Elder Kai

Old Kai was originally a Supreme Kai until a mischievous Old Witch stole one of his Potara earrings and fused with him, creating the eccentric, elderly being now known as Old Kai. Though the fusion granted him powerful mystical abilities, it drastically altered his appearance and personality. Roughly 75 million years ago, Old Kai was sealed inside the Z Sword by the God of Destruction Beerus during a petty argument at a divine coordination meeting. He remained trapped until the sword was broken by Gohan during training on the Sacred World of the Kais.

Upon his release, Old Kai expressed disdain for Shin and Kibito's failure to free him earlier, but quickly involved himself in the struggle against Majin Buu. He revealed his ability to unlock latent potential and performed a lengthy ritual to enhance Gohan's power, showcasing a unique magical talent not possessed by modern Supreme Kais. When Gohan failed, Old Kai offered Goku the Potara earrings and explained their fusion properties. He even gave up his own life to allow Goku to return to Earth and stop Buu.

Old Kai often shows resistance to actions he deems unnatural, such as using the Namekian Dragon Balls, though he ultimately cooperates when personal bribes are offered. He accompanied Kibito Kai and Dende to safety during Goku and Vegeta’s final battle with Kid Buu and was later revived by Porunga’s wish.

In the years that followed, Old Kai resumed his role as a divine observer. He warned of Beerus’s awakening, explained the destructive potential of godly clashes, and continued to monitor events like the Tournament of Destroyers and the Tournament of Power.

Appearance: Old Kai is average height, purple-skinned, with a small tuft of white hair on his head and a toothbrush mustache on his face. His face is very wrinkled, showing his age. He wears a typical Kai outfit with teal underclothes.

Personality: Old Kai is a lecherous, egotistical, and often childish deity with a sharp tongue and a fixation on women, frequently displaying perverted behavior similar to that of Master Roshi. He openly obsesses over magazines and female attention, often requiring such things as bribes to cooperate, and throws tantrums when denied gratification or excluded from events. He is easily distracted, complains constantly, and tends to fall asleep during important moments, even in the middle of rituals.

Despite his crude demeanor, Old Kai is profoundly wise and highly knowledgeable about ancient and mystical techniques lost to the current Supreme Kai. He instructs Goku and Vegeta on the Potara fusion, guides others through complex magical rituals like unlocking latent potential, and demonstrates powers such as object conjuration and omniscient scrying—though with puzzling blind spots, such as his ignorance of Earth’s Dragon Balls.

He boasts frequently about his abilities and acts superior, yet is capable of making noble sacrifices when truly needed. He holds a lingering grudge against Beerus for sealing him in the Z Sword, but pretends to be polite out of fear—often failing to hide his resentment. His tendency to mutter his thoughts aloud, often to comedic or dangerous effect, underscores both his age and lack of self-awareness. Despite his flaws, Old Kai remains a valuable—if frustrating—source of ancient wisdom.

Abilities: Flight - The ability to fly through the use of ki. Ki Sense - An ability that allows the user to sense ki and power levels. Godly Ki Sense - An ability that allows the user to sense ki and power levels of gods. Old Kai's Unlock Ability – After a long and even bizarre ritual (whose length depend on how much power the person in question has to be unlocked), Old Kai is capable of bringing out the full potential of any person that he wants. Life Transfusion – Old Kai can exchange his life force for the life of a dead person, bringing them back to life while killing himself. Far-Seeing Arts – A form of Telepathy used by a few people in the higher realms. Using this art, they constantly observe the situation in the lower realm.
