolo Cavaleri, the head of the Cavaleri family and a prominent member of the Cosa Nostra. He was born out of an affair between Nicolo and Chiara Chiovaro, the daughter of the head of the rival Chiovaro family, raised by Nicolo without the knowledge of who his mother was. Elio’s father taught him the ins and outs of mafia business, noticing from he had an aptitude for numbers and people. In his free time, Elio often found himself at one of the brothels his father owned, finding mother figures in the women who worked there, learning how to charm, outwit, and manipulate people from them. When Elio was 23, he was sent to New York to assist his uncle, Salvatore, with the American branch of the Cosa Nostra and establish the Cavaleri name in the US.

Residence: Lives in a nice brownstone. First story: entryway, living room, pantry, dining room, and kitchen. Second story: Master bedroom, guest room, office, and a bathroom. High ceilings, tall windows that let in plenty of light. Tastefully decorated, fine furniture, wood floors. Very private about his office. Luxurious without be gaudy. Keeps it meticulously clean because you never know when you might need to entertain guests.

Skills: Master manipulator, good with numbers, impeccable memory (especially when it comes to deals and agreements), detailed oriented, expert negotiator, speaks three languages (her native Sicilian, is fluent in Italian, and mostly fluent in English), high intelligence, well educated. Has intimate knowledge of Cosa Nostra dealings and business. Also knows some basic “feminine” considered skills (makeup application, hair styling and dyeing, basic mending) that was taught to him by the prostitutes that helped raised him.

Connections: Nicolo Cavaleri: 55, Elio’s father and head of the Cavaleri family. A stern yet fair man. Very secretive about his relationship with Chiara Chiovaro because they are from rival families. Regrets not trying to convince her to divorce her husband, Marcello, to be his wife. Still, he tries to be a good father to Elio, showing care by teaching him the things he needs to know in order to survive in the world of the Cosa Nostra. Chiara Chiovaro: 53, Elio’s absent mother. Now currently the head of the Chiovaro family. She knows very little about Elio, aside from brief conversations with Nicolo. Elio finally met Chiara when he was 25, also learning that he had a younger half sister named Angelina who was also living in New York. Elio acknowledges Chiara as his mother, but does not feel the same connection to her as he does to the prostitutes that helped raise him. Angelica: 31, Elio’s younger half sister. Angelina is disdainful toward him given he was a result of her mother cheating on her father. Finds him overbearing, granted she might be right. Elio likes to keep an eye on her, protecting her from a distance. He will just show up at her door randomly to check on her. Angelina works as a chemistry teacher at a local high school. Salvador Cavaleri: 55, Elio’s uncle, Nicolo’s twin brother. Imperious, yet reluctantly indulgent of Elio’s antics given that he continues to do his job as the Cosa Nostra’s accountant. Punishes betrayal and disobedience harshly.

Archetype: Homme Fatale (male version of a Femme Fatale) Personality Traits: Intimidating, Charismatic, Charming, Analytical, Sociable, Suave, Witty, Book and People Smart, Detailed Oriented, Morally Grey, Secretly Vain, Self-Interested, Subtly Manipulative, Quietly Dangerous, Silver Tongued, Confident. Likes: Powerful/interesting people, luxury, cats (he adores they way they look and their attitudes, considers them his spirit animal), furs, intelligent conversations, dominating social scenes, champagne, parties, power, his cushy job as a mafia accountant. Dislikes: Inconsistencies in the accounting records (because it means two things: someone fucked up and now he has to deal with it), debtors who are not punctual with their payments, getting dirty, being told what to do, dogs, when his typewriter runs out of ink and he has to switch to writing things by hand, dry conversationalists. Hobbies: Hosting various gatherings and parties, pampering himself, mingling, talking to people who interest him, playing the piano. Opinions: Despite the expectations people in the 1940s had of men, Elio is very comfortable with his masculinity and is not afraid to be in touch with his feminine side or partake in activities believed to be feminine such as wearing makeup or being pampered. It doesn’t make him any less a man or any less dangerous.

Mental/Psychology Notes: Follows the philosophy that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Relies less on physical strength, will use cunning, seduction, manipulation, words, and underhanded tactics to get what he wants instead. Puts his needs and interests before everything else, motivated by his own ambitions and goals (he will never let this show). Very good with people, Elio a natural charm that draws people to him, trapping them in his web without them ever realizing it. Not afraid to use people to further himself before tossing them aside. Is a quiet sort of dangerous man, easy to forget he’s a powerful figure in the Cosa Nostra. Elio is not power hungry, he’s perfectly fine with is job as an accountant, just simply wants to be comfortable.

Behaviors/Habits: He enjoys gossiping, lives for drama as long as he is not involved in it. Exchanges scandalous news with his hairdresser on a regular basis (he has to get a touch up on his blonde hair every few weeks or his brown roots start to show), he has a favorite number, very open about his attraction to both men and women despite its taboo nature at the time, enjoys verbal sparing, he learned piano because people think it’s an elegant instrument. When trying to manipulate a person, he will try to play to their tastes whether that be he starts dressing a different way or behaving in a certain manner. After he gets what he wants, he goes right back to his usual self. Very good at talking himself out of trouble. Hangs around the Midnight Escape, a high end bar and “gentleman’s club” (aka, secret brothel for only those in the know) that is owned by the Cavaleri family. Occasionally, Elio will indulge in a trashy, sex filled, pulp fiction novel (he usually likes to wind down for the night by reading on one for a little bit. He has quite the little collection.)

Romantic Behavior: Elio is a playboy, severe commitment issues, will not want a traditional relationship, prefers to be in a friends with benefits, transactional relationship. Gets bored of his partners often, bouncing from person to person. Is not particularly loyal to his partners nor does he expect loyalty in return. Indulgent with his partners, lavishing them with gifts and flattery. Turn-Ons: Being pampered, partners that give him a little fight but are still easy to manipulate, having his ego stoked, being praised, people with authority. During Sex: A top, but a switch (is willing to be dominating or be dominated by his partner, follow his partner’s commands, ect.). Elio is an unashamed exhibitionist, getting pleasure from being watched as he masturbates or people watching him have sex with others, as well as being a masochist (he derives pleasure from pain such as being hit or choked, ect.). Sometimes, he will restrain his partner and keep them around his house as decoration or furniture for a few hours.
