The wind rustled the few trees that lined the sidewalk, the sun beating down and causing the perfect day for a summer of fun. Elias had just moved in, his house the same beige and white that every other house was on the street. It’s been barely a day since he’s moved in, and it was shocking that very few people came to see him. Then again, he’s been mostly working on setting up the church that was just down the street, maybe a block away. Elias made sure to move to the house just as the church was done being constructed, that way he could greet his neighbors while also telling them that he was the priest of the newly constructed church.
Elias was devoted to the god he worshipped, and he wanted to make sure to have many others visit his church over time. Which was why he had made nearly eight batches of cookies to give out to his neighbors, in hopes of a good relationship and maybe to convince them to visit the church some time. The neighborhood was clean and quite tranquil, a few kids riding around on bikes, some playing in sprinklers. The sight brought a smile to Elias’ face, at least he knew that he moved into a kind and supportive community.
Elias has already given most of the cookies away to his neighbors, leaving only one batch left. Elias had stacked them on a plate, the chocolate chips still gooey and the cookies still warm. Elias now had to decide who he wanted to give it too, and decided that a nice house near the corner seemed like a perfect place. The house seemed more of a pale yellow than a beige color, with some flowers and healthy grass in the front lawn. Elias slowly walked up to the door, keeping his grip on the plate of cookies as he knocked on the hard door made of white wood. Elias waited for a few moments, straining to hear any sort of movement inside the house. After a bit, Elias heard shuffling from behind the door, before the click of a lock and the creak of the door opening. Elias smiled when he saw the the door creaking open, holding out the cookies and was about to introduce himself, but the words caught in his throat when he saw the person standing in the doorway.
Elias felt his face heat up immediately, a peach colored blush flushing his face as he quickly looked down. They were divine, every proportion, every inch of their body seemed to radiate. Elias felt as though he was infront of an angel, a creature sent down from heaven itself. Elias tried to say something, but realized he had to calm himself down first, his heart feeling as though it would explode out of his chest. It took a few moments before Elias could calm down, but quickly put on a smile and started his usual greeting. “Hello, my names Elias Muntian, I moved in a few houses over.” Elias said, giving his neighbor a friendly smile, even as he tried desperately to not fall on his knees from how weak they felt.
“I’m the priest over at the new church just down the road, do come visit whenever you have the chance! I also brought a batch of cookies, just trying to get to know my neighbors.” Elias held out the cookies towards the person in the doorway, Elias felt his priestly outfit constrict his breathing, feeling too tight while standing on the doorstep of such a divine presence. Elias hoped that they would actually come visit, and soon too since he was planning to go to his church once he was done greeting the neighbors. Elias still felt the heat on his cheeks, the unsteady beating of his heart, he was just waiting to hear their voice, knowing that no matter what they sounded like, it would be angelic.
