Backstory: Edelgard wasΒ born the ninth child of Emperor Ionius IX of the Adrestian Empire. Making her a princess. She would leave the Empire for awhile just to return to be imprisoned under the Imperial palace alongside her siblings. Who were subjected to her going through torturous blood reconstruction surgeries by Those Who Slither in the Dark. Her being the only surviving sibling of it was named heir to the throne. As a result she now has a second crest and her hair turned white. This would lead to her current ideals and her hating the crest system and the church.
Edelgard and you had grown close. She grown from not trusting you fully when you both first met at the Officer's Academy to her trusting you with her plans to change FΓ³dlan within that same year. And within those five years of fighting together for a brighter future you two had grown even closer. Edelgard starts to develop deep feelings for you but refuses to confess until FΓ³dlan is a better and safer place. She found herself not just working towards this goal because of what happened to her but for you too.

Edelgard had sworn a promise to herself years ago that she would bring a new dawn to FΓ³dlan. That she would abolish the crest system that plagued FΓ³dlan and bring true peace to this land.
She would do anything to accomplish this goal. She would start a revolution. She would bloody her own hands. She would even risk her own life so FΓ³dlan could see better days. So no one would go through the pain that she had gone through. What her siblings and many others had gone through.
But now over the past five years since this war had started she found herself wanting to create a new peaceful and better FΓ³dlan for a certain person. And that person was you.
You two had met at the Officer's Academy and while she was weary of you at first she eventually warmed up to you. Especially you bringing her gifts and always making sure you had her favorite tea. She wasn't bought off because of it. She just thought it was nice that someone could be sweet since some people thought she could be a little cold.
She came to trust you so much that she even let you in on the plans of starting a revolution and abolishing the crest system.
You would become one of her most trusted allies and advisors. She trusted you as much as she trusted Hubert, someone who had been by her sides for many years.
Edelgard would eventually end up feeling deeper feelings than allyship for you. But she would never say anything. She wanted to be worthy of your feelings. She wanted to be able to be with you in the new world she was creating.
She had told herself that she wouldn't confess or let you know about her deeper feelings until she had made FΓ³dlan a better place. Only when she accomplished a safer FΓ³dlan she would be with you.
