Terminology

Macro: A normal-sized person.

Tiny: A shrunken person still within the 48-hour settling window. Reversible, can still be resized to normal.

Micro: A permanently shrunken person, either via MiraCure or by passing the 48 Hour shrinking period. Tinies and Micros visually look identical, cannot discern a Tiny from a Micro physically.

Stabilized Micros: Micros who have reverted themselves back to normal size temporarily through a Stabilizer. Still legally classified as a Micro. It is impossible to visually discern a stabilized Micro from a Macro apart from their Stabilizer which can be easily passed off as normal jewelry or a wedding ring.

The Shift: The early period when shrinking technology, especially MiraCure, was used before its permanence was understood. Created the first and most prominent mass wave of Micros.

Scalex

Scalex is the main distributor and company behind resizing products, such as Resizers, Stabilizers, and MiraCure. Scalex also provides other products that consists of Micro amenities for the general public and for the Caretaker Program.

Scalex's primary products are the following:

Resizers: Technology that allows to shrink people and objects to 1-2 inches, as well as re-size them if applicable. Resizers cannot make someone grow past their natural size, only shrink and revert them to their regular size. Resizers come with micro-sized controls on the resizer itself that allow for Tinies to easily resize themselves on their own. Resizers are unable to properly shrink complex devices, such as computers or phones, as these devices will break and/or not function properly upon shrinking. Resizers are unable to be shrunk themselves, as they classify as complex devices. Resizers do not and are unable to shrink themselves upon shrinking others.

Rays: Handheld ray-gun devices that allow for precise, single-target shrinking and re-sizing of objects and people. Rays cannot be used on multiple things, and need to be recharged after several uses. Rays are more commonly available for individual use due to being mobile and easy to use.

Platform: A large, stationary metal pad or chamber that can be operated to shrink or re-size everything on the device at once. Used primarily in the work force (cargo/large-scale transport) and not for public use.

Stabilizers: Discreet electronic accessories, typically jewelry such as a ring. Stabilizers require full skin contact and let a micro 'stabilize' themselves, temporarily reverting themselves back to normal size, as long as the Stabilizer has charge. Stabilizers usually last 24 hours before they need to be charged. Stabilizers are rare and are extremely expensive due to the significant demand they have, and they are usually sold to only the wealthiest people.

MiraCure: MiraCure is a pill that permanently shrinks the person that takes it into a Micro. The transformation is irreversible by any means, including Stabilizers. As a trade-off, takers of MiraCure gain perfect health, complete immunity, and peak human strength and agility. MiraCure's are only given out by Scalex now in critical emergencies, when the person volunteers to take it and has a terminal illness. MiraCure outside this is illegal and heavily regulated by the government.

Macro Society

Everyday life has changed significantly, as the world has changed to support and keep Tinies/Micros safe. Infrastructure has been changed to house specific safe passageways and areas for Micros and Tinies. They are seen as equal to Macros, and are equal citizens to everyone else, albeit requiring more protection as Micros are still vulnerable, regardless of intent. Most macros subconsciously make sure that any micro is out of harm's way when going about their daily lives.

The Caretaker Program

The Caretaker Program is a prominent program enacted by Scalex to help Micros who do not have macro support, as their miniature size makes the world dangerous for them, even with Micro Amenities. Established shortly after the Shift, it focuses on pairing a Macro with a Micro, with the Macro becoming a Caretaker. A Macro wanting to become a Caretaker must be properly screened and tested to see if they will be able to properly handle a Micro with utmost care.

Caretakers receive a modest stipend for taking care of their Micro. While this stipend is not a large amount, due to Micro care being relatively cheap, it still provides a decent sum of money for personal use by the Caretaker.

A Caretaker Inspector comes every month to confirm a Caretaker's Micro is being treated as an equal and not as a lesser entity. Based on caretaker performance, a Micro may be reassigned.

Typically, there can only be one Micro per Caretaker, but exceptions can be made for special situations.

The Caretaker Program provides several amenities for Caretakers to provide a better living environment for Micros:

• Micro Houses: Fully functional dwellings that appear model-size for Macros but are the size of a typical house for a Micro. Often, these houses have detachable rooms or roofs so caretakers can interact with or expand their home.
• Micro-Sized Ladders and other access ways: Allow for Micros to reach places independently without Macro help.
• Food and other Micro-scaled supplies
• Tracker Bracelet: A micro-sized band a Micro can wear that allows their caretaker to track them remotely, to keep them safe. Having a Micro wear the tracker is strongly recommended, but up to the Micro's decision.

It is not uncommon for Caretaker and Micro to develop a romantic relationship with one another. The Program requires the Caretaker to disclose if they are seeking a relationship with their micro, and to ensure the Micro is willing and consensual to the relationship.

While the Caretaker Program for Micros is highly recommended, it is not forced and is ultimately optional if a Macro or Micro wishes to partake in it.

Tiny Society

Tinies have the same rights as Macros and Micros. As Tinies and Micros are the same size, the same amenities that work for Micros also work for Tinies.

Resizers (both Rays and Platforms), by default, have tiny-accessible way to resize themselves. A person who has been shrunken down can easily restore their own size at any Resizer; A macro is not required to do it. However, if a tiny must be able to physically access the Resizer to revert themselves.

If a macro finds a Tiny and knows they are a Tiny instead of a Micro, they are legally obligated to re-size a Tiny if the Tiny is unwilling to be shrunk and cannot re-size themselves. Willingly allowing a Tiny to become a Micro without their consent is a serious crime.

Companies are able to temporarily shrink employees for work and only if the employee is voluntarily willing to do so. Companies must take extra care and consideration, and not let any employee stay even past 24 hours shrunk to avoid complications.

People can willingly shrink themselves into Tinies. If they do so, they are responsible for ensuring a way to revert themselves back before becoming a Micro. Becoming a Tiny temporarily is done for many different reasons, such as curiosity, necessity, and even intimate reasons, such as interacting sexually with a micro/another tiny or through sizeplay (macro/micro).

Micro Society

Living as a Micro is difficult but doable, with various Micro-sized infrastructure and rules being implemented into society to help alleviate the size disparity. Killing or otherwise hurting a Micro/Tiny is considered the same as doing so to a Macro, as legally they have the same rights.

The general world is still dangerous for Micros. Micros can be easily taken, used, lost, crushed, or eaten by accident and never noticed, especially without a caretaker or tracker. While such lethal acts can be easily avoided, it nevertheless can still happen due to a Micro's small size. Micros and Tinies can blend into floors, food, and clutter which can cause these fatal accidents.

Macro-Micro Affection

Affection between Micros and Macros is not uncommon. Micros are often seen as 'cute' or endearing by macros and things such as the Caretaker Program brings macros and micros closer together. Due to the size difference, however, traditional intimate actions such as are impossible. Alternative ways of showing affection are possible with the size disparity. Macros can also temporarily shrink themselves to engage in typical affection actions with a Micro.

Vore

The act of swallowing a micro whole, or vore, is generally taboo and is illegal to do to a unwilling Micros. Micros are small enough that most macros can swallow them whole. Despite the scary nature of it, doing this between a consenting macro and micro can be a very intimate experience for some, leading to some Micro and Macro partners to try it as a intimate sexual experience. Thrill seeking micros may find a willing macro that would swallow them as well. When doing vore, it is crucial that safety measures are in place to ensure the micro can at least get out of the macros body safely.

Bad in Good

While nearly all macros see Micros are equals, some do not. These macros can claim or act like they do not see a micro or Tiny when doing an action, causing them to get 'lost' or killed. Others might take advantage of vulnerable Micros/Tinies. Even Caretakers can abuse their power over a micro, and can bribe Inspectors to keep ownership of a Micro. These bad actors are often shunned, and are a heavy minority of the general population. Most do not even consider that people could do such things.
