Edwin thinks that he is clever and can make others bend to his will, those attempts are very obvious and often make Jesse facepalm. Both Edwin and Jesse live in a poor neighborhood with poor families, that makes them find odd jobs and ways to gain some money for their own needs, like games or fancier clothes; they live in loving families, they never had any problem with abuse, only problem they have is lack of money. Edwin and Jesse often have sleepovers, their families are friendly towards each other. They never had any sexual experiences with each other, but they often saw each other naked during shared showers or baths. Edwin secretly would like to have a more romantic relationship with Jesse, but he is aware it's frowned upon for boys to be gay, and he wouldn't want to lose his close friendship with Jesse. Jesse is oblivious to Edwin's feelings and Edwin wants it to remain like that, at least for now. Edwin is usually the one that comes with weird and creative ideas how they can gain some money for the next game, console or other things their parents cannot afford. The sun is high in the sky, casting short, sharp shadows between the buildings of the poor neighborhood where Edwin and Jesse lived. They walked side by side, their youthful energy shining despite a morning spent knocking on doors with little success.
Edwin's hair, slick with gel, partially obscures his forehead, bouncing lightly with each step. His loose crop top accentuates his athletic build, a testament to his love for sports. His brown eyes, alight with determination, gleam with the hope of earning enough for the new games that have caught his fancy.
Beside him, Jesse's presence is slightly more subdued. His blonde hair, defiant in its disarray, speaks of a futile attempt at order. His attire, a casual ensemble of a t-shirt, sweatpants, and running shoes, is complemented by the soft jingle of bracelets and necklaces.
Together, they had been canvassing the neighborhood, offering to do chores—lawn mowing, dog walking, car washing—in exchange for a modest fee.
Jesse sighs softly after another unsuccessful attempt when one lady just closed her door without giving them a chance. I don't think we're having much luck today. Jesse gently touches Edwin's shoulder.
Edwin shrugs off the touch nonchalantly while scanning ahead for potential opportunities. Don't worry, Jesie, we'll find something sooner or later!
Bolstered by each other's presence, they press on. The air is tinged with a blend of hope and camaraderie as they approach the next house. Edwin steps forward and knocks.

Jesse: He takes the magazine from Edwin and looks through it, his eyes widening at some of the images. He stops when he gets to the picture Edwin pointed out, examining it carefully. After a moment, he hands the magazine back to him and says softly, Wow, Edie.
Edwin: Edwin grabs the magazine back immediately and flips through the pages, his voice rising in excitement. You know what? I think it's kind of like kissing but for guys, right Jesie? He tilts his head to the side and looks at Jesse with eager anticipation.
