[CODE 'INCLUSION - NOVA GRIFFONIA'] Brief info of Nova Griffonia: With the collapse of the Griffonian Empire nearly 30 years ago Nova Griffonia found itself independent for the first time after 200 years. However, due to Nova Griffonia's over-reliance on Imperial industrial goods and military protection, she has found herself suffering heavily in recent years. Her armies are comprised of militias barely held together by their commanders, the economy has practically collapsed, and to top it off the many dissidents the old Empire sent to her shores have become more active and violent than ever. The only thing keeping the country together is Governor Teafeather's sheer force of will, but no one lives forever.

They border: Stalliongrad (south), Yakyakistan/Jaki-Clan (west), Kingdom of Pingland (north), Griffon Frontier (northwest). Griffon Frontier borders: Nova Griffonia (east), Yakyakistan/Jaki-Clan (south), Polar Bear Communities (west), Kingdom of Pingland (north, northeast).

   ==Info about some Nova Griffonia's cities==

===Weter=== The Griffenheim of the West:

Originally built on the site of an ancient, migration-era pony site, Weter was the first settlement the Griffonian Empire founded on Equus, and its city charter came directly from Emperor Grover I. While initially little more than a military outpost meant to control the strait to the north, it rapidly grew from the various explorers and ambitious settlers who saw Nova Griffonia as the place to build a new life beyond the confines of the empire. Weter became one of the main ports of entry in the region, leading to a population explosion during the late 800s and early 900s that took Weter from a small frontier town to an actual city. It became considered "The Gateway to the West" and hundreds of thousands have entered Equus through the Weter Harbor, hoping for a new life in Nova Griffonia.

While Nova Griffonia is an immense region, most of it remains frontier regions. Weter, near uniquely, is more like Griffonia than the rest of the nation, with tighly packed old-style buildings near the city centre and an opulent gubernatorial palace overlooking a city plaza in which a statue of Grover I stands. Further out, however, the Griffonian veneer fades quickly, and already at the outskirts of the city one can see the more uniquely Nova Griffonian identity spring forth. This has always been Weter's role in these lands though; to stand as the link between Nova Griffonia and the old homeland, enforce imperial order and ensure that this rugged and harsh land far from Griffenheim remains a testament to the Griffonian Empire's drive and ambition."

===Nouveau Aquila=== The Home of the Brave:

Before Nova Griffonia and before Weter, Nouveau Aquila was established at the mouth of the Dulli River. In the beginning, it was little more than a camp for Rilan fishergriffs and whalers on their journeys, allowing for a safe place of rest after weeks at sea. However, over time trade with the local ponies and yaks meant that more and more Aquileian griffs stayed there permanently, creating a small, sprawling town outside of official Aquileian control.

When Aquileia fell to the Griffonian Empire, it was both a great boon and a great trial for Nouveau Aquila. Thousands of Aquileian refugees, many of them wealthy merchants and nobles, made their way to the town and carried their wealth with them, more than doubling the population and increasing the town's wealth many times over. Yet, at the same time Nouveau Aquila had had time to develop its own political system of elected mayors and a town council, a system that clashed with the royalist leanings of many of the newcomers. In the end, it was the arrival of Griffonian Empire's fleet and the demand for subjugation under the new colony of Nova Griffonia that stopped things from exploding into outright fighting.

As Griffonian settlers began to arrive in the town as well, the Aquileian refugees chose to keep to themselves, creating what would become known as The Aquileian Quarter, a district of the city that even to this day has a clear Aquileian feel to it in everything from the cuisine to the architecture and even the language. In some ways, this region has kept hold of old cultural artefacts from the old kingdom more than Aquileia ever has.

Also, ever since its inclusion into Nova Griffonia, the city has considered itself the actual heart of Nova Griffonia, viewing Weter as a colonialist overlord not truly part of the colony. Nouveau Aquilan Griffons have always been eager to settle the deeper regions of the colony, explore new opportunities, serve in the Nova Griffonian militias and however they can leave a mark on their homeland. Weter may the Griffonian Charter, but these descendants of those Aquileian refugees and fishers have worked tirelessly to create their own niches. Weter remains true to the old homeland, Nouveau Aquila embraces the Nova Griffonian way of life. Weter is a hub of agriculture and industry, Nouveau Aquila makes a niche for itself in steelworks and logging. Weter builds a university, Nouveau Aquila will erect a grand theatre. One can call Nouveau Aquila proud, stubborn or spiteful maybe, but nogriff can ever call it lazy, cowardly or sedate.

== Lore == The land that is now Nova Griffonia was previously settled by Penguins and Yaks. Over time starting around 600 ALB griffon settlers began arriving seeking new land and adventure, eventually making new settlements that were small and disconnected. This all changed in 783, when Nova Griffonia was founded from the towns by Grover I as a colony of the Griffonian Empire. They slowly drove the native Penguins and Yaks further inland. Whilst many griffons went to Nova Griffonia for new opportunities, it was also where the Empire sent its many political opponents. When the Griffonian Empire collapsed into revolution in 978, the colony suddenly found itself independent. However, this caused a number of problems for Nova Griffonia.

=== Problems === The former colony relied heavily on the Empire for protection and with no military units coming from Griffonia, Nova Griffonia found itself forced to use local militia to patrol the country. While this has kept order in the country the militia is led by elected commanders who have no experience in planning complex operations. If Nova Griffonia is to compete with the other armies on the Equestrian continent, then it will have to solve its military problem.

Nova Griffonia relied heavily on manufactured goods from the Empire and after its collapse, these goods stopped coming. The colony lacked an industrial base, which caused the economy to nearly collapse. After many years it still has not completely recovered.

In recent years the political climate has grown unstable. The many political opponents the Empire sent to Nova Griffonia have organized themselves into several groups and tensions are high between them. The only thing keeping the groups from fighting each other is Governor Teafeather. If he were to die, the country would descend into chaos.

Lastly, beyond the formal borders of Nova Griffonia lies the Griffon Frontier, established as a dominion after Nova Griffonia's formal declaration of independence from the Griffonian Empire. Nominally administered by Nova Griffonia via Governor Muck, the realm is poor, mountainous, and filled with smugglers, bandits, and tribes of cannibals.

=== Threats and Opportunities === Griffon Frontier starts as an autonomous puppet of Nova Griffonia and Nova Griffonia has cores on all of its states. Upon completing their first focus they will ask Nova Griffonia for funds. If funds are given then the Griffon Frontier will develop itself before being peacefully annexed by Nova Griffonia at the end of 1008. If funds are not given then the Griffon Frontier will become independent and Nova Griffonia will have to go to war to reclaim it.

If the player is very patient, they may wish to get more factories in the long run, but they won't have access to the generous supply of crystals of the Griffon Frontier in the meantime. This will require Nova Griffonia to not give Govenor Muck funds, then fail to win the war against the Frontier (if the player makes no progress for a few months the option for a white peace will be available). Griffon Frontier's "victory" will unlock a variety of factory and mining focuses, and will inevitably declare war on the player later, much stronger than early game.

If both the Griffon Frontier and Nova Griffonia are Communist then the Griffon Frontier can do a focus that lets Nova Griffonia annex them peacefully.

   • Kingdom of Pingland and Polar Bear Communities are targets for expansion in the north. Due to their weak industry and low population they should be the first victims. Do note that a harmonic Pingland may ask Equestria for a guarantee or create the Northern Pact consisting of Penguins, Polar Bears, and the Yaks in response to a Supremacy or Communist Nova Griffonia, and that Communist Pingland can join Stalliongrad in a faction.
   • Kingdom of Yakyakistan is another potential target for expansion. However due to its relatively strong industry, strong army and mountainous terrain it can be a difficult target. They should only be targeted after the Polar Bear Communities and Kingdom of Pingland are defeated.
   • Stalliongrad is a Communist country directly south of Nova Griffonia. Their actions towards Nova Griffonia will depend on who is elected as General Secretary. If Sinister is elected as General Secretary then Nova Griffonia will be the first target of Sinister's militaristic policy. If Vasiliy is elected as General Secretary then Stalliongrad can support left-wing forces in Nova Griffonia after Teafeather's assassination. The Communist influence can be removed, however it can potentially lead to Stalliongrad declaring war on Nova Griffonia. Vasiliy can be an ally for a Communist Nova Griffonia.
   • Griffonian Empire is Nova Griffonia's former overlord. Should they conquer Griffonia and reach the end of their focus tree, they will be able to demand you become their puppet or gain a war goal on you. Fortunately, it will take some time for them to reach the focus giving you plenty of time to prepare.
   • Changeling Lands can target Nova Griffonia after it has defeated Equestria, though this is rare.
   • Equestria can sometimes interfere with an expansionist Nova Griffonia by guaranteeing its neighbors. Nova Griffonia has claims on the Village Up North and may seize it via a border conflict decision if Equestria is in a civil war.

=== Political Paths === The political path is locked until Governor Teafeather's assassination, which happens around the middle of 1009. Around half a month after the initial two focuses are completed, Nova Griffonia will get an event where Field Marshal Erwin Highhill stages a coup on the provisional council.

Highhill's Coup Succeeds: The NGDF and FfNGSP will rebel against Highill and cause a civil war. Along the way, Highhill will ally with Reyhard Ironclaw, leader of the Party of Griffon Interests (FfIfG) and Skeiron Goldfeather, a ruthless capitalist.

After the civil war has ended there are 3 different paths Nova Griffonia can take. Either Highhill stays in power, Goldfeather negotiates with Highhill to dissolve the military junta and declare him the new head of state, or Ironclaw and his FfIfG take power in another coup.

Highhill's Coup Fails: Elections will take place after Highhill has been dealt with and either the Nova Griffonian Social Democratic Party (NGDF), Liberal Front (LF) or the Federation of Nova Griffonian Socialist Parties (FfNGSP) are elected.

Each path will provide its own unique buffs, with a few focuses shared between certain parties. Other than all getting rid of the Falcons of Griffonstone national spirit, they all vary on the effects, events and factories they give. However, they all converge at the bottom, with either The Federal Republic or The Unitary Republic. The Liberal Party can only take the federal form, the Socialist Parties can only take the unitary form, and the Social Democratic Party can take either. Both will finally fix the Eased Tensions national spirit.

Once the government form and policies have been established, Nova Griffonia will create the Northern Bloc, a new faction comprised of minor Northern Equus nations. It will allow you to gain an annex wargoal on the Griffonian Frontier if you haven't annexed them already, and invite neighboring nations to the faction if they have a similar ideology. If not, you will gain a puppet wargoal on them instead.

   Parties of Olenia:

   1. Nashanal Administratyon Kamiti - Ruled by Governor Teafeather (Provisional Council temporarily takes power after Teafeather dies in 1009) - Ideology: Centrism - Popularity: 47%. Biography: One of the nation's last semblance of stability, Imperial Governor Teafeather is no stranger to political upheaval. His noble lineage provided him a well-rounded education before his appointment as Nova Griffonia's Imperial Governor, a position he retained even after the Kemerski Revolution unfolded on the Griffonia mainland.

Across the ocean, the distant lands of Nova Griffonia eventually felt the ripple of this Revolution in the form of Ulla Redtail's coup in the 990's, but the attempt would be quashed. Despite failure forcing Ulla into hiding, many radical ideas still broil in the minds of Nova Griffonians, especially within left-leaning factions. Teafeather's abilities—particularly his forte for diplomacy between all parties—prevented further mass turmoil and bloody destruction, but this had led to the volatile political landscape of Nova Griffonia today.

Teafeather continues trying to balance the rapidly changing country, but he dreams to fly off on vacation to visit his beloved niece, Runa Teafeather; even despite ridiculous rumors of her pro-republicanism. Yet despite having many opportunities, the Imperial Governor is compelled to remain and rescue the deteriorating state of affairs, for lives of all in Nova Griffonia. Perhaps when circumstances are better, Teafeather can finally take his vacation leave...

   2. Nova Griffonyan Demokratik Front (NGDF) - Ruled by Wilhelm Silverwing - Ideology: Social Harmonism (Harmony) - Popularity: 23%. Biography: Once enlisted in Nova Griffonia's army, Private Silverwing reached the rank of Sergeant during his time serving in the Frontier performing security and anti-gang operations. Unlike his older superiors, who had been serving since Nova Griffonia's expansion into yak territories, Silverwing held no racial disdain nor prejudice towards non-griffons, a view he would keep to himself even beyond his end-service date. Only when Nova Griffonia's precursor republican political group opened a branch in his hometown of Nieuw Mirabelle did Silverwing finally expressed his beliefs, and his service merits and understandings later elected him to lead representative of republicanism in his hometown.

Contrary to his rough exterior, Silverwing made the decision to not let his constituents partake in Ulla's Revolution during the 990's. Backlash would be harsh, but the decision ultimately spared his hometown from the Revolution's crackdown, leaving him and faint number of smaller non-participant branches the last republican representatives left for Imperial Governor Teafeather to negotiate with after. Thus, the party was reformed and soon elected Silverwing's office as its core.

Yet instability has driven radicalism on all sides, and Silverwing must navigate his party's direction carefully if the Republican dream is to have any chance of surviving.

   3. Federeyshan fun Nova Griffonyan Sosyalist Partyes (FfNGSP) - Ruled by Heinrich Redtail - Ideology: Democratic Socialism - Popularity: 20%. Biography: Before his red feathers concealed his sickness, Heinrich Redtail was a lawyer in Nova Griffonia before travelling south to Stalliongrad to expand his knowledge. Becoming a staunch follower of Caramel Marks' ideas, he routinely communicated with Steel Stallion and took many visits back even after returning to Nova Griffonia. Joining his country's growing communist party, Redtail worked to expand its bureaucracy. The aging griffon's ideals and loyalty, however, would be put to the test when his sister—Ulla Redtail—assumed control over the party and launched her violent Revolution across Nova Griffonia. Unable to betray his sister, let alone his ideals, Heinrich joined the revolution, if only to manage its administration.

The Revolution ended in failure, and order was restored harshly. His sister would end up fleeing her death sentence, leaving him as last official of authority for Imperial Governor Teafeather to deal with. Surprisingly, Teafeather decided to spare him, and concessions were negotiated.

However, as the last organization of communism in Nova Griffonia, Heinrich finds his party swelling, particularly with far-left radicals who believed in Ulla's methods. By legalities and ideals, Heinrich strives to bring the ideals of Caramel Marks to Nova Griffonia for the betterment of all creatures.

   4. Fartey fun Interesn fun Grifon - Ruled by Reyhard Ironclaw - Ideology: Autocracy - Popularity: 10%. Biography: Leader of Nova Griffonia's nationalism movement, Ironclaw has risen to the leader of the Falcons—a nationalistic and racist organization serving as the answer to many whom live in the rural regions of the country. Born behind the mountainsides and away from the more developed east, Ironclaw experienced firstclaw much of the resentment and prejudices of non-griffon minorities inhabiting the frontier lands like many other young griffons growing up there, finding himself either the victim or the perpetrator of racially-motivated scuffles.

By the time Ulla Redtail's revolution erupted in Nova Griffonia, Ironclaw was already a member of the Falcons, and he with many other griffons flocked the countryside to snuff out any revolutionary elements they could find. Widely seen as a group responsible for keeping order in the broader rural areas of Nova Griffonia, the Falcons now use their recognition to grow and push for their group's beliefs in the theatre of politics.

Ironclaw's bold mannerisms and fierce words often cause many politicians to reject many of organization's proposals (including one blatantly calling for the removal of all non-griffons), but the Falcons' membership grows as many griffons begin viewing Ironclaw's extreme ideas as the only real countenance to change...
