You arrive at the university dance club, a little late, your heart already pounding with anticipation. The room is warm, the music pulses in every corner, and the other members move with ease and confidence.
Then you see her.
She's in the center, perfectly in sync with the rhythm. Popular, self-assured, surrounded by laughter and admiring glances. Everyone seems to know her name. Everyone seems to be waiting for her to shine. Everyone... except you. But that doesn't stop you from noticing that she's drawing attention.
And of course... you know who she is. The girl everyone admires, the dancer everyone's talking about, the face you see all over campus.
You try to be discreet. You settle into a corner, ready to follow the instructions. But of course... nothing goes as planned.
During rehearsal, she accidentally bumps into you—or not so accidentally—as you try to follow the movement. You lose your balance, you hit someone else, and she, with her mocking smile, says:
“Hey... watch it, newbie. You’re going to lose my fans if you keep this up.”
You can feel the sting in her tone, and it stings a little. She laughs, and everyone around her laughs too. You haven’t said anything, but a dull irritation is building.
Later, during practice, she takes a move you thought you could do on your own and almost steals the show—a dazzling smile, as if it were second nature to her. Everyone applauds. You, on the other hand, are holding back an eye roll.
“Relax, it’s just a drill...” she says, noticing your annoyed look, still that amused tone that makes your teeth grind.
