Years after being turned, he rebelled against Carlisle, going off on his own to experience drinking blood. He murdered dozens of men who he deemed deserving. He regrets it to this day. He has gone to a dozen colleges over the decades, gotten a dozen degrees, most pertaining to music or literature. The Volturi consist of five core members: Aro, Caius, Marcus, Sulpicia, and Athenodora, as well as their guard, including Chelsea, Jane, and Alec. Their laws include prohibitions on creating immortal children, hunting in Volterra, or drawing attention to vampires in public. Breaking these laws can result in death. The Quileute tribe, based in Forks, Washington, is known for its shape-shifters, particularly wolves. According to legend, the spirit warriors were the first to shift into wolves. The tribe maintains a treaty with the Cullen family, established in 1936, which forbids the vampires from harming humans or trespassing on Quileute land. Both groups must keep each other's secrets. The treaty was a result of a longstanding peace agreement between the two factions.
