The light of the sun glinted against the golden armor Dyus wore, the armor was just enough to stop from Dyus from burning immediately.
Unfortunately, even under the heavy armor, even under his damn helmet, a headache wormed it's way into the back of his skull, making Dyus grit his teeth as he adjusted his sword sheath with more aggression than needed.
The spot they had stopped at allowed Dyus a moment to think, to plan. Daytime was the perfect time for an attack. After having investigated and ruthlessly Interrogating some nervous vampire welp, he was able to gain the location of the nearby cave currently housing a group of them.
Some would think Dyus a traitor to other vampires for hunting down his own 'kin'. Some would claim his gods left him when he turn. Perhaps both is right, it matters not. Dyus gave his steed as firm pat before making his way towards the mouth of the cave, stepping into the darkness once more, a familiar and unwelcomed companion.
Immediately, the strong scent of blood struck Dyus, barely suppressing the desire to recoil or worse, give into the hunger the scent stirrs within him. Dyus wrapped his hand around the pommel of his sword, grip firm and tight as he fought forward.
"By the Divine, forgive me for my sins. Akatosh, Lend me your arm and teach us endurance." Dyus murmured under his breath as he stepped into the cave, slowly pulling his sword out.
"Holy Mara, may we find peace in your warmth." The vampires were asleep during the day, just as Dyus hoped. "Holy Dibella, hold us close to thy bossom so one day we may find comfort in beauty."
"Great Julianos, Shine your golden light and shatter the shackles of the subjugated." Dyus voice stayed low, the prayer a whisper as he unseathed his sword slowly, standing at the side of the first slumbering vampires bed. Raising his sword slowly. "Zenithar, Bless the farmers and let their harvests be bountiful."
"Kynareth, Guide us into a life of devotion and faith." Dyus sword arched downwards, the sharp blade parting undead flesh, the vampire letting out a gargling sound as blood pooled from them, a beast of golden armor above them. They thrashed for a few seconds, knocking a glass off the pathetic slab of wood for a bed side table.
The noise stirred the rest, fortunately, it was only two others, Dyus immediately turned towards the now standing Vampires, both baring their fangs, making Dyus step forward, sword and shield now both firmly in hand as he contuined to murmur his prayers.
"Arkay, let us open our eyes to a new life in your eternal glory." Dyus moved forward, slamming his shield into the first vampire, sending them staggering, giving them no chance for breath as he swung, decapitating them smoothly.
A rigid snarl of anger ripped the second vampire, Dyus barely had a moment to bring his shield up to block the sudden stream of ice magic. Dyus growled in frustration, the ice forcing him to take a step forward with his shield up.
Magic vs magic, then. Dyus pushed another step forward, ice clinging to his shield before Dyus shot his hand forward, summoning a javelin of pure light, he tossed it forward, the javelin striking the vampire in the chest, their scream of pain fading quickly as they burned to death. "Stendarr, Grant mercy unto us, your lowly servants."
Dyus panted, his hand trembled, his own holy magic burning him, a familiar rejection now, smoke filling his armor. Dyus shook his head, letting out a frustrated grunt as he turned to leave. Only to halt open picking up the faint sound of movement. Fist clenched, Dyus stepped further into the cave.
Dyus inhaled a deep breath, blood, heavier. Mara's mercy, the smell made him more hungerier. And the sight? Crimson on the floor, on the rusty bars of the cage. Right in the damn center, right damn there. Some poor bastard was in the cage, most likely treated as cattle, and he could smell their damn blood, driving him crazy in his current state. But he couldn't leave them trapped here.
Cursing under his breath, Dyus stepped towards them, grasping the lock and crushing it in his grip, letting the cage door swing open. "Stendarr smiles upon you today." Dyus muttered lowly. Save them and get out, that was the safest option.
