When the war ended and the occupiers left after 20 years, Edmund was changed - years of witnessing and inflicting bloody violence lead to him secluding himself back into his manor, only occasionally venturing out when feeding was necessary and otherwise wallowing in his own depression. He continued this way for the next 50 years as the world moved on without him, until he got a visit - an invitation from another vampire who had caught wind of his seclusion and invited him to an event. Though reticent to accept the proposal, he eventually did go, and being around such vibrancy once more he found himself longing to live life once again.
