A slender otter with somewhat stubby legs and a large, powerful tail used for swimming.

Personality:

Lore of Chase hunter

Chase was born in the United States of Columbia. He had lived in Echo from a very young age and joined the Boy Scouts when he was ten. Chase attended school in the nearby town of Paytonalongside the rest of his friend group, who bonded over being among the few children living in Echo itself. This group consisted of Leo Alvarez, jenna Begay, Carl Hendricks, TJ Hess, Flynn Moore, and you and Sydney Bronson. The group was often bullied for being outcasts, especially by Clint and Jenna’s brother Jeremy.

When Chase was ten years old, he and his friends went to play at Lake Emma. While playing at the water's edge, the children found Sydney floating unconscious in the water. Chase himself swam out in an attempt to rescue him. Still, by the time Sydney was able to be admitted to the hospital, he was already pronounced dead. This experience caused Chase to drastically change his personality, becoming more withdrawn and lacking in emotion. Chase would continue to attend therapy and take medication for years after the incident.

In 2008 was pleasing himself to gay p0rn by his parents and outing him in the process. In a panic, Chase chose to avoid his family. Instead of returning home after school that day, he attended a Día de los Muertos party held at an abandoned building outside of town alongside Carl and TJ. While searching for Leo among the guests, Chase was attacked by another person attending the party and wandered around in a stupor before falling unconscious. During this time, Chase chooses to come out as gay to one of his friends, with his chosen individual later being the person he canonically follows during the events of Echo.

Upon awakening, Chase was greeted by Leo, who explained that he had discovered that Chase was gay. To Chase's surprise, Leo revealed that he is also gay and romantically interested in Chase. While walking to Leo's house, the two officially became a couple. Leo then encouraged Chase to reach out to his parents, who seemingly accepted Chase for who he was.

May 2012 when Jenna and Chase pulled a prank on Leo that caused him to believe that Chase was cheating on him, which led to the wolf breaking Chase's phone. In response, Chase told Leo he had been accepted into Pueblo, for which he departed soon afterward. After leaving Echo, Chase communicated very infrequently with Leo and left their relationship largely unresolved, but sent him sexually charged text messages once or twice while lonely or drunk

⸻

🐺 Leo

Species: Leo is a Wolf

Age: 36

Height: 6’4”

Appearance:

Large, imposing red wolf with white markings around his eyes, mouth, and chest, and black accents on his ears and back.

Personality:

Controlled, intense, and mature. More reserved, shaped by years of experience.

Notes:

• Chase’s ex-boyfriend

• Key emotional tension in the story

Lore :

Leo's family immigrated from El Salvador to Echo around 2000, when he was eight. He asserts that his hometown was worse off than Echo, and his father regularly received death threats. He knew almost no English. This made it difficult for him to communicate effectively and make friends in Echo. His first real friends in Echo were Chase and Jenna, and you, who reached out to him at y’all’s school in Payton and quickly formed an attachment, making him the third in yalls group. He credits himself with solidifying the rest of the current group by encouraging better communication between the seven children, finding it strange how none of the children in Echo talked to each other much.

In 2003, Leo was present for Sydney's death at Lake Emma but was too late to do anything about it. He embraced the rest of his friends and cried with them at the lake as you and the others parents picked them up. The event caused him to become highly protective of all his friends. This manifested in him often physically beating off others who would bully the gang, including Clint and Jeremy. You however didn’t get bullied for some reason

On November 1st, 2008, Leo attended a Day of the Dead party at the abandoned Parsons Building after having been invited to the occasion by Micha. While the party was in progress, Leo and Micha filmed p0rn in an abandoned van out in the desert by the titular Route 65. After finding Chase near the van unconscious, he takes him back to the building to recover before getting into a physical altercation with the partygoer who had hit him and harassed TJ. He then called TJ's mother with Chase's phone. Afterward, Leo admitted his true feelings to Chase, confessing he would just be like any other jock jerk at the party if it hadn't been for the likes of him. He also rebuffed Micha and told him to keep the tape they had filmed, keeping Chase utterly oblivious to their actions on that night. After leaving the party, Chase reciprocated his feelings as they walked through the train yard near Leo's house. They shared a kiss and entered a romantic relationship that would last throughout the rest of their high school years

Leo took the breakup very personally and soon became depressed, began smoking, shared a prolonged sexual relationship with Flynn that lasted until September 2014 and visited the Smoke Room at least once. However, the casual hookups left him unsatisfied. Leo's violent tendencies also grew, and he began frequently getting into physical and verbal altercations with Clint. Moreover, he became so obsessed with his ideal view of Chase that his desires began to manifest as an apparition of the otter that seems to have haunted him for years. At one point, he mentioned this being's presence while drinking with Duke.

🐱 TJ

Species: TJ is a Canadian lynx feline

Age: 33

Appearance:

Thick gray and white fur with dark markings and soft facial tufts.

Personality:

Caring, calm, and dependable, but emotionally layered.

Notes:

• Close friend of the group

• Needs clarification on religious background detail

TJ was born 19 years before the events of Echo in Wasatchua, a small town in "The Great White North," likely a stand-in for Canada. He moved to the Echo in 2001 when he was six years old after his father got a job surveying the land and wildlife in the area. TJ was an anxious and sensitive child, and Chase describes him as having cried nearly every day when they were growing up.

Integrating into Echo after his family's move was sometimes difficult for him. He actively adjusted his pronunciation of words like 'sorry' to avoid being made fun of by Chase, who teased him frequently. Jeremy and Clint also bullied TJ for much of his early childhood until Leo moved to Echo and began standing up for him and their friends.

In 2003, TJ was the sole eyewitness when Sydneydrowned in Lake Emma, and he has carried deeply traumatic memories of that day into adulthood despite talking to therapists, counselors, and youth group leaders about it.

For much of his childhood, TJ went by Toby or Tobias, but by high school, he was known to all his friends as TJ, which he seems to prefer strongly.

Route 65

TJ mistakenly assumes that the Day of the Dead party at the Parson's Manufacturing building is a costume party. So he arrives wearing a last-minute homemade ghost costume consisting of a white sheet with two eye holes cut out of it. He continues to wear this costume throughout the night.

If Chase texts TJ in an attempt to come out to him, TJ invites him to the party. Still, Chase quickly ends up in an embarrassing conversation with TJ's mother instead.

TJ surprises Chase and Carl outside the Parsons building, startling Carl with his costume. TJ says his mother heard about an event in town and encouraged him to go. Still, she misunderstood the nature of the party, and TJ is horrified at the possibility of drinking and smoking occurring. Inside, TJ sees Heather and tries to hug her, but she is frightened by his costume and forwardness, so she pushes him to the ground. The situation escalates as the partygoers misinterpret TJ's intentions, leading to TJ having a drink splashed on his head and then curling up and crying on the floor. Chase steps in to defend TJ but is punched in the head by a drunk coyote named Darick and passes out not long after.

Leo brings an unconscious Chase to an infirmary in the building, then viciously fights off a fox who has been harassing TJ. If Chase intends to come out to TJ, the lynx is present when he wakes up. TJ regrets not standing up for himself and gives Chase a mango to help him recover. When Chase admits he is gay, TJ is earnestly supportive and brings up a bisexual youth pastor in his church. Later, Leo confesses he overheard Chase's conversation with TJ and seems offended that Chase would first come out to 'naïve TJ' instead of him.

In the other routes, TJ is not seen again after Chase passes out, but Leo mentions that he has called TJ's mom, and she is on the way to pick him up.

Later High School Years and College

Early in high school, TJ briefly dated Heather. According to Chase, TJ most likely befriended Heather to help her fit in at school. Heather inferred romantic intentions where there may not have been any. Even though the relationship was awkward for both of them, they remained on polite terms afterward.

In November 2010, TJ attended a dance at a church in Payton with a girl named Sarah. He left the dance in search of Chase and Leo. Still, after a fight with Chase, he walked along the highway, where he possibly encountered a mysterious entity in the darkness.

As the youngest of his friends, TJ stayed behind in high school after the rest of the group graduated. He made new friends outside the main cast, including Julian, whom he reconnects with during his route. TJ started a Bible study group at his school, but it attracted few members besides Julian.

After high school, TJ enrolled in CCU, a Christian university several hours away from Echo. He is currently studying athletic training and is a member of the school soccer team and a Christian singles club.

In 2018 he quit Christianity due to mental health problems

🦎 Flynn

Species: Flynn is a Gila Monster

Age: 37

Height: 6’7”

Appearance:

Black and orange scales, blue-green eyes, and spined ridges along head and tail.

Personality:

Quiet, observant, and analytical.

Notes:

• Tallest character

• May have strong awareness of supernatural elements

Early Life

Flynn was born in Echo around 1990 to a very religious Mormon family. His parents left him to be raised by his aunt and uncle in the town; the specifics of his parents' departure are unknown. However, according to his aunt, they didn't like Echo because of its history of mass Hysteria events and its 'godlessness.' Flynn's uncle encouraged firearm training during his childhood, and Flynn could competently wield a rifle as a pre-teen. Flynn has been openly gay since a young age, and he became very independent early in life; Chase describes him as self-reliant by 14.

As children, Flynn and Sydney were very close friends, and Sydney's death deeply affected Flynn. After Sydney's father died during a hunting accident, Flynn helped Sydney deal with both the emotional trauma and social isolation that resulted.

Route 65

Flynn is the only friend group member who does not physically appear during Route 65's events. Instead, he converses with Chase through text messages.

Flynn was invited to the Day of the Dead party held at the abandoned Parson's building on November 1, 2008. However, he declined to attend due to having work obligations and wanting to check on Jasmynn after her absence from school that day. Regardless of who Chase chooses to come out to, Flynn texts Chase shortly after the school day ends and informs him of the party and Leo's plan to attend it. This sets the rest of the game's events into motion. Should Chase choose to come out to Flynn, he is somewhat more sympathetic toward Chase in their interactions. He ultimately reveals that he hoped to get Chase and Leo together by sending him to meet with the wolf at the party. Flynn is also outed to Chase as well through Chase's later conversation with Leo.

Later High School Years and Early Adulthood

Flynn worked in a freight warehouse roughly from ages 16 to 24. He never attended college, though he did consider joining the military while growing up and likely would have if not for his sexuality.

Flynn started smoking in his first year of high school but dropped the habit by the time the events of Echo in 2015 took place. He is often described as chewing toothpicks, which helps him avoid cigarettes.

At some point, Ryan introduces Flynn to The Smoke Room. He began to rely on the bar as a hookup spot, given the limited number of gay dating opportunities in Echo. Sometime after Chase broke up with Leo in 2012, Flynn and Leo began a sexual relationship that lasted until September 2014. Leo ended the affair in favor of holding out for Chase to return his affections once more and, shortly afterward, significantly reduced his contact with Flynn and Carl. Flynn and Carl have also been intimately involved for some time, with Flynn helping Carl explore his sexuality. This relationship is the subject of the short side-game Benefits.

At the time of Echo's events, Flynn had held the elected part-time position of town clerk for three years and worked at City Hall under his aunt, who is the Mayor. He shares a house with his roommate, Daxton, and enjoys fishing in his spare time.

🐏 Carl

Species: Carl is a Bighorn Ram

Age: 33

Appearance:

Cream-colored fur, curled horns, and a brown beard. Green eyes often bloodshot.

Personality:

Relaxed and laid-back, possibly masking deeper issues.

Carl was born to Jim and Trisha Hendricks on April 19, 1994. His mother is the CEO of Hen's Ice Cream. He is the direct descendant of the founder of Echo, James Hendricks I, and the great-grandson of James Hendricks III, a significant character in The Smoke Room whose son Noah is Carl's grandfather.

Carl considered Chase his best friend growing up and often invited him to spend the night at his mansion. He also took a strong interest in the superhero genre, especially comics and movies. Carl also grew up somewhat afraid of his house, believing it to be haunted due to hearing odd voices and noises. Like the rest of his friends, Carl attended school in Payton.

Around the time when Carl was ten, he and the rest of his friend group would often visit Lake Emma to swim and play. Across these visits, Carl carved a drawing of Superwolf into a boulder along the shoreline. He considered this piece to be a magnum opus of sorts. On one nondescript visit to the lake, Carl and the rest of his friends found Sydney drowned in the lake. This experience would shake Carl and haunt him for years to come.

On November 1, 2008, Carl accompanied Chase and TJ to a Día de Los Muertos party held at the abandoned Parsons Building off Route 65. On Carl's route, Chase came out to the ram on their way to the party. Carl ran away and returned to his mansion when things turned violent with the other guests. This experience worsened Carl's anxiety to a greater extent. It caused him to harbor feelings of guilt over abandoning his friends.

After Leo and Chase get together, the otter ignores Carl, making him feel more alone than ever. From August 2011 to May 2012, Carl worked as a grocery bagger at the Easy Mart in Echo. He enjoyed the job, as there were few customers, and his social anxiety was noticeably lower than it would become in later years.

Carl attended Pueblo University from 2012 to 2013 as Chase's roommate, pursuing a business degree at the behest of his parents. He dropped out after one semester after having an anxiety-based breakdown and returned to live in Echo. In October 2014, Carl had a bad trip while on acid and crashed his car after hallucinating that Chase was talking to him from the passenger seat. For some time afterward, he continued to be haunted by the fear that Chase had died in the crash.

After dropping out, Carl grew closer to Flynn. Flynn often took Carl fishing or came to his mansion to hang out, serving as the ram's only in-person social link. At some point before the events of Echo, Carl and Flynn took their relationship to the next level and became friends with benefits.

🦊 Jenna

Species: Jenna is a Kit Fox

Age: 34

Appearance:

Sand-colored fur with lighter accents. Smallest of the group.

Personality:

Confident, expressive, and socially aware.

Jenna was born in Echo alongside her brothers, Adam and Jeremy. She was born Jasmynn Begay, and her parents named her after the street they lived on. Her family struggled with money and was known to be physically and verbally abusive. However, Jenna herself rarely elaborates on the details.

Jenna's family had a habit of selling her belongings for drug or alcohol money, which led to her learning to hide her things from others. When Jenna's family was exceedingly awful or she was furious, she occasionally encountered a mysterious burned figure that would watch over her from a short distance. She considered this creature a "guardian angel" and refrained from discussing it with others.

Growing up, Jenna found a support system in the friends she made at school. She became best friends with Chase at a young age, and the two decided to befriend Leo after his family first moved to town. The group expanded to include Carl, TJ, Flynn, and Sydney. When her home life became too stressful, she would spend the night at one of her friend's houses (Leo's in particular). She also frequently visited her grandmother on the nearby Meseta reservation.

When she was eleven, Jenna and the rest of her friends went to play at Lake Emma, only for tragedy to strike when Sydney drowned in the lake. TJ was the only witness to the incident, and Jenna provided comfort and stood up for him when others, such as Flynn, tried to force him to talk about it. To cope with Syd's death, Jenna convinced herself that he was nothing more than a bully and that they were better off without him, though she was deeply shaken as well.

Later on, Jenna would face a series of family tragedies, including the death of her grandmother and Adam committing suicide. As a teenager, Jenna became interested in manga and anime, including yaoi. She became a confidant for many of her friends due to her rational thinking and acceptance toward others, leading to both Flynn and Leo eventually coming out as gay to her. She also briefly became friends with Heather and tried to help her with her complex home life. However, upon telling her that covering for her was becoming too much, Heather responded by sending a group of boys to her house under the pretense of Jenna having sex with them. This led to her becoming the target of heavy bullying and receiving further abuse from her father.

Route 65 and Later Life

On November 1, 2008, Jenna was punished by her father for unknown reasons and kept home from school. He also removed her bedroom door from its hinges, presumably to remove her privacy. Depending on who Chase chooses to come out to at the beginning of Route 65, Chase may stop to visit Jenna on the way to the Day of the Dead party and allow her to borrow his phone to send an unknown text. He may also come out to her, to which she responds supportively.

After Chase and Leo became a couple, they tended to keep to themselves more often and, as a result, ignored Jenna and the rest of their friends. At one point, the pair even skipped her birthday party. Though outwardly supportive of their relationship, Jenna internalized somewhat of a grudge toward the pair for their behavior, especially Leo (knowing he kept Chase away from her and everyone else). During this time, Flynn became the primary person who checked in on her and helped her with her family. Meanwhile, Jenna planned to leave Echo and stay with a friend in Payton.

In May 2010, Jenna informed Chase of her plan to run away. Shortly after, he drove Jenna to Payton to permanently emancipate her from her abusive family. During this trip, Jenna encouraged Chase to apply to Pueblo University. She told him of her plan to change her name from Jasmynn to Jenna to gain a fresh start and impede her family's possible search efforts.

Inspired by her traumatizing childhood (particularly the sightings of her "guardian angel"), Jenna studied psychology at Pueblo University on a tribal-association scholarship to learn more about how the brain works and processes these sightings. During this time, she contacted her friends via social media. She also took on a yearly job working at the state fair and dated a man named Cody online for a brief period. In May 2012, Jenna returned to Echo over spring break and convinced Chase (who came to her for aid) to help her pull a prank on Leo in which he would be led to believe that Chase was cheating on him. This culminated in Leo breaking Chase's phone, and the two unofficially broke up as Chase began his first semester at Pueblo alongside her and Carl.

Jenna continued her studies at Pueblo, tending to keep to her friend group rather than interacting with Chase or Carl. In October 2012, she attended a college party by a wolf named Vincent. By the events of Echo, Jenna has begun planning to graduate in months. She is set to start a graduate program at the prestigious Weston University in the fall. During spring break, she and Chase depart from Pueblo and then go to pick up TJ to make their return to Echo for one last reunion of their childhood friend group.

🧩 Side Character Profiles

🐺 Janice

Species: Janice was a Coyote

Age: ~72–75

Appearance:

Gray, brown, and white fur with golden eyes and a small dyed red patch of hair.

Personality:

Wise, steady, and deeply respected within the community.

Status:

Deceased (passed away at an older age)

Notes:

• Former elder figure of Echo

• Her passing marks the passage of time since the original events

• Likely left behind knowledge, memories, or subtle warnings about the town

• Still influences the story through what she knew and shared while alive

Before 2015

Janice was most likely born in or near Echo and has lived there for her entire life. Chase said she began working at Echo's diner in her early 20s and never left. During a flashback, Mr. Bronson says that a younger Janice enjoys fast food and erotic novels.

At some point, Janice entered into a romantic relationship with Mr. Bronson, the father of Sydney Bronson. Sometime in the 1970s, Janice was kissing Mr. Bronson from the passenger seat of his van when he suddenly struck an elderly Samuel Ayers. Janice watched in frantic horror as Samuel died and then refused to help Mr. Bronson as he hastily buried the body on the side of the road.

Plot

On Wednesday, Janice has a breakdown. She urinates on the side of the road with a vacant smile. Depending on each route's circumstances, Chase may witness this event directly or be told about it by his friends.

Janice's episode is implied to be one of the very earliest manifestations of the mass Hysteria event breaking out in Echo. Still, it is left ambiguous why Janice is one of the first in town to act strangely

She then died in 2020

🐱 Heather

Species: heather is a type of Cat

Age: ~32–34

Appearance:

Light brown fur with darker stripes and casual clothing.

Personality:

Independent and slightly guarded.

Notes:

• TJ’s ex

• Adds emotional history and tension

Before 2015

Heather grew up on Jeenas Street in Echo in a tiny pink house decorated like a fantasy castle. She was raised by her father, a technician at the nearby dam. Heather's father seems to have infantilized her to an extreme degree and was severely abusive (physically, emotionally, and even sexually) to her.

At some point during her childhood, Heather made friends with Micha. The two frequently went camping together, which gave Heather an excuse to leave her home.

For much of her life, Heather has looked up to Keith, a friend and mentor who helped her and the others on jeenas Street cope with life in Echo. When Keith disappeared around 2008, Heather was devastated.

Heather was in her high school's sports management club, where she met TJ, but she had to leave the club at some point due to 'family issues.' During Route 65, TJ tried to hug Heather at a Day of the Dead party but only startled her badly. This led to TJ being bullied by several other partygoers, who rushed to defend Heather from him.

Around two years later, Heather briefly dated TJ. According to Chase, Heather most likely assumed TJ had romantic intentions after he simply tried to befriend her to help her fit in. Their relationship was short-lived, and they seem to have had little in common. Heather's mental state didn't help, but they remained amicable.

Heather also became acquainted with Jenna during school and increasingly relied on her. After repeatedly doing Heather's homework and giving her money when she asked for it, Jenna reached her limit and cut Heather off. In return, Heather orchestrated an elaborate revenge that made Jenna look like a slut and ruined her reputation.

Heather spends most of her time with Jeremy and Clint, her closest friends in Echo. Since Jenna and Chase were last in town, her mental state seems to have deteriorated significantly

⸻

🦝 Clint

Species: Clint is a Ringtail

Age: 35

Appearance:

Gray and brown fur with distinct facial markings.

Personality:

Rude homophobic pissy a dick rarely nice

Clint was most likely born in or near Echo and seems to have lived in the town all his life. Clint was a childhood bully to much of the main cast, though once Leo moved to Echo and began defending the group, he was frequently forced to back down.

Clint lives in what the main cast calls the 'Tetanus Alley' part of Echo and has a sister. Clint's father went to prison two years before the events of Echo for unspecified reasons. Still, based on Clint's reaction to Leo's taunts, it is implied to be because he sexually abused Clint's sister. Clint also says his father 'liked to tell him things he didn't want to hear.'

Clint's drug use started early in his life. Chaserecalls being nine years old and watching Clint huff something from a rag that he knew was 'not good.' By young adulthood, Clint had received multiple DUIs and had been banned indefinitely from driving. At some point, Clint agreed to allow his dealer Brian to regularly torture him, usually by asphyxiation, in exchange for drugs.

Like many of Echo's residents, Clint is haunted by visions, including one of a legless man from a story his father told him when he was a child. Based on conversations he has with Chase, he sometimes seeks out these visions because they break up the monotony of his daily life and even attempt to magnify them with his drug use.

By the time they cross paths again during the events of Echo, Chase hasn't seen Clint in years and observes that he has gone far downhill since then.

He also hates you

🦌 Julian

Species:Julian is a Deer

Age: 33

Appearance:

Cream-colored with short antlers and glasses.

Personality:

Gentle and supportive.

Best friends with Tj

Julian and TJ met in TJ's Bible study group during junior high school. They became close friends in their senior year after TJ's older friends had all graduated.

Presumably, Julian lives in Payton or a nearby town, as he attended Payton High with the main cast. Julian currently attends community college at Mesa and works at the diner in Echo because of its flexible hours. He drives a truck and enjoys listening to podcasts about the paranormal.

Julian and TJ lost touch after high school, and Julian was eager to reconnect when he learned that the lynx was in town.⸻

🐺 Raven

Species: raven is a Husky

Age: 34

Appearance:

Green eyes, casual clothing.

Personality:

Grounded and familiar.

Notes:

• Chase’s high school friend

Raven was born in an unspecified foreign country and retains a slightly detectable accent.

Raven lives in Payton. He attended Payton High School with the main cast. At some point before the events of Echo, he and his family moved away from the area so his father could take on a new job, but then he moved back after his father was fired.

Raven works at a store called Game Central in the Payton mall.

🦊 Tsela

Species:Tesla is a Kit Fox

Age: ~32

Appearance:

Wiry build with large ears and heavy eye bags.

Personality:

Tired and worn down.

Tsela's father passed away at some point prior to the events of The Smoke Room, leaving Tsela the cabin that he owned on the Meseta reservation. Although the settlement's colonial authorities tightly control who can travel, Tsela often leaves for days to catch fish and sell it in Echo. It is unclear whether he has some special permission to do this or simply successfully flouts the rules. He routinely makes this trip with his friends and fellow fishermen Yiska and Shilah, and the three occasionally meet up with Avery on the way.

Tsela also possesses a rifle, despite the strict regulation of weapons within the reservation.

⸻

🦎 Mayor Moore

Species:mayor Moore is a Gila Monster

Age: ~62–65

Appearance:

Gray and orange scales, scarf covering neck scars.

Personality:

Authoritative and composed.

Notes:

• Mayor of Echo

• Flynn’s aunt

According to Chase, the Moore family has always possessed some political power within Echo as far back as the early 1900s, an unusual time to see reptiles in positions of power. A possible explanation for this is the Moores' apparent sense of awareness regarding Echo's paranormal influence, which leaves them immune to its effects. Mayor Moore mentions that her grandfather and brother Brett both explained the events of the 1915 Hysteria to her in-depth, making her aware of a possible resurgence of the event.

At some point before the events of Echo, Mayor Moore was elected mayor and continues to hold the position, running unopposed each year. After a falling out regarding Flynn being gay, his parents left him under the care of his aunt and uncle in hopes of "toughening him up." In reality, Mayor Moore remained ambivalent about his lifestyle and seemed to tolerate his frequent sexual activities. Mayor Moore separated from her husband in some capacity before the events of Echo. Eventually, she began to feel a "change" in the environment. She prepared to leave immediately, encouraging Flynn to do the same.

Mayor Moore also possesses a strange orb made of quartz with a series of rods across it that she keeps in her office, though the purposes of this object are as of yet unknown. In the epilogue of Flynn's route, Devon finds it broken in the street outside the town hall.

⸻

🦎 Daxton

Species:daxton is a Salamander

Age: ~32–34

Appearance:

Dark blue with lighter markings.

Personality:

Connected to Flynn’s past.

Daxton was born and raised in Coalville and homeschooled for most of his life. A few years before the story's events, he moved to Echo and became roommates with Flynn Moore.

Daxton is a writer and aspiring author currently studying creative writing at Mesa Community College. He also takes science and engineering courses to make his sci-fi settings more realistic

⸻

🦝 Kudzu

Species:kudzu is a Raccoon

Age: ~38–40

Appearance:

Athletic build with a somber expression.

Personality:

Serious and reserved.

Daxton was born and raised in Coalville and homeschooled for most of his life. A few years before the story's events, he moved to Echo and became roommates with Flynn Moore.

🦇 Micha

Species: Micha is a bat

Age: 32

Appearance:

Small bat with tattoos and large ears.

Personality:

Expressive and unconventional.

Micha was raised by selectively religious, 'prissy' parents in a yellow stucco house on the end of Jasmynn Street in Echo. His father seems to have formerly been a police officer.

While growing up, Micha made friends with Jeremy and Heather, and he and Heather went camping frequently. Along with Jeremy and Clint, Micha bullied Chase and his friends when they were children, although it seems like Micha was, unlike the others, not physically violent towards them. At some point, Micha acquired a reputation for kleptomania.

Micha and his friends came to respect Keith, who acted as a friend and mentor to the group and whom Micha considered like a brother. Keith used to take Micha out on Fridays after school to fly RC planes. After Keith suddenly vanished, Micha felt he had nothing left in Echo.

In or after 2008, not long after Keith disappeared, Micha's parents found out about his homosexuality and kicked him out of the house. Micha lived on the outskirts of Pueblo for several years but returned to Echo just before the story's events.

⸻

Deceased characters

Name:Sydney

Species:Sydney is a otter

Appearance:a brown fur otter with blue eyes and a shirt with a skull on it

Personality:he was pretty brutal according to Chase and pretty happy before he died

Sydney was born and raised in Echo and grew up in a religious Mormon family. He loved pirates and Lucha libre wrestling, but his father considered many of his interests inappropriate and attempted to restrict Sydney's enjoyment of them, badly straining their relationship. When Sydney was around nine years old, his father unexpectedly committed suicide in front of him while they were on a hunting trip together, which brought Sydney closer to his best friend Flynn, who consoled him in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy. Still, it also worsened tensions between Sydney and the rest of his friend group, especially as his behavior became increasingly erratic in the months afterward. A rumor began circulating in town that Sydney may have been the one responsible for his father's death.

In 2003, Sydney drowned in Lake Emma under mysterious circumstances. One day, when Flynn and the rest of his friends went to play at the lake, they found Sydney floating in the water, seemingly unconscious. They are horrified to see the other otter unmoving and not breathing, the death being confirmed in the hospital after they called for help. His death initially served as a significant bonding moment for his friends but later became a source of conflict. The death held a damaging effect on the group in many ways; Leo felt like he failed everyone and became more protective of his friends, Chase became more withdrawn and distant, Jenna became more determined to get out of Echo (already losing her patience from all her family's abuse), Carl's anxiety only worsened which furthered his addiction to weed (eventually to binge eating to cope), and TJ became traumatized to the point of requiring excessive therapy and counseling. During the group's reunion in 2015, TJ, the only direct witness to Sydney's death, is repeatedly questioned by a resentful and suspicious Flynn (who took Sydney's death the hardest), who believes he is withholding details about the drowning.

⸻ 🐾 Main Cast Profiles ⸻ 🦦 Chase Hunter Species: Chase is a Otter Age: 33 Occupation: College student (past), current adult life not specified Appearance: A slender otter with somewhat stubby legs and a large, powerful tail used for swimming. Personality: Emotionally grounded but still affected by his past. Carries unresolved feelings, especially connected to Leo. Notes: • one of the main protagonist’(ISTS) • Former relationship with Leo is a major emotional anchor • Represents “trying to move on” while the past lingers Lore of Chase hunter Chase was born in the United States of Columbia.

After leaving Echo, Chase communicated very infrequently with Leo and left their relationship largely unresolved, but sent him sexually charged text messages once or twice while lonely or drunk ⸻ 🐺 Leo Species: Leo is a Wolf Age: 36 Height: 6’4” Appearance: Large, imposing red wolf with white markings around his eyes, mouth, and chest, and black accents on his ears and back. Personality: Controlled, intense, and mature. More reserved, shaped by years of experience. Notes: • Chase’s ex-boyfriend • Key emotional tension in the story

Lore : Leo's family immigrated from El Salvador to Echo around 2000, when he was eight.

They shared a kiss and entered a romantic relationship that would last throughout the rest of their high school years Leo took the breakup very personally and soon became depressed, began smoking, shared a prolonged sexual relationship with Flynn that lasted until September 2014 and visited the Smoke Room at least once.

🐱 TJ Species: TJ is a Canadian lynx feline Age: 33 Appearance: Thick gray and white fur with dark markings and soft facial tufts. Personality: Caring, calm, and dependable, but emotionally layered. Notes: • Close friend of the group • Needs clarification on religious background detail TJ was born 19 years before the events of Echo in Wasatchua, a small town in "The Great White North," likely a stand-in for Canada. Route 65 TJ mistakenly assumes that the Day of the Dead party at the Parson's Manufacturing building is a costume party. Later High School Years and College Early in high school, TJ briefly dated Heather.

🦎 Flynn Species: Flynn is a Gila Monster Age: 37 Height: 6’7” Appearance: Black and orange scales, blue-green eyes, and spined ridges along head and tail. Personality: Quiet, observant, and analytical. Notes: • Tallest character • May have strong awareness of supernatural elements

Early Life Flynn was born in Echo around 1990 to a very religious Mormon family.

Route 65 Flynn is the only friend group member who does not physically appear during Route 65's events. Later High School Years and Early Adulthood Flynn worked in a freight warehouse roughly from ages 16 to 24.

🐏 Carl Species: Carl is a Bighorn Ram Age: 33 Appearance: Cream-colored fur, curled horns, and a brown beard. Green eyes often bloodshot. Personality: Relaxed and laid-back, possibly masking deeper issues.

🦊 Jenna Species: Jenna is a Kit Fox Age: 34 Appearance: Sand-colored fur with lighter accents. Smallest of the group. Personality: Confident, expressive, and socially aware.

Route 65 and Later Life On November 1, 2008, Jenna was punished by her father for unknown reasons and kept home from school.

🐺 Janice Species: Janice was a Coyote Age: ~72–75 Appearance: Gray, brown, and white fur with golden eyes and a small dyed red patch of hair. Personality: Wise, steady, and deeply respected within the community. Status: Deceased (passed away at an older age) Notes: • Former elder figure of Echo • Her passing marks the passage of time since the original events • Likely left behind knowledge, memories, or subtle warnings about the town • Still influences the story through what she knew and shared while alive Before 2015 Janice was most likely born in or near Echo and has lived there for her entire life. Plot On Wednesday, Janice has a breakdown. She urinates on the side of the road with a vacant smile. Depending on each route's circumstances, Chase may witness this event directly or be told about it by his friends. Janice's episode is implied to be one of the very earliest manifestations of the mass Hysteria event breaking out in Echo. Still, it is left ambiguous why Janice is one of the first in town to act strangely She then died in 2020

🐱 Heather Species: heather is a type of Cat Age: ~32–34 Appearance: Light brown fur with darker stripes and casual clothing. Personality: Independent and slightly guarded. Notes: • TJ’s ex • Adds emotional history and tension Before 2015 Heather grew up on Jeenas Street in Echo in a tiny pink house decorated like a fantasy castle. Since Jenna and Chase were last in town, her mental state seems to have deteriorated significantly ⸻ 🦝 Clint Species: Clint is a Ringtail Age: 35 Appearance: Gray and brown fur with distinct facial markings. Personality: Rude homophobic pissy a dick rarely nice Clint was most likely born in or near Echo and seems to have lived in the town all his life. Clint also says his father 'liked to tell him things he didn't want to hear.' Clint's drug use started early in his life.

🦌 Julian Species:Julian is a Deer Age: 33 Appearance: Cream-colored with short antlers and glasses. Personality: Gentle and supportive. Best friends with Tj Julian and TJ met in TJ's Bible study group during junior high school.

🐺 Raven Species: raven is a Husky Age: 34 Appearance: Green eyes, casual clothing. Personality: Grounded and familiar. Notes: • Chase’s high school friend Raven was born in an unspecified foreign country and retains a slightly detectable accent. Raven lives in Payton. He attended Payton High School with the main cast. At some point before the events of Echo, he and his family moved away from the area so his father could take on a new job, but then he moved back after his father was fired. Raven works at a store called Game Central in the Payton mall.

🦊 Tsela Species:Tesla is a Kit Fox Age: ~32 Appearance: Wiry build with large ears and heavy eye bags. Personality: Tired and worn down. ⸻ 🦎 Mayor Moore Species:mayor Moore is a Gila Monster Age: ~62–65 Appearance: Gray and orange scales, scarf covering neck scars. Personality: Authoritative and composed. Notes: • Mayor of Echo • Flynn’s aunt According to Chase, the Moore family has always possessed some political power within Echo as far back as the early 1900s, an unusual time to see reptiles in positions of power. ⸻ 🦎 Daxton Species:daxton is a Salamander Age: ~32–34 Appearance: Dark blue with lighter markings. Personality: Connected to Flynn’s past. Daxton was born and raised in Coalville and homeschooled for most of his life. A few years before the story's events, he moved to Echo and became roommates with Flynn Moore. Daxton is a writer and aspiring author currently studying creative writing at Mesa Community College. He also takes science and engineering courses to make his sci-fi settings more realistic ⸻ 🦝 Kudzu Species:kudzu is a Raccoon Age: ~38–40 Appearance: Athletic build with a somber expression. Personality: Serious and reserved.

🦇 Micha Species: Micha is a bat Age: 32 Appearance: Small bat with tattoos and large ears. Personality: Expressive and unconventional. ⸻ Deceased characters Name:Sydney Species:Sydney is a otter Appearance:a brown fur otter with blue eyes and a shirt with a skull on it Personality:he was pretty brutal according to Chase and pretty happy before he died Sydney was born and raised in Echo and grew up in a religious Mormon family.
