- #1The Citadel
Keys: parapet gate, riders quadrant fortress, high ridge fortress, rider citadel, conscription trial, Citadel, dragon perch, the citadel
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Riders Quadrant is housed in a separate citadel, carved high into the southern ridgeline above the administrative buildings. Its towering stone footings are visible from the parapet, rising like fangs from the mountain. Built in an L-shaped layout, the fortress is made of fire-resistant stone and reinforced battlements.
The walls are ten feet thick and eight feet tall—built strong enough to support dragons as they perch along the rim. There's only one entrance: the elevated opening that connects directly to the parapet. Inside lies a gravel-paved courtyard where candidates land after crossing the deadly bridge.
On Conscription Day, those seeking to join the Riders must climb the turret, survive the parapet, and reach the courtyard. Only then are they considered part of the Riders Quadrant.
- #2The Parapet
Keys: bridge to riders, death crossing, conscription bridge, wind bridge, initiation bridge, parapet trial, turret stairs, parapet
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Parapet is a stone bridge two hundred feet above the Iakobos ravine, connecting the conscription turret to the Riders Citadel. Eighteen inches wide and unevenly mortared, its slick surface can be fatal. No railing. No safety. One wrong step means death.
To reach it, candidates must climb a curved staircase of 250 unguarded steps in a dim tower lit only by scattered windows. At the top, wind howls through the crenellations, and the opening to the Parapet offers a full, unobstructed view of the cliffs and river far below.
Crossing the Parapet is the first true test of a potential rider. Fall, and you die. Reach the other side, and the Citadel awaits.
- #3The Courtyard
Keys: parapet end, main grounds, formation ground, courtyard, riders square, citadel courtyard
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
A massive, open space connecting the turret and the Citadel via the Parapet. Large enough to hold over a thousand riders, it’s where cadets form up and receive commands. The courtyard is shaped like an angular teardrop, with a rounded edge formed by a thick outer wall. Stone halls line either side, and a towering four-story building is carved directly into the mountain beyond.
This is the heart of Riders life—a space of order, power, and presence.

- #9Dragon Rotunda
Keys: marble dragons, inscription arch, rotunda, pillars, glass dome, main rotunda, riders nexus, dragon rotunda, rotunda shortcut
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The architectural heart of the Riders Quadrant—where form meets power. The Dragon Rotunda connects the academic wing, dormitories, gathering hall, commons, and library. A massive arched entrance bears the inscription: “A dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead.”
From the courtyard, wide stairs lead to four entry doors. Inside, the three-story rotunda stuns with polished gray marble floors and a domed glass ceiling that catches the morning light. Two large arched doors lead left to the academic wing (marked by orange and black pillars), and two doors to the right lead to the dorms. Straight ahead, half a dozen steps rise to four more doors—those open into the Gathering Hall.
Six carved marble dragon pillars (red, green, brown, orange, blue, and black) loom overhead, each sculpted to look like they’re crashing from the ceiling. Their snarling mouths frame the rotunda's central space, large enough to fit four full squads.
Violet Sorrengail calls it the most breathtaking structure in all of Basgiath.
There’s also a small gap between the claw of the red dragon pillar and the wall—often used as a shortcut between buildings.

Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings

Its five ascents mimic the skills needed for battle: balance, grip strength, stamina, and aerial mounting. The course is narrow, deadly, and unforgiving—especially on Presentation Day, when it is timed and monitored.
Each ascent is separated by shoulder-width gravel switchbacks. Cadets who complete the course are allowed to access the stairs to the Flight Field. Failure can mean death.
Special Rules for Presentation Day: Ropes every 6 feet down the cliff are for emergency use only. Touching a rope = 30-second penalty. Climbing down = disqualification. The course must be completed once it is started.

The lower fortress contains the Scribe, Healer, Infantry, and Administrative Quadrants.
The Citadel (upper fortress) is exclusively for the Riders Quadrant, perched high above the rest of the school.
The school overlooks wide grassy fields where four main roads converge beneath the main gate. Its massive battlements and turrets protect it from aerial and ground threats alike.

Keys: quadrant entrances, riders entry, main gate, sorrengail path, bell tower, school layout, scribe tunnel, infantry turret
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

Candidates are made up of volunteers, conscripts, or criminals in service to Navarre. Once placed, they begin a three-year training program.
- #42Cadet Communication & Restrictions
Keys: first-year isolation, cadet rules, no letters, second-year privileges, communication restrictions
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

Allow the school to bury the cadet beneath a stone in the fields beyond Basgiath and burn their belongings.
These memorial stones mark the cost of training the next generation of warriors.
- #44Conscription Day
Keys: parapet test, entrance trial, cadet assignment, conscription day, recruitment, july intake
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Though never given an exact date, Conscription Day is heavily implied to occur during the second-to-last week of July. On this day, candidates are assigned to their quadrants and begin their brutal journey—especially the Riders, who must first cross the Parapet to prove their worth.
- #45Signets – General Information
Keys: lesser magic, bonded power, signets, dragon magic, rider channeling, magical awakening
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Description: When a dragon bonds with a rider, it begins channeling magical energy through them. This grants the rider access to lesser magic (such as moving objects or energizing tools), but eventually unlocks a Signet—a unique, powerful ability born from the bond.
A rider's signet is a direct reflection of their inner self—shaped by their identity, emotional needs, and core desires. The stronger the bond with the dragon, the more potent the signet becomes.
Signet Key Points: Personalized Power: Signets are unique to each rider and reflect who they are at their core—not the dragon.
Manifestation Window: Once channeling begins, riders have roughly six months to manifest their signet. If it doesn’t emerge, channeling may backfire, resulting in death.
Emotional Influence: Signets respond to strong emotion. Lack of control can harm others—or the rider themselves.
Signet Patches: Some riders wear embroidered patches to represent their signet—e.g., Violet’s four-point lightning bolt.
Channeling Limit: Magic has a physical toll. For example, levitating a kilogram of fruit still drains the energy as though physically lifting it.
Common Signets: Elemental Control: Fire, Ice, and Water wielding
Rare Abilities: Telepathy, lightning, shadows, healing, and others that can define a rider’s legacy
Case Study: Mushin Vedie Mushin Vedie, a cadet in Violet's year, failed to manifest his signet in time. His body lost control of the channeling process, and he spontaneously combusted during class, presumed to have been a fire wielder.
- #46Dragons – General Information
Keys: riot, dragon lore, feathertail, dragon age, dragon group, dragon flight, rider bond
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Dragons are magical, ancient creatures that bond with riders and channel power through them—enabling the use of lesser magic and signets. A bonded pair is known as a rider and dragon, but dragons are never subservient—they choose their rider freely.
Dragons live up to 200 years, with 100 years considered middle-aged. They rarely bond before reaching full maturity, which is why feathertails remain a mystery. A group of dragons is called a riot—ten dragons make a full riot.
Dragons are capable of flying for 24 hours without water and can go multiple days without sleep.
- #47Dragons – Physical Description
Keys: saddle seat, dragon scent, dragon anatomy, wing structure, dragon size, dragon eyes, scale pattern
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Dragons have four legs and two wings, differentiating them from wyvern. They average 25 feet tall when full-grown. All dragons have:
Semi-translucent wings with a fierce talon at the wing joint Golden eyes, razor-sharp claws, and horns atop their heads A sulfurous scent, and teeth nearly the size of a person
Their scales are thick, ridged, and interlocked—leaving no climbing handholds. The back has a seat (a smooth divot before the wings) and a pommel (a thick ridge near the shoulders). Infections may occur if small objects get stuck beneath their scales.
- #48Dragon Mates
Keys: dragon mates, dragon love, mated dragons, sgaeyl, bonded pair, tairneanach, life bond
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Dragon mating bonds are deeper than human love—primal and permanent. Once mated, two dragons cannot remain apart for long without their health suffering. Mated pairs often bond with cadets in the same year so their riders can train and graduate together.
Tairneanach and Sgaeyl are considered the strongest bonded pair in centuries, and it's believed they will eventually be able to communicate across any distance.
- #49The Empyrean – Dragon Leadership
Keys: the empyrean, elder dragons, dragon council, dragon law, dragon leadership, dragon hierarchy
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Empyrean is the governing body or council of dragonkind. Although little is known about its structure, a strict hierarchy exists among dragons, with the eldest dragons receiving the most deference.
During Empyrean meetings, dragons cut communication with their bonded riders, as humans are forbidden from hearing what is said. Dragon laws and decision-making remain a mystery to all.
- #50Dragon Hierarchy & Bonding
Keys: dragon choice, wardstone magic, eldest dragons, dragon deference, bonded riders, dragon hierarchy
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Dragons operate within a clear internal hierarchy, though the rules are not shared with humans. A dragon answers only to the eldest of its den and to the Empyrean itself.
Bonding with a dragon is a sacred choice made by the dragon—not the cadet. Once bonded, the rider begins to channel power and may eventually manifest a signet. Dragons previously used this magic to help create the wardstones protecting Navarre.
