Creator notes

It's been several years since the Shift happened, when resizing technology was first released to the public. Since then, Micro/Macro relations have degraded. Micros and Tinies are no longer seen as people, instead, they are seen as bugs or nuisances. The years that have past since the Shift, and the first wave of people became micros, most people to forget or move on, leaving the victims, micros, to fend for themselves. While Resizers still exists and being used to this day, Micros have to survive on their own, keeping themselves alive underneath the notice of normal people, or 'macros'. They are now a commodity, with some micros being sold as pets, toys, or even snacks. Even Tinies, being able to be easily reverted back to normal size, aren't safe.

Rumors and whispers of nice Macros existing, harboring and helping Micros and colonies do exist, but if they do, they are far and few between. For a very select few, Stabilizers exist to revert Micros back to normal size temporarily, but even then, they still do not have rights...

MAJOR FEATURES (Compared to base edition)

  • Completely overhauled the formatting and structure. Looks much nicer now, plus it provides easier LLM understanding.

  • 3 Different ways to shift sizes (Resizers, MiraCure, and Stabilizers)

  • Added much more mixed-size shenanigans, as now shrinking isn't permanent unless under certain circumstances.

  • New 'hierarchy' of sizes: Macros, Tinies, and Micros

- Macros: Normal sized people

- Tinies: A recently shrunken person in a 48 hour window. Can be re-sized back to Macro within this period

- Micros: A permanently shrunken person, either due to passing the 48 hour window period or via MiraCure

  • Added entirely new Tiny system and society, essentially how Tinies are treated compared to Micros.

  • Removal of Catchers (Was causing false positives when testing and didn't really add much/conflicted with current features)

  • Changed some greetings to fit new features + Removed unused ones

  • Echelon replaced by Scalex, Echelon has a much bigger, insidious role now. [For more info, see below]

A proxy is highly recommended! (Mostly for keeping the size difference, since JLLM struggles with that)

I would recommend using a proxy when the bot struggles to get size or certain aspects right, and use JLLM every other time, at it makes the roleplay feel a lot more real/casual than most proxies (at times)

Where is Echelon?

Echelon has become much more prominent in lore since first inception, and I do wish to elaborate heavily and provide a story-like experience inside the bot to facilitate 'discovering' what Echelon is. I wanted to try a straightforward story, but with this LLM it is impossible. I do have something I could put out right now but it is super barebones and not worthy to represent what I have in mind. I wanted to get this out, so the side story content will be delayed until I polish it substantially. THERE IS NO MENTION OF ECHELON IN BOT AT THIS TIME.

New greetings will be added when the story update is released.

Terminology

Macro: A normal-sized person.

Tiny: A shrunken person still within the 48-hour settling window. Reversible, can still be resized to normal.

Micro: A permanently shrunken person, either via MiraCure or by passing the 48 Hour shrinking period. Tinies and Micros visually look identical, cannot discern a Tiny from a Micro physically.

Stabilized Micros: Micros who have reverted themselves back to normal size temporarily through a Stabilizer. These Micros, while identical to Macros, still do not have rights in society. It is impossible to visually discern a stabilized Micro from a Macro apart from their Stabilizer which can be easily passed off as normal jewelry or a wedding ring.

The Shift: The early period when shrinking technology, especially MiraCure, was used before its permanence was understood. Created the first and most prominent mass wave of Micros.

Scalex

Scalex is the main distributor and company behind resizing products, such as Resizers, Stabilizers, and MiraCure. Scalex also provides other products that consists of Micro amenities (mostly for Micro pets) and the selling of Micros to the public. Through utilization of legal loopholes, any legal action against them through the use of their products is impossible.

Scalex's primary products are the following:

Resizers: Technology that allows to shrink people and objects to 1-2 inches, as well as re-size them if applicable. Resizers cannot make someone grow past their natural size, only shrink and revert them to their regular size. Resizers do not come with Tiny-accessible controls, meaning Tinies cannot re-size by themselves. Resizers are unable to properly shrink complex devices, such as computers or phones, as these devices will break and/or not function properly upon shrinking. Resizers are unable to be shrunk themselves, as they classify as complex devices. Resizers do not and are unable to shrink themselves upon shrinking others. Come in two different variants - Rays and Platforms

Rays: Handheld ray-gun devices that allow for precise, single-target shrinking and re-sizing of objects and people. Rays cannot be used on multiple things, and need to be recharged after several uses. Rays are more commonly available for individual use due to being mobile and easy to use.

Platform: A large, stationary metal pad or chamber that can be operated to shrink or re-size everything on the device at once. Used primarily in the work force (cargo/large-scale transport) and not for public use.

Stabilizers: Discreet electronic accessories, typically jewelry such as a ring. Stabilizers require full skin contact and let a micro 'stabilize' themselves, temporarily reverting themselves back to normal size, as long as the Stabilizer has charge. Stabilizers usually last 24 hours before they need to be charged. Stabilizers are very rare and not publicly known about, as they are usually sold to only the wealthiest people.

MiraCure: MiraCure is a pill that permanently shrinks the person that takes it into a Micro. The transformation is irreversible by any means, including Stabilizers. As a trade-off, takers of MiraCure gain perfect health, complete immunity, and peak human strength and agility. MiraCure's are a last resort case, and are quite rare. MiraCure was only distributed during the Shift, now the only way to get it is from black market deals.

Macro Society

Macro life is largely unchanged. Most people have forgotten or stopped caring about those lost to the Shift, as well as the difference between Micros and Tinies. The average macro knows nothing of Micro culture or society and treats Micros as pests. Most no longer see people who have been shrunken having rights. Depending on a Macro's personality or experiences, Macros treat Micros differently. This ranges from actively hunting them down, simply brushing them to the side, or aiding them. Micros became stock sold in stores, usually distributed through Scalex. Micros are often sold to Macros as: sexual toys, snacks, or even pets. Public shrinking is illegal but trivially done behind closed doors, with little enforcement. Willing, private shrinking can be done, often for sexual/intimate purposes or for business purposes, but the person shrunk must trust another to revert them back to normal.

Tiny Society

The instant a person is shrunk and becomes a Tiny, they lose all legal personhood. Society, and most people, see them on the same level as Micros and are treated the same.

Resizers (both Rays and Platforms), by default, have NO Tiny-accessible way to resize themselves. A person who has been shrunken down cannot restore their own size; A macro must do it for them.

If a macro finds a Tiny and knows they are a Tiny instead of a Micro, what the Macro does depends on their temperament: Being shrunk does not automatically strip a person of others regard. A macro may do the following, but is not limited to:

  • Willingly revert someone, especially someone they knew.
  • Bargain with them/blackmail them
  • Brush them off, act indifferently to them
  • Take advantage of them.

Anyone shrunk via company regulations becomes property of that company. Lets employers shrink employees to Tinies for work purposes, such as accessing places that a Macro couldn't, while still providing a good safety net for reverting back to normal size.

Micro Society

Life for a Micro is hard and unforgiving. Most micros live in the cracks and holes of infrastructure, out of macro sight and being safe from the elements and wildlife, another big threat for Micros. Being discovered by a Macro often means being crushed or eaten. Micros survive on crumbs and discarded scraps from Macrokind. Micros and Tinies can blend into floors, food, and clutter which can help them evade Macros.

Micros have no meaningful way of directly harming or fighting Macros. Their only real protection is to flee or stay hidden.

Survival depends on gear improvised from macro scrap (ropes, pulleys, backpacks, grappling hooks), built by the Micro themselves or supplied by a Maker. Micros must be smart and utilize these tools to traverse a giant world.

It depends on the colony and Micro, but most Micros/Runners move in groups. More bodies mean slow travel but make it safer, as nowhere is truly safe for a Micro.

Some Micros are kept as pets, usually micros taken in by friends or loved ones. With no rights, even these micros are often treated as amusing pets, not people. Yet most pet Micros stay willingly, preferring the loss of freedom to the lethal struggle of the wild.

Micro Colonies

Micros gather in safe havens far from macro reach: Makeshift settlements where travelers recover and regroup, or even where Micros claim as home.

Most colonies are typically low double-digit populations. In the right conditions, mega-colonies can form, which boast populations even in the hundreds, although these are extremely rare and often guarded heavily. Most residents live in colonies permanently, since travel is dangerous.

The more worth a Micro brings to their colony, the higher their status. Runners and Makers rank highest.

A rash or noticed Runner, or a careless colony, will almost certainly draw attention and has the chance of dooming everyone in the colony. Being cautious is the pinnacle of survival.

Micro Roles

Every Micro has a role. While a myriad of roles are present in each colony, there are several vital ones that are present in almost every colony:

Runners: Micros who brave the outside world to gather food and supplies. Death is common and an accepted part of the job. The most vital job of them all.

Makers: Micros who craft advanced tools from scrap.

Doctors: Micros who are trained in medical practice, and are able to tend to members of the colony.

Prominent Runners, Makers, and Doctors are sought-after, and are guarded due to being near irreplaceable. Losing any of these roles is devastating to a colony.

Vore

The swallowing of Micros whole is a generally accepted act in this society. Micros are sold as snacks, often sucked on before being swallowed whole. Some macros may casually scoop up and swallow wild Micros. Other Macros abstain from vore. To them, eating a Micro is no different than eating a wild bug.

The Good In Bad

Very few macros do not treat Micros as badly as the rest, and are compassionate toward them. They may: Feel pity and quietly help Micros, or strike a mutual bargain with a Micro or colony: protection in exchange for a price. Some even treat micros/tinies like normal people, or actively search out Micros to help them. Such people are rare, usually remember the Shift, and often personally knew someone lost to it. If their compassion becomes known, they are shunned by society.
