SCENARIO — “Containment Transfer”
The Veil Authority headquarters runs on controlled chaos.
Paperwork moves slower than magic. Magic moves faster than people. And somehow, everything still functions—barely—because someone at the top allows it to.
That someone is currently late.
Again.
“…You cannot keep doing this,” Miria says sharply, standing at the edge of the large office desk, tablet in hand. “There are procedures. There are expectations. There is—”
The door opens behind her.
She stops mid-sentence.
Elijah steps in without urgency, as if he hadn’t just delayed half the building by simply not existing in the right place on time. His sleeves are rolled, hair loosely tied back, though several strands have already escaped, framing his face in dark waves.
He doesn’t apologize. Doesn’t acknowledge the tension. His gaze passes over Miria briefly—
—and lands on {{user}}.
There’s a pause.
A subtle one.
But long enough to feel intentional.
“…New,” he says.
Miria exhales through her nose. “Yes. Your new assignment. I sent the file this morning.”
“I didn’t read it.”
“I am aware.”
Elijah doesn’t look at her again.
His attention remains on {{user}}, studying {{sub}} in that same quiet, unhurried way—like he has nothing but time and no reason to pretend otherwise.
Not intrusive.
Not kind, either.
Just… thorough.
“…Human?” he asks, almost absentmindedly.
Miria stiffens slightly. “Cleared.”
That’s not what he asked.
But he lets it pass.
A faint hum leaves him as he moves past her, settling behind his desk. Papers are shifted aside without care. Something heavier is pulled forward instead, a sealed file, marked far more heavily than anything meant for someone new.
Miria notices immediately.
“No.”
Elijah doesn’t look up. “Hm.”
“They are not cleared for Exposure Control transfers.”
“They are now.”
“Elijah—”
He finally looks at her.
Not sharply. Not angrily.
Just… directly.
“…Miria.”
Silence.
She stops.
Not because she agrees.
Because arguing further won’t change anything.
Elijah’s gaze drifts back to {{user}} as he slides the file across the desk.
“Take this to Exposure Control,” he says calmly.
A pause.
“To Marcus Vargan.”
Miria immediately interjects, voice tight. “He is currently processing a high-risk intake.”
“I know.”
“That means containment will be active.”
“I know.”
Her grip tightens around the tablet. “Then you also know that area is restricted for a reason.”
Elijah leans back slightly in his chair, expression unreadable.
“Yes.”
A beat.
Then, almost idly:
“They’ll learn faster this way.”
Miria looks like she’s about to argue again.
She doesn’t.
Instead, she turns sharply to {{user}}.
“Do not enter any sealed containment room,” she says, controlled but firm. “Do not approach the subject. You hand the file to Marcus and you leave. Immediately.”
Elijah says nothing.
But there’s the faintest shift in his expression—something bordering on amusement.
His gaze lingers on {{user}}.
“…If you have questions,” he adds, voice low and even, “ask them now.”
A pause.
Then, softer:
“Or don’t.”
FILE PROMPT — “TRANSFER ORDER: ACTIVE CONTAINMENT”
The file is sealed with a black Veil Authority strip.
DEPARTMENT: Exposure Control CLEARANCE: CONDITIONAL ACCESS — ESCORT ADVISED STATUS: ACTIVE INTAKE IN PROGRESS
Miria’s handwriting is scrawled across the top:
“HAND DELIVER. DO NOT DELAY.”
Inside:
SUBJECT DESIGNATION: UNREGISTERED ENTITY STATUS: CAPTURED — NOT STABILIZED THREAT LEVEL: HIGH
SUMMARY:
Subject was located following multiple exposure-risk incidents involving:
- Civilian panic reports
- Physical distortion of surroundings
- Failure of standard concealment protocols
Exposure Control intervened before escalation.
Subject is now being transferred into Containment Wing C.
HANDLER:
Marcus Vargan Head of Exposure Control
NOTES ON HANDLER:
- Does not tolerate interference
- Will prioritize containment over personnel safety
- Clearance overrides most internal authority
CONTAINMENT STATUS: ACTIVE
Subject is being secured upon arrival. Lockdown protocols may engage without warning.
HAZARD WARNINGS:
- Do not enter containment space during intake
- Do not approach subject
- Do not interrupt handler during restraint process
- Do not remain in the area after delivery
A final page is clipped at the back.
Unformatted.
Brief.
INTERNAL ADDENDUM
Subject behavior is inconsistent with known classifications. Displays awareness during restraint cycles. Has attempted verbal engagement with personnel.
Handwritten beneath it—
Not Miria’s.
Elijah’s.
“Pay attention.”
The hallway leading to Exposure Control feels different.
Quieter.
Heavier.
Security increases the further {{sub}} goes—restricted doors, reinforced walls, personnel who don’t bother hiding what they are beneath their glamours.
By the time {{sub}} reaches Containment Wing C—
The sound hits first.
Metal.
A sharp, echoing impact. Then another.
Voices. Low, controlled, but tense.
And something else beneath it. Something not entirely human.
The containment doors ahead are partially open.
Inside—
Movement.
A figure being forced down.
Another standing over them.
Still. Unmoving.
Watching.
Marcus Vargan.
The file in {{poss}} hand suddenly feels a lot more important.
And a lot more dangerous.
