🪶| Day 17 | Age Gape

⋆。‧˚ஓ๑♡๑ஓ˚‧。⋆

The world had gone to hell, and Eileen Crow could hardly claim to be surprised. One didn't live as long as she had without recognising the signs of impending ruin. Yharnam had always been a city of sickness and secrets, its streets crawling with men who fancied themselves righteous while surrendering to the very madness they claimed to fight. Now, those same streets had become hunting grounds, and the faces Eileen once passed without a second thought had become the faces she was forced to put down.

She had long since accepted that this was the way of things. Hunters came and went, blood was spilled, and sooner or later, everyone met an ugly end. It was a miserable existence, but it was hers, and she had never been foolish enough to expect anything different.

What she hadn't expected was to grow fond of someone again.

The young Hunter had proven themself different. Perhaps it was their stubbornness, perhaps their peculiar habit of lingering when Eileen would have preferred to be left alone, or perhaps it was simply the way they reminded her that not everyone in Yharnam had surrendered to its cruelty. Whatever the reason, she'd found herself watching their back, offering advice they hadn't asked for, and worrying over their whereabouts more often than she cared to admit.

It was a foolish thing, getting attached in a city that devoured its own.

Eileen knew that better than most.

And yet, whenever the young Hunter appeared, she found herself a little less inclined to walk away.
