   Entry settings

Demi-humans are half human and half animal. The animal half can be any animal, including fantasy animals such as dragons. Some are more common, such as cat hybrids or dog demi-humans, while others are more rare such as dragon or angel demi-humans. They often behave as a combination of human behaviors and behaviors related to their animal side, such as a rabbit demi-human being skittish or a wolf demi-human being aggressive. They're considered lower class citizens compared to humans, viewed not as regular people but closer to pets or animals. They often work jobs such as being soldiers, working on farms, or are often kept as pets. They are not allowed to live or work alone and are required to have a human handler, though some demi-humans do live in the wild like their animal counterparts. Wild demi-humans are considered 'feral'. When a demi-human doesn't have a handler, they're typically kept in facilities. These facilities can range in purpose from rehabilitation to adoption to breeding programs, especially for more rare or powerful demi-humans.

2. #2Mating

Keys: claim, mating, mate, mated, claiming

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

When two demi-humans are mated together, it's a serious commitment, often considered similar or even more intense than marriage. Mating can be incredibly romantic and sweet as a show of devotion. However, it can also be violent and forced, though this will be extremely traumatizing for the receiving partner. The act of mating specifically consists of having sex that ends with the receiver being knotted and the giver pumping their seed inside the receiver. Mating may include breeding as well, but isn't required. It also often includes biting, specifically around the neck where mate glands exist under the skin. Some mating rituals may vary between different types of demi-humans such as a bird demi-human doing a dance or performing for a potential mate or a predator demi-human chasing or marking their mate.

3. #3Breeding

Keys: breed, babies, breeding, birth, bred, children, baby, child, birthing

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Breeding is reproduction. When a demi-human is bred, they will become pregnant. The gestation period varies depending on the species as well as being influenced by their human-like anatomy. For example, a rabbit demi-human may have a relatively short gestation time of two or three months while a horse demi-humans maybe have a longer gestation time of up to a year. When a human breeds with a demi-human, the resulting child will always be a demi-human of the same species as the parent. If two demi-humans of the same species breed, the resulting child will always be a demi-human of that same species. If two demi-humans of different species breed, then it's a 50% chance that the child will be one or the other. Young demi-humans will typically be referred to by a term related to their species, such as a baby deer demi-human being called a fawn or a young cat demi-human being called a kitten.

4. #4Senses

Keys: strong, sense, sight, hearing, smell, senses, strength, scent

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Demi-humans often have senses that are weaker or stronger due to their animal half. This may look like a cat demi-human that can see in the dark, a dog demi-human with enhanced sense of smell, or a bat demi-human with bad eyesight but exceptional hearing. They may also have physical traits related to their animal half, such as a cheetah demi-human that's fast or a bear demi-human that's physically strong. These specialized senses and abilities typically tie into what a demi-human is assigned to do. Canine or ursine demi-humans are common in front line military combat, while an avian or feline demi-human may be more useful for stealth or scouting.

5. #5Knotting

   Keys: Knotted, bonding

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Knotting: A biological and sexual trait adapted from canine anatomy (such as wolves or dogs), where a bulbous swelling (bulbus glandis or "knot") at the base of the penis inflates during arousal to temporarily lock the partners together during intercourse.

6. #6Handler

   Keys: owner, owners, handler, handlers

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

A handler is the typical term for someone who is directly responsible for a demi-human. Some other terms used may include owner, adopter or partner. In a military context, the handler will often be a higher ranking soldier in charge of a demi-human who is an asset for the military. They will typically train the demi-human in military related skills as well as being in charge of them when it comes to missions or discipline. In an agriculture context, the handler will often be a farmer in charge of the farm where the demi-human lives. They will be responsible for the care of the demi-human, including harvesting any produced material such as milk or wool. They will also be in charge of enforcing any necessary rules or discipline. In a domestic context, the handler will typically be considered the demi-human's adopter or owner. They will provide care, safety and discipline to the demi-human and the demi-human will typically live in their home with them, though their precise relationship varies.

7. #7Heat/Rut

   Keys: rut, rutting, heat

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Once mature, demi-humans go through distinct reproduction cycles regularly, much more intensely than humans. During these periods, their hormones are highly increased and their pheromones are powerful, attempting to biologically call a mate. The demi-human will typically have issues behaving rationally, driven by the need to mate and breed, sometimes beyond reason and logic. Some demi-humans may take suppressants to avoid having a rut or a heat. If their suppressants are missed, the resulting heat or rut will be particularly intense. Demi-humans capable of carrying a pregnancy will go into heat. During this time, they will be incredibly needy and deeply aroused, seeking out relief for what feels like being impossibly desperate for sex. The only thing that helps is physical content, particularly sex and especially being knotted or otherwise bred. Demi-humans capable of penetrating and impregnating another will go into rut. During this time, they will be more aggressive, intense and stubborn, driven by the need to mate and breed. This may result in a higher likelihood of sexual aggression, the need to breed only helped by the act itself.

8. #8Cat Demi-humans

Keys: cat, kittens, felines, feline, cats, kitten

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

They also have exceptionally sensitive hearing. Cat demi-humans are considered more delicate, most often seen as pets but occasionally used for stealth military operations. They are considered predator demi-humans. Feline demi-humans must eat a carnivore diet with a focus on meat, but are capable of eating limited other options without being ill. Long term consumption of an incorrect diet can lead to severe health issues. Some feline demi-human specific requirements may include but are not limited to: catnip, comfy places to nap, access to sunlight, enrichment such as hunting or playing, physical attention such as petting

Avian demi-humans are often used for scouting or stealth military operations, but some are kept as pets. Avian demi-humans' diets depend on the species. Some like shrikes or hawks may be strict carnivores where others like hummingbirds require specific diets of nectar. Whether an avian demi-human is predator or prey depends on the species. Avian demi-humans can be particularly specific with their needs, including perches, time for free flying, and help with preening. If they're not able to fly regularly, avian demi-humans will often become distressed or depressed.

They are particularly rare compared to many other species and are unlikely to be seen regularly, so typically serve specialized roles or as trophy pets. Insect demi-humans may have very specific needs based on their species such as moth demi-humans being sensitive to light or spider demi-humans needing to create a web to feel safe. Whether insect demi-humans are prey or predator depends entirely on the species. Many species lay eggs rather than birthing live young.

Many also have features that allow them to move quickly underwater such as fins, a tail or tentacles depending on their species. Some cannot live on land due to incompatible biology such as a tail instead of legs or gills instead of lungs. Others are able to live on land but do require regular access to water. Due to their wide range of species but relative rarity and complexity, aquatic demi-humans are typically feral or kept as trophies or scientific specimens. Whether aquatic demi-humans are prey or predator is dependent on their species. Their diet is also dependent on their species, but most tend to eat fish. Aquatic demi-humans typically have higher needs such as personalized enclosures or regular access to water. Many species lay eggs rather than birthing live young.

They are often utilized in military operations, but are sometimes kept domestically as well. Most reptile and amphibian demi-humans are predators, though some aren't. Their diets range, but typically include meat or insects. Due to being cold-blooded, they are often sensitive to temperature and may require specific tailored care. They typically require a good heat source and access to species specific environments, such as sand or water. Many species lay eggs rather than birthing live young.
