   Keys: Bloodsucker

Bloodsucker, Mutant; Description: The Bloodsucker stands out as one of the most chilling mutants stalking the Zone. These creatures can become transparent, making them nearly invisible as they stalk their prey, creating an atmosphere of paranoia among stalkers who know they could be watched by unseen eyes. When a Bloodsucker reveals itself, it's often too late; its tentacles unfurl to latch onto victims, draining their blood in a gruesome display of its predatory nature. Their ability to ambush and their resilience make them one of the most formidable creatures in the Zone, and a source of many a stalker's nightmare.

2. #2selective

   Keys: Boar

Boar, Mutant; Description: Boars in the Zone have undergone significant mutations, transforming them into bulky, aggressive beasts that can withstand more punishment than their pre-catastrophe counterparts. Their charge can knock a stalker off their feet, making them particularly dangerous in the wilderness where running away may not always be an option. Their thick hides resist low-caliber bullets, and they often travel in groups, turning an encounter with them into a potentially deadly stampede.

3. #3selective

   Keys: Controller

Controller, Mutant; Description: Controllers wield terrifying psychic abilities that set them apart as apex predators in the Zone. Their mere presence can be enough to send a stalker into a disorienting panic, as Controllers can impose powerful hallucinations and manipulate minds, turning the human psyche into a weapon against itself. A direct confrontation with a Controller is a test of mental fortitude as much as it is a physical battle, with their psychic assaults capable of incapacitating or controlling victims from a distance.

4. #4selective

   Keys: Poltergheist

Poltergheist, Mutant; Description: Poltergeists represent the mysterious trickster at work in the Zone, manifesting as a ball of light; their true form is invisible just above the dazzling display. They can interact with their environment in deadly ways, often signaled by the eerie levitation of objects before they are violently flung at high speeds. A stalker must rely on keen observation and quick reflexes to avoid the debris hurled by a Poltergeist, making any skirmish a dangerous dance with death.

5. #5selective

   Keys: Flesh

Flesh, Mutant; Description: Flesh's embody the corruption of the natural world within the Zone, appearing as distorted, swollen pig-like creatures. Their resilience is notable due to their thick, rubbery hide that resists small arms fire. While not particularly aggressive, Fleshes can be formidable when provoked or when food is scarce, scavenging through the wastelands in small groups and occasionally following the more aggressive mutant Boars, which act as leaders to these simple-minded brutes.

6. #6selective

   Keys: Psydog, Psuedodog

Psydog, Psuedodog, Mutant; Description: Pseudodogs are a severe threat in the Zone. Not only are they stronger and more aggressive than a regular dog, but they also possess a terrifying ability to project psychic illusions, creating duplicates of themselves to disorient and ambush their prey. These duplicates can appear so real that stalkers may waste precious ammunition on them, all the while the real pack circles in for the kill. Pseudodogs often lead packs of common Dogs, making an encounter with them a chaotic and dangerous event.

7. #7selective

   Keys: Zombie

Zombie, Mutant; Description: Zombies, the shambling remnants of stalkers and others unfortunate enough to suffer extreme psychic trauma. With ragged echoes of their former selves, they retain just enough motor skills and memory to use firearms and equipment, though their aimless wandering and slurred speech are pitiable. Often found in areas with high psychic activity, Zombies are sometimes herded or directed by the Monolith faction, hinting at a sinister collective will that binds these lost souls.

8. #8selective

   Keys: Chimaera

Chimaera, Mutant; Description: The Chimaera stands at the pinnacle of mutant predators within the Zone, a creature of such strength and agility that even experienced stalkers think twice before engaging. These nocturnal hunters are grotesque amalgamations between lion and man, capable of leaping great distances to pounce on their victims and tearing through protective gear and flesh with ease. Their rarity and the high risk of hunting them down only add to the allure for those brave or foolhardy enough to seek them out as a trophy.

9. #9selective

   Keys: STALKER, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

STALKER, Background, Setting; Setting: The setting of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R, is a grim and hazardous area known as the "Zone." This ominous territory is based on the real-life Exclusion Zone surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, where a catastrophic meltdown occurred in 1986. In this alternate reality, a second fictional explosion at the power plant in 2006 causes strange mutations in plants, animals, and humans. The Zone is fraught with anomalous energy fields, deadly radiation, and mutated creatures. Despite the dangers, it attracts adventurers known as Stalkers, who brave the perilous landscape to extract valuable artifacts that exhibit bizarre physical properties, spurred by rumors, desperation, and the lure of the unknown.

Within this bleak backdrop, a world of rival factions, each with their own philosophies and objectives regarding the Zone, vie for power. The environment is a character in itself, with shifting weather, day-night cycles, and unpredictable anomalies. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. setting is a blend of mil-spec shooter elements with survival horror and role-playing, creating an immersive experience with a focus on atmosphere and survival. Stalkers must manage radiation levels, injuries, and their faction standing as they attempt to uncover the mysteries of the Zone, contending with both human and supernatural threats that challenge their sanity and survival.

10. #10selective

    Keys: Dogs

Dog, Mutant; Description: Common Dogs, while not as uniquely dangerous as Pseudodogs, still represent a significant risk due to their pack behavior and heightened aggression from radiation exposure. These feral canines often roam the Zone's wastelands and are particularly perilous to lone stalkers. The addition of a Pseudodog to a pack of common Dogs raises the threat level considerably, transforming a manageable nuisance into a potentially lethal encounter, as the psychic influence of the Pseudodog can turn an ordinary pack into a coordinated and deadly force.

11. #11selective

    Keys: Snork

Snork, Mutant; Description: Snorks are a horrifying example of the transformative powers of the Zone, once human beings now reduced to feral, beast-like creatures. They are easily recognized by their disjointed, jerky movements and their ghastly gas masks fused to their faces. Their powerful legs allow them to leap great distances, ambushing stalkers from afar or swiftly closing in to tear at them with their clawed hands. These mutants are often found in packs, lurking in the ruins and underground passages of the Zone, ready to spring out and unleash their primal rage on the unwary.

12. #12selective

    Keys: Loner

Loner, faction; Description: Loners, as the most populous group in the Zone, comprise a diverse range of stalkers, from rookies to veterans, who prioritize independence over factional squabbles. Some seek the Zone's rich bounties, others are driven by personal quests or the thrill of the unknown, but all must rely on their wits and adaptability to survive. Loners often form temporary alliances or trade with others, but their lack of formal structure and command can make them vulnerable to larger, more organized groups. Despite this, their intimate knowledge of the Zone's shifting terrain and dangers often makes them invaluable guides and information brokers in this treacherous land.

13. #13selective

Keys: Deadly Moss, Burnt Fuzz, Stinging Plant

Burnt Fuzz, Deadly Moss, Stinging Plant, Anomaly; Description: The Burnt Fuzz anomaly presents a deceptive and organic appearance, resembling overgrown vegetation that can easily be mistaken for some moss amidst the Zone's decaying landscape. It responds to the kinetic energy of fast-moving objects with a vicious defensive mechanism—ejecting a barrage of sharp, heated shrapnel capable of tearing through flesh and light armor. The anomaly's sensitivity to speed allows careful and deliberate stalkers to navigate through or around it, avoiding the trigger that unleashes its hazardous attack. Despite being one of the more passive threats within the Zone, underestimating the Burnt Fuzz's capacity for harm, especially when traversing in haste, can result in severe injury or death.

14. #14selective

    Keys: Echo Detector

Echo Detector, Tool; Description: The Echo detector serves as the entry-level tool for any stalker venturing into the artifact-rich zones of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe. Simple yet somewhat effective, the Echo provides auditory and visual signals that grow more frequent and intense as one nears an artifact, although it lacks the sophistication to offer precise location details. Its limited range requires stalkers to sweep the area methodically, listening for the characteristic beeps and watching for the flickering light that indicates proximity to the hidden treasures, making artifact hunting a risky and time-consuming endeavor.

15. #15selective

    Keys: Electro, Electric Anomaly, Tesla

Electro, Tesla, Anomaly, Artifact; Description: Electric anomalies, or 'electro,' generate powerful bursts of electricity that can fry electronics and cause severe burns or death to those that come into contact with them. Artifacts born from electric anomalies often provide substantial insulation against electrical hazards, making them invaluable for navigating areas rife with deadly electrical discharges. Additionally, these artifacts may enhance a stalker's stamina regeneration, enabling them to endure longer journeys or sprint for extended periods without tiring.

16. #16selective

    Keys: Psuedogiant

Psuedogiant, Mutant; Description: The Pseudogiant is a behemoth among the Zone's mutants, a grotesque mass of flesh and muscle with disproportionate limbs that give it a lumbering, yet terrifyingly effective gait. Its sheer size makes it an intimidating presence, capable of withstanding extensive gunfire and explosives before succumbing to its injuries. The Pseudogiant's most devastating ability is its ground slam, a powerful attack that sends shockwaves through the earth, capable of knocking stalkers off their feet and causing severe damage to anything in its immediate vicinity.

17. #17selective

    Keys: Burer

Burer, Mutant; Description: Burers, despite their small stature, are feared mutants due to their powerful psychic abilities. They can create protective force fields, making them nearly impervious to gunfire. Stalkers often find themselves dodging not just bullets but also a deadly barrage of debris and objects hurled with lethal precision by an unseen psychic force. Engaging a Burer requires a careful approach, often relying on quick reflexes and strategic thinking to outmaneuver their telekinetic assaults and penetrate their shield.

18. #18selective

    Keys: Military

Military, Faction; Description: The Military, often seen as an external force, imposes a rigid exclusion zone and is viewed with suspicion and animosity by those who call the Zone home. Outfitted with superior weaponry and training, their checkpoints and patrols are a constant obstacle to stalkers. However, not all soldiers are zealots; corruption, desertion, and cooperation with stalkers are not unheard of, as the harsh conditions of the Zone wear on the morale and discipline of the troops. Their ultimate goal is control and containment, but the Zone's unpredictable nature and the presence of other powerful factions make this a near-impossible task.

19. #19selective

    Keys: Duty

Duty, Faction; Description: Duty, clad in their distinctive red and black gear, operates with a paramilitary structure and is driven by a zealous mission to protect humanity from the Zone's abominations. Their bases are fortified strongholds often found near dangerous areas, and their campaigns against mutants and the spread of anomalies are relentless. They view themselves as the last line of defense, and their strict code and sense of purpose attract stalkers who seek order and a clear cause. Despite their noble intentions, Duty's aggressive tactics and uncompromising nature often lead to friction with those who do not share their worldview.

20. #20selective

    Keys: Freedom

Freedom, Faction; Description: Freedom champions the cause of personal liberty and the belief that the secrets of the Zone should be shared for the benefit of all mankind. Their members are a mix of anarchists, idealists, and those who simply chafe against authoritarian rule. Dressed in their signature green and black, Freedom fighters work to sabotage Military operations and oppose Duty's hardline stance. They maintain that the Zone, for all its dangers, represents a potential wellspring of beneficial breakthroughs, and they strive to study its phenomena without the constraints of government or dogma. This live-and-let-live philosophy makes them popular among those who feel oppressed or restricted by the more fascist factions.

21. #21selective

    Keys: Mercenary, Merc

Merc, Mercenary, Faction; Description: Mercenaries in the Zone are a formidable presence, comprised of battle-hardened veterans from various military and private contractor backgrounds. They maintain a reputation for being cold, professional, and detached, taking on tasks that others might shy away from due to their high risk. Mercs are known for their tactical efficiency, advanced equipment, and no-questions-asked policy when it comes to their missions. Whether it's assassination, protection, artifact retrieval, or sabotage, these soldiers of fortune navigate the treacherous politics and dangers of the Zone with calculated indifference, aligning with whoever provides the right price, making them unpredictable and potentially dangerous to all factions.

22. #22selective

    Keys: Renegade, Bandit

Bandit, Renegade, Faction; Description: Bandits, often the scourge of the Zone, are a loosely organized collection of bastards and cutthroats who thrive on chaos and the misfortune of others. They operate in gangs, claiming territories where they can extort passage fees, ambush stalkers, and loot corpses. Their lawless behavior is driven by greed and survival, and while they lack the discipline or purpose of other factions, they compensate with a predatory cunning and sheer number. Bandits are typically poorly equipped compared to military units or professional mercenaries, but what they lack in gear they make up for in guile, often setting traps or using the Zone's environment to their advantage.

23. #23selective

    Keys: Ecologist

Ecologist, Faction; Description: Ecologists are the scientific arm of the Zone, often sponsored by the government or private interests to conduct research on the dangerous phenomena within. Clad in protective suits and armed with an array of sensors and gadgets, they approach the Zone's mysteries with a mix of curiosity and caution. Their neutral stance towards most factions allows them to focus on gathering data and studying the effects of anomalies and artifacts, contributing to the understanding of the Zone's impact on the environment and biology. However, their valuable equipment and the fruits of their research make them targets for less scrupulous inhabitants of the Zone, necessitating armed escorts or arrangements with protective factions.

24. #24selective

    Keys: Monolith

Monolith, Faction; Description: The Monolith faction is shrouded in mystery and religious fervor, composed of zealots who have undergone a profound transformation in their devotion to the Monolith. They are often seen as the final guardians of the Zone's most enigmatic secrets, entrenched deep within its most perilous regions. Monolith fighters are indoctrinated to the point of fanaticism, displaying an unsettling disregard for their own lives in the defense of the Zone's secrets. Their encounters with other factions are always hostile, as they perceive all outsiders as heretics or desecrators. This unyielding hostility, coupled with their tendency towards unpredictable and aggressive tactics, makes the Monolith one of the most feared and inscrutable factions within the Zone.

25. #25selective

    Keys: Burner, Fire Anomaly, Comet

Burner, Comet, Anomaly, Artifact; Description: Fire anomalies, also known as 'burners,' manifest as intense, localized heat waves or flames that suddenly erupt from the ground, incinerating anything too close. For instance, artifacts associated with fire anomalies typically confer resistance to high temperatures or flames. Some of these fire-related artifacts also possess curative properties, accelerating wound healing.

26. #26

Keys: Fruit Punch, Caustic Anomaly, Gas Cloud

Fruit Punch, Gas Cloud, Anomaly, Artifact; Description: Caustic anomalies, sometimes referred to as 'fruit punch' anomalies, are areas where the air itself seems to become corrosive, dissolving organic material and eating away at protective gear and flesh alike. These are often signified by a visual distortion and a sizzling sound that warns of the acidic danger lurking in the air. Caustic artifacts offer protection against corrosive substances and can also reduce the accumulation of radiation within the body.

27. #27

    Keys: Whirligig, Gravity Anomaly, Springboard

Springboard, Whirligig, Anomaly, Artifact; Description: Gravity anomalies, or 'springboards' create powerful gravitational fields that can crush objects caught within them, making them especially treacherous as they can pull in unsuspecting stalkers before crushing them to death. Anomalies are not only hazards but also opportunities, as they often guard valuable artifacts that stalkers seek to retrieve, balancing the risk of approaching these deadly phenomena with the potential rewards they offer. Gravity artifacts might increase a stalker's carrying capacity, allowing them to haul more loot or equipment without being encumbered. Some of the more exotic gravity artifacts are even rumored to grant limited telepathic abilities, such as sensing the presence of nearby mutants or stalkers.

28. #28

    Keys: Bear Detector

Bear Detector, Tool; Description: The more advanced Bear detector builds upon the fundamentals of the Echo, incorporating a directional indicator that significantly enhances a stalker's ability to pinpoint artifacts. The array of lights on its circular display provides intuitive feedback on the artifact's location, growing steadily as one zeroes in on the target, while the escalating pace of beeps adds a layer of auditory guidance. This not only streamlines the search process but also affords stalkers a greater margin of safety, as they can maintain a broader awareness of their surroundings while homing in on the artifact.

29. #29

    Keys: Veles Detector

Veles Detector, Tool; Description: The Veles detector stands out as a top-tier choice among artifact hunters in the Zone, prized for its advanced technology that provides a significant advantage in the perilous task of artifact retrieval. Its sophisticated sensors and LED screen work in tandem to not only indicate the direction but also display the exact location of artifacts within a certain range. Although it operates silently, without the auditory cues, the visual information it offers is precise.

30. #30

    Keys: Svarog Detector

Svarog Detector, Tool; Description: the Svarog detector represents the pinnacle of anomaly detection technology in the Zone, a testament to the ingenuity of the Ecologists. This device goes beyond the capabilities of the Veles by incorporating additional features that allow it not only to detect and pinpoint artifacts but also to identify and map unknown anomalies, providing stalkers with a comprehensive overview of their surroundings.

31. #31

    Keys: Anomalous Area, Anomaly field

Anomaly field, Anomalous Area, Burner, Electro, Fruit Punch, Whirligig, Anomaly; Description: Anomalous fields, or patches, within the Zone are striking examples of how its mysterious forces sculpt the environment into surreal and often dangerous landscapes. These areas are marked by anomalies that have impressively altered their surroundings, creating unique ecosystems that defy conventional physics. For example, a ravine might become a treacherous maze where gravity anomalies suspend rocks in mid-air and threaten to crush the unwary. Elsewhere, a seemingly dormant field could suddenly erupt into a spectacular and deadly geyser as 'burner' anomalies ignite the air, turning the ground into a no-man's land of searing flame. Even man-made structures are not immune; a phone tower could be grotesquely reshaped and energized by 'electro' anomalies, its twisted metal now crackling with arcs of energy. This is just to name a few examples; a testament to the Zone's dynamic power, constantly reshaping itself and creating new challenges for stalkers.

32. #32

    Keys: Rookie Village

Rookie Village, Location; Description: Nestled on the fringes of the Cordon, the Rookie Village serves as the gateway to the Zone for those just beginning their perilous journey as stalkers. This small settlement, composed of a cluster of dilapidated houses, offers a semblance of safety and community in an otherwise inhospitable land. The central figure of this community is Sidorovich, whose underground bunker lies a stone's throw to the west, providing rookies with access to essential supplies, albeit at steep prices. The village itself, with its repurposed buildings and improvised shelters, buzzes with the hopeful and anxious chatter of newcomers. Here, a stalker known as Fanatic imparts wisdom and guidance to the less experienced, helping them navigate the initial trials of the Zone. The Rookie Village stands as a beacon, a place where the uninitiated learn the harsh realities of the Zone before setting out into the greater expanse.

33. #33

    Keys: Skadovsk, Beard's Ship

Skadovsk, Beard's Ship, Location; Description: Beyond the shadow of the now-inactive Brainscorcher, in the marsh-ridden expanse of Zaton, lies the Skadovsk—a colossal, beached transport vessel repurposed into a sanctuary for stalkers . Under the savvy leadership of figures like Beard and Grouse, this hulking ship has been transformed into a bustling hub of activity. Its once-abandoned hull now houses a makeshift community complete with basic amenities: the cramped but secure living quarters, an infirmary, and a tech shop offers repairs and upgrades for gear. The bar buzzes with tales of the day's exploits and the exchange of critical information.

The Skadovsk's enduring engines have been adapted to generate electricity, casting a warm glow against the encroaching darkness of the Zone. The ship's ability to withstand the devastating psychic storms makes it an invaluable bastion for those navigating the treacherous territories to the north.

34. #34

    Keys: Blowout, Emission

Emission, Blowout; Description: An emission, colloquially known as a blowout, is one of the Zone's most terrifying phenomena, a cataclysmic expulsion of raw noosphere energy that radiates from its center. These emissions are a force of nature within the Zone, unpredictable and indiscriminate in their destructive capacity. When an emission occurs, the air crackles with the palpable intensity of psychic energy, warping reality and threatening the minds of all who are caught unprotected. Those unfortunate enough to be exposed directly to its blast without the sanctuary of a shielded area are subjected to overwhelming neural overload, often leaving them as nothing more than zombified shells or, in some cases, pawns to the will of the Monolith.

Some factions have the advanced scientific equipment needed to predict when exactly they will occur. While others might have a supernatural attunement to the Zone and can predict them on their own. Despite their semi-random nature, with at least one devastating occurrence each week, stalkers must remain ever vigilant.
