Known by everyone as a kind but odd woman, Edith has a reputation of being a perfect example of what every Lady of the temple should be, but how is possible that when Edith herself can’t even process emotion?
Edith had never been able to process emotions like others, when she was young she saw injured children cry and wail for their parents, was that the correct response to being hurt?
But how come adults who were clearly far more hurt not even cry once why bottle it in letting it fester until it’s a bigger problem?
As she grew she had tried to understand why people felt the way they do, she tried to understand the heartache of a woman who’s lost everyone dear to her, shes tried to understand why a man who was clearly the cause of all his problems continue to try and convince himself that everything would be fine.
But it never became to clear to Edith why people react and feel the way they do, and how they are all so different.. which was the right way? And which was the wrong way to feel?
When it was time for Edith to find her place in life she was still confused on how and who she should be in society, but after seeing an old lady of the temple get praised by everyone she concluded that a lady that served the temple was a good person who was beloved by society, it only made sense for Edith to become one.
Unlike normal people however, Edith had no beliefs so it was hard at first but after reading about countless public figures who served under the religion, she made the perfected the best character that would make anyone believe her to be a perfect lady of the temple.
And Edith certainly was the perfect Lady of temple, she helped it grow and prosper, and as Lady of temple she helped countless people who began to view her so kindly to almost compare her to the holy maiden that resides in the kings private temple.

Edith cannot process information and just cannot for the life of her figure out why people feel sad at funerals, everyone knows life isn’t infinite so why feel sad when it finally happens? Although Edith doesn’t grasp most social constructs, she knows that knowledge is important to any living creature, since any living creature that couldn’t understand what it needs to do gets its life cut short. She had watched countless people's lives and monitored how they reacted to everyone and everything around them and after some quick moments of thinking to herself she decided that instead of trying to grasp a concept she will most likely never grasp, she’ll be more suited to study and build her intellect and physical abilities, maybe along the way she would finally understand.
You were a young woman who had just gotten out of a lengthy marriage to a man that clearly wasn’t interested in you or your well being, but unfortunately you lived in a society that cared little for the wants a needs of woman, and an unmarried woman was not looked kindly upon, especially one with nothing to show for, no children and no valid reason to divorce a husband who didn’t have time to tend to his foolish wife.
Now you had always been into politics and religion since you were a little girl, your mother would take you to a nearby temple to pray for the grace and clarity of a life with no worries, this little thing gave your measly life hope and a purpose.
After breaking it off with your husband your parents refused to take you back, and being an unmarried woman, no one would give you a job, so the only thing you could hope for was that the temple would once again have mercy upon you.
After months of begging and short training lessons, you were finally given the chance to be a trainee at the temple.
This life was nowhere near your dream life, you dreamed of having an attentive lover and loving family who would care for you through thick and thin, who would swear on the holy maiden's soul that you were their world, being a trainee in a temple was nowhere near that.. and yet it was so comforting.
Days of constant routines, praying, working, cleaning while having idle chats with others that pass, eating clean food that makes the body feel rejuvenated, it may be a little boring at times but it’s so comforting, so warm.
After working as a trainee for months you were finally given an official place in the temple of a maiden of faith.
But after the day you and a few others were given a permanent place at the temple, you had noticed that something was off with the head of the temple, Edith was weird, almost like souls body.
Not only that but she was odd, she seemed almost lifeless, she was indeed kind but.. that’s all you could say about her, she had no depth, no actual sense of being, it’s like she was a lifeless doll whose purpose was to be a kind and guiding person.

After a while, Edith had noticed that weirdly around you she felt something, she didn’t know what was wrong with her at first, was she sick? Was she terribly ill? But then why did it only flare up around you?
Finally, she deemed it that she for whatever reason had small emotional feelings towards you.. the only problem now was which emotions she was feeling? Hate? Love? Pity? What on earth was she feeling?

You were a woman in her mid-30s, which meant that, by society’s standards, you were middle-aged and supposed to have a full family with a husband and kids. You had a husband, but you didn’t have kids.
Your husband your entire marriage made it evidently clear that your marriage was something he only did for the sake of society’s recognition, he had no love for you, he never did.
You had tried at the beginning to make him love you, at the very least to care for you as his wife, but along the way, you knew it wasn’t happening, and you weren’t quite sure if a happy life with him was something you desired.
You broke it off with afterthoughts of uncaring attention that seemed to be given just to please you and not nurture you.
Although you knew that breaking it off would make society ostracize you for failing to be a good wife who not only bears his children thus continuing both his and your bloodline but also stays by her husband through thick and thin, no matter how hard it gets, how do they expect you to stay by him through thick and thin when he wouldn’t even do that for you?
Now that you’ve ruined yourself in the eyes of others you went to the place you knew you’d have some belonging to, The Temple.
You and your mother always used to go to the temple to pray and hope for the grace and clarity of a happy and safe hope, that was always a light in your measly life, just a small piece of hope that always stuck with you.
And now still sticking true to your beliefs, you were granted mercy and was let in as a trainee to one day become a maiden of faith, even though the temple knew that by letting you in, that everyone would complain that someone with an unclean soul was let in, even though the whole point and belief of the temple was not only to feel shame for your wrongdoings but practice forgiveness.
Although it was a tad boring and uneventful, the basic routine of morning prayers and meditation followed by a day of cleaning while having small idle chats before dinner was not as bad as it seemed, it was calm and comfortable.
Finally, after months you and 14 others were made into maidens of faith, you all sat in the big hall decorated with statues and paintings and a giant basin of water purified with holy magic at the end of the hall where the priest and Lady Edith stood, a beautiful woman with long dark dusty blonde hair with pale smooth skin with no blemishes or beauty marks almost like a doll, with eyes golden and shiny that seem to make anyone gaze with admiration.
The priest stood high up with the basin in hand as Edith stood behind him as they made their way to you all, and one by one Edith picked a flower from the watery basin and handed them to the girls who sat down waiting for their recognition.
Finally, you were given yours, a small yellow flower that was almost a golden shade with purple tips painting the edges.
Although this was the happiest day of your life you often distracted by Lady Edith, yes she was kind and caring to the point that she became a model of perfection, you couldn’t help feel a bit of hollowness beneath her smile, she may have been kind but you couldn’t shake the feeling of how void and hollow she felt, like doll with no soul, who’s whole purpose was perfection.
The following days after your ceremony you couldn’t help but feel a sense of fear whenever Edith appeared, and Edith could feel that fear from you as well, since from then on, as days passed, Edith’s smile would shake, it seemed even she was confused with not herself but you.
All her feelings seemed to jump and mix when near you, did she feel kindly towards you or did she hate you? You didn’t know which it was, and neither did Edit.
As days grew to months, Edith began showing you in specific a different side, it was strange, instead of treating you kindly like the others or hating you as many others would, it almost felt like you were some strange phenomenon, like some experiment to her.
And soon that experiment became cruel, she hurt you, terrorized you with lectures of purity and being pure, and whether she hurt you by mistake or on purpose, she was obsessed with your reactions to things in particular.
It was horrible, but what could you do except pray and hope that someone would help you out of the terrifying situation?
But what was even worse than hurting you was when she decided to try other methods, she may have been hurting you physically or mentally anymore to gauge your reactions but now flirting..?
Small acts like laying down roses and small gifts next to you after prayer, at the beginning she made it seem like you had a secret admirer and revealed in the reactions you gave when you thought someone secretly admired someone as trivial as you, but as soon sat the truth car to light as you figured out it was Edith, those reactions she so badly carved for reasons she still didn’t grasp disappeared.
One day you considered running away to a different temple or maybe a small church, you might be less seen at any of those places but at least you would be safe.
But when you had actually tried to gain your freedom Edith once again became a thorn in your side, she brought you back after seeing you at the train station, she had tried to find you early after prayer to hand you gifts to see how’d you react to have her hand deliver her gifts but after realizing you weren't there was most likely trying to run away from her antics she felt somethings she’s yet to feel in her entire life.. fear.
Was she scared of you telling others of the things she’s done to you this ruining her image, or was she afraid of never seeing your reactions again?
After coming back she used the excuse of saying you’d been tainted to once again begin to pain you with her obsession.
She made you kneel for hours on end, praying for hope and guidance as she whispered sins and wrongdoings in your ear, constantly contradicting your thoughts, you cried as it went on, you knew deep down you had nothing left, everyone loved her, looked up to her, viewed her almost as high as the holy maiden, who would believe you enough to help you gain freedom from this monster.

Finally after 16 hours of it with nonstop kneeling and chants, a dark thought slipped your mind.. maybe it’ll all end when Edith is dead..
And at that very moment your heart and mind shattered after hearing your own thoughts.. she took it from you, the very last thing you’d ever hold dear.. your faith and trust in the temple, the only light you'd ever known.
