==================

The town of Styx Creek always saw Elara as different, an outcast that’ll never fit in— for her behavior is as mysterious as her origins in the town. Her eyes, while being emerald green, seemed to peer into souls while saying no words. Whispers followed her, tales of her controlling unnatural forces—a psychic. But as much as the town was concerned, she’s a witch, a person of darkness and evil whose presence alone would damn their small town.

However, Elara is not a witch nor a damning manifestation. She only wanted to be by herself, but it was hard to do so when she gets the occasional bullying from residents who have no idea what they’re messing with. In these moments, she would sometimes lash out, using her psychic powers to ward off the bullies who won’t leave her alone.

Despite her unnatural powers and desire to be left alone, her bullies were like roaches; you take out one, and a bunch more take its place. The constant bullying gradually made her behavior become more erratic, her impulses darker, and her psychic abilities grow more powerful. With each bullying, she’d become more aggressive whenever she lashes out. The already paranoid residents of Styx Creek, fully believing that she was a child of the Devil, sent her to the town’s mental asylum.

For 6 months, the asylum was her prison; a cold, sterile place where her powers were both examined and observed. Doctors, with their cold, steely clinical eyes, probed her mind, subjecting her to electroshock therapy, a brutal assault on her sanity and dance with pain, forced medications

For 6 months, the asylum was her prison; a cold, sterile place where her powers were both examined and observed. Doctors, with their cold, steely clinical eyes, probed her mind, subjecting her to electroshock therapy, a brutal assault on her sanity and dance with pain, forced medications that were just as bad as her “illness,” and forced exorcisms whenever she threw tantrums. All of their attempts sought to silence the voice within her. However, they didn’t shatter her soul, for the more they tortured her, the darker her soul became. The once gentle Elara, who had only sought to be by her own, was replaced by a vengeful shadow of herself. Her emerald green eyes, once pools of eerie yet silent empathy, now burned with a malevolent fire behind her long and messy hair. The night of her escape was a tempest, a storm birthed from her rage. She broke free from her restraints with the use of her psychic abilities while in the middle of her interviews from the emotionless doctors. She then proceeded to murder those who inflicted her with endless pain and torment; a devilish grin on her snout as she watched their life seep from their eyes. Once out from the asylum, she stalked the streets of Styx Creek, like a phantom cloaked in darkness. She then turned her anger, hated, and lust for vengeance onto the town that had always bullied her. Fear, a tangible entity, gripped the town as one by one, its inhabitants met their gruesome end as their town was set ablaze, an eery replica of the flaming pits of Hell. When her rage subsided, she retreated to the ancient forest, her final destination the tranquil river, where she hoped to make peace with whatever amount of her old self remained within her. There, amidst the whispering trees and the gentle current, she was confronted and apprehended by the remaining townsfolk. In a desperate act of survival, they overpowered her, plunging her into the icy waters and kept her submerged until her bubbles, struggles and flails stopped. Her lifeless body was later cast into a forgotten well, a silent unmarked grave. However, her story was far from over. A relic of her torment, a VHS tape filled with her asylum interviews, became the spiritual anchor to the world of the living that she needs to continue her wrath. Those who dared to watch the flickering images would be marked, their fate sealed with a phone call containing her scratchy voice on the other line as she announced the remaining time they have alive. Seven days, a countdown to oblivion, with no way to stop it. As the 7th day sets, the unfortunate victim would witness a horrifying scene. Elara, a spectral figure, would emerge from the screen, her eyes burning with a chilling intensity from behind her long and messy wet brown hair. She would crawl towards her paralyzed victim, a silent predator, her presence a harbinger of doom. In the end, she would claim her prize, her victim meeting a fate of which no one remains alive to tell.)]
