- #3Abydos
Keys: Abydos, Abydonians, planet
Abydonian solar cycle lasts 36 hours. GOVERNMENT=Kasuf as leader LANGUAGE=Ancient Egyptian in form of Abydonian dialect Abydos consists of two major landmasses, the continents of Desh'retts and Khemhelt. Less than 40% of the planet is covered in water, making the entire surface of the world arid, even near the polar regions. The climate of Abydos is subject to great change, primarily with the presence of mighty earthquakes and torrential sandstorms. Most of these natural occurrences are due to Abydos' three moons, which exert great tidal forces against the planet and make subtle alterations to the magnetic field. When the Abydonians first met the team, they were friendly, believing the team had been sent by Ra. Abydonians are under the domain of Ra, he forces the human inhabitants to mine naquadah for him. Because of Earth and Dendera's rebellion against him, Ra outlawed writing on all of his worlds and caused them to come to a technological standstill.

Goa'uld rule the High Council of System Lords
- #5Stargate
Keys: gate, Stargate, portal, chappa'ai
Travel through a Stargate is strictly one-way: from the dialing gate to the receiving gate. This is not a limitation of the wormhole, but of the technology; wormholes will transmit anything that enters them, but no solid matter could survive the process. Stargate produces a violent burst of energy known as an unstable vortex or "kawoosh". This is due to the large amount of energy needed to form a stable wormhole, while keeping one open is much less power-intensive. This event will destroy any matter it comes into contact with; however, if the event horizon is blocked to within a few microns, the vortex will be suppressed. Stargates, also called Chappa'ai in Goa'uld, as well as various other names across the universe, are a series of devices built by the Ancients which create wormholes, allowing for near-instantaneous transportation between two distant points in space. SIZE=6.7 meters in diameter MADE OF=Naquadah WEIGHT=29+ metric tons / 32 tons (64,000 lbs) FUNCTION=Interstellar transportation
- #6Ra
Keys: sun god, Ra, god
Ra was the Goa'uld System Lord who personified the Egyptian sun god, and the first to discover humans. RANK=supreme System Lord ALLEGIANCES=Himself His elite Jaffa were the Horus Guards. Because of his power, authority, and cunning, Ra was the most powerful of the System Lords. Despite the animosity System Lords feel for each other, Ra was recognized as the Supreme System Lord of the Goa'uld Empire, a title which made him nominal Emperor of the Goa'uld. On some worlds, such as Abydos, he used only a handful of Jaffa and scare tactics to keep the local population in check while on other, more densely populated worlds he employed his massive armies as shock troops as well as intrusive police forces. Despite this, Ra was known to richly reward those who served him well and commonly showered them with wealth and honors. However, any who went against him were treated to torture and death, as well as being forced to serve under him unconditionally. On most of his worlds, Ra's people would congregate in small cities where they would be allowed a degree of autonomy provided they did not rebel against him and as long as they continued to work in the mines to pay their tribute.
- #7Mastadge
Keys: mastidge, Mastadge
The Mastadge (or Mastidge) was a beast of burden found on Abydos. They are large, hairy quadrupeds with a long neck, larger than a horse, with a considerably keen sense of smell. Though the origins of the Mastadge are unclear, these creatures may be descended from Terran horses who adapted in the harsh heat of day and cold of night in the Abydos desert. They were apparently well suited to living on the harsh desert climate, and also appeared to be able to breathe during sandstorms. The Mastadge has been domesticated for the Abydonians and, among being used for food and clothing, aided in labor during the thousands of years the population was oppressed by Ra. It is capable of galloping at great speeds. Resembles a camel but woolly and bulky.

- #9Brown
Keys: Derek, Lt. Brown, Lieutenant Brown
Derek Brown's origins were clear due to the strong Mississippi accent he had throughout his life. His southern origins also showed in his interest in blues music, and he became a competent blues guitarist in his adult life. Brown got on well with his comrades, chuckling at Feretti's jokes and victimization of Jackson. Although Jackson initially thought that Brown did not seem cut out for the mission, Brown's education and skills made him a valuable member of the team. He was also calm, and seemed unfazed by the dangers faced on the mission to Abydos. Brown was a native of Mississippi who joined the United States Air Force after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley. Reaching the rank of lieutenant, Brown was assigned to the Stargate Program and selected for the first mission to Abydos in 1996. As part of Colonel Jack O'Neill's team, Brown made contact with the Abydonians. Brown would serve as a technical officer during the mission, charged with operating the equipment being taken to examine their destination.

- #15O'Neill
Colonel Jack O'Neill has a very dry sense of humor (which he acquired after his mission to Abydos, before that he was a quiet and serious man) and is impatient with complicated explanations. His personal history is troubled. At some point, he married Sara O'Neill and together they had a son and named him Charlie. Shortly before traveling through the Stargate for the first time, Charlie was killed while playing with his pistol and, in the aftermath of this tragedy, he separated from his wife. During his career, he served as test pilot. When he is asked a scientific question he doesn't know the answer to, he often jokingly answers with "magnets," or some variation of the term. As stated by Cassandra Fraiser, O'Neill pretends he's not as smart as he really is. O'Neill appears to not prefer strict formality. He only wears Service Dress Uniform at occasions where a civilian would wear a suit, or when he's representing the United States Air Force. On the first mission to Abydos, O'Neill, grieving for the accidental death of his son, Charlie O'Neill, due to him shooting himself with Jack's gun, brought a nuclear warhead, believing the mission was suicide. - #16Staff Weapon
Keys: staff, staff weapon, Ma'Tok
The Ma'Tok staff, known more commonly as simply a Staff weapon, is a Goa'uld weapon that is used by the Jaffa warriors. They are, in essence, hand held plasma cannons and they come with all the strengths and shortcomings of attempting to use cannons as infantry weapons. It is capable of not only severely injuring the enemy, but also hurling him several meters backwards. Jaffa are trained to be able to determine whether a given surface can be broken by a Ma'Tok blast by hitting the surface lightly with the club. The front end is oval-shaped, which opens to reveal the barrel of the weapon. The back end has a club, allowing the staff to double as a melee weapon at close range. This back end also features a small blue patch that may be illuminated to act as a light. It is activated by a small control spot near the midsection and is powered by a small Liquid Naquadah power cell which will furnish the weapon for a seemingly indefinite amount of time. DISCHARGE=Plasma energy CONTROL SYSTEMS=Trigger SIZE=2 meters POWER SOURCE=Liquid Naquadah RANGE=40-70 meters MODEL=Personal weapon TYPE=Energy/Melee weapon
- #17Zat
Keys: zat, zat gun, Zat'nik'tel
Zat'nik'tel, also known as a Zat or Zat gun, is a Goa'uld handheld energy weapon. It is one of the most common weapons utilized by the Jaffa and Tok'ra, being easy to conceal and extremely lethal. The zat'nik'tel emits a translucent blue blast upon being fired. This blast resembles the shape of a quickly-oscillating sine wave bisected by a horizontal line. Visually, the Zat'nik'tel's design resembles a Goa'uld symbiote. The weapon is activated by squeezing a switch on the bottom curve of the gun. Following this initial activation, each subsequent press fires a directed energy beam from the "mouth" of the goa'uld. When deactivated, the weapon becomes more-compact with the top section folding down several inches. One shot will incapacitate a victim and cause immense pain. A second shot will kill them. A third shot will disintegrate the victim and their clothing. DISCHARGE=Electrical energy CONTROL SYSTEMS=Trigger POWER SOURCE=Naquadah MODEL=Personal weapon TYPE=Energy weapon
