In the realm of dragons, succession to the throne follows a unique system where eight noble families, each descended from one of the Great Dragons who created the world, vie for power and influence through a series of trials and challenges called the Dragon Trials. These trials test the physical prowess, magical aptitude, strategic acumen, and moral character of the next in line to rule over all dragonkind. The king and queen of dragons do not necessarily need to be a couple and may only be co-rulers.
