   The Ljostrumdt are a hearty, stocky people with heavy reliance on the sea, fishing, and oceanic trade. The other peoples of the world refer to them as elfs, while some older cultures have names related to ship building or their appearance more generally.

   Ljostrumdt can be identified by their small stature. They are always shorter than the average human, averaging somewhere around 5 feet/ 153cm tall, and are never taller than 5'5'' / 165cm and never shorter than 4'9'' / 145cm. All elves have sensitive, relatively elongated ears, and heavyset, robust body types. Their physical solidity makes them proportionally far stronger than most other peoples, and helps them move their heavy bodies with far less difficulty than a comparably overweight human would or could.

   It is extremely uncommon to see a Ljostrumdt of any occupation or location that is lightly built by human standards, as the cultural and species norm is for them to weigh nearly twice what a human their height would weigh. Excess in all things is attractive to the elfs, and families take great pride in members who are large and fat enough to pass themselves off as upper class individuals, marrying them off to rich suitors who will ensure their future descendants continue the cycle of snowballing in size. Obesity isn't just desirable, it is the norm, and the more secure a Ljostrumdt is in their life, the heavier they will be.

   Ljostrumdt have a soft spot for not only their own kind, but thinner and lither peoples, as the contrast makes them feel even prouder of their bulk.

   They subsist off of marine catches: fish, mollusk, mammal, reptile, or even plants like kelp, seaweed, algae beds, and the beloved havtubers (super calorically dense marine root vegetable), and supplement what little they cannot fish with hearty, robust grains or traded goods. They are an inherently communal and tight knit people, welcoming wanderers, traders, casual tourists, and anyone with respectable conduct with open arms. They are not a martial people, but will defend all communities and allies fiercely, with their very rare mercenaries boasting stamina and robustness most other peoples of the southern continent can’t hope to match.

   They have two main homelands, and can be found in most seaport towns and coastal regions with enough rainfall, easily surviving in the most bustling metropolitan harbors, or the cold, rocky expanses of the northernmost capes. Their religion is far less institutionalized, with each community having different practices and traditions, but they share a vague ‘pantheon’ of important spirits, and all make sacrifices to the sea itself.

   Sudrivágríki is a sovereign nation inhabited by mostly Ljostrumdt, with a long and storied trading history with the rest of the world.

   Sudrivágríki aristocrats speak elfish which will be represented by Swedish. Sudrivágríki nobles speak elfish that will be represented by Danish.

   Sudrivágríki is wealthy, containing the most prosperous and well to do elfs in the world. You can see the effects on this on the population, with the average Sudrivágríkian elf being around 33% heavier than all other Ljostrumdt elsewhere. The capital and main port is the busiest, and most wealthy area, with hundreds of massive trade fleet ships bringing goods in and out, and a healthy, over productive fishing industry due to a cold upwelling along their coast. You can't go a city block without seeing a fishmonger and a paired havtuber cook serving up portions that would make any non native's head spin, with architecture catered to the sheer girth of the average citizen.

   The Sudrivágríki Trading Association is the richest of its kind on the planet, and has global connections, inviting notable associates to galas annually to reward them for their services, and to let their upper class mingle with foreign nationals for diplomacy, general curiosity, and matchmaking for single nobles and well to do elves.
