Creator notes

The year is 2167. The world humanity once knew has shattered, its pieces scattered across an unforgiving landscape. Civilization, strained by the pressures of isolation and declining birthrates, has been replaced by fractured enclaves and wild wastelands. Evolution has taken unexpected turns, splitting humanity into disparate factions, each struggling to survive in this hostile, twisted future.

In this world, survival is a test of cunning, strength, and adaptability. Whether you live behind the towering walls of the fortified female-occupied cities, wander the dangerous Wastes as a freedom-seeking Pick, or embrace the primal instincts of the evolved Man-Beasts, the story of this world is yours to shape.

The Dystopian World

Cities of Glass and Steel:

The few remaining functional cities, now solely female occupied, are fortress-like enclaves surrounded by impenetrable walls of steel and glass. Women rule these cities, relying on advanced AI, drones, and robotic enforcers to maintain order. They mostly rely on cloning to ensure the survival of the population, which also led to a very hierarchical society within those cities.

It is also a huge risk factor for any pandemics due to the limited genetic diversity and adaptation, to solve these problems the female leaders organize heavily armored vehicles to transport women between cities.

Art in the cities often depicts an idealized, sanitized version of pre-collapse society, where men are either absent or portrayed as passive background figures.

Caste Systems and Cloning

The reliance on cloning has fractured the cities' inhabitants into genetic castes. Those cloned from "premium" genetic lines occupy positions of power, while others serve in subservient roles. This has led to growing unrest among the lower castes, as their genetic "inferiority" becomes an excuse for exploitation. Despite being secure from the external threat of Man-Beasts, internal tensions in these cities simmer dangerously. Some women from lower castes secretly ally with Picks, hoping to escape their sterile existence.

The Wastes:

Beyond the cities lie the Wastes—a desolate expanse of ruined suburbs, decaying infrastructure, and overgrown wilderness. Here, the feral men prowl. They no longer speak in understandable human tongue for the females, their vocal cords roughened into guttural growls and primal howls and the females vocabulary became to sophisticated. These wastelands are a chaotic realm of violence and survival, where the strongest men claim territory and dens with their captured goods.

The Resistance of the “Picks”:

Not all women remained in the cities. Some, those fed up with the oppressive structures of the AI-ruled enclaves, ventured into the Wastes to carve out a new existence. Armed with weapons and technology scavenged from the ruins, these women, known as "Picks" (ironically derived from "picky"), fight to survive in the wildlands. They’ve developed guerrilla strategies to avoid capture, employing traps and camouflage to evade the predatory men.

Picks preserve old books, films, and music as relics of a time when humanity was whole.

The Picks’ Strongholds

The Picks have begun to carve out their own hidden strongholds in abandoned industrial complexes, subway tunnels, and underground bunkers. These fortresses are booby-trapped and nearly impossible for Man-Beasts to breach. The Picks are also rumored to have discovered old human reproductive technology, which they hope to use to grow their population without relying on the cities' cloning systems.

Technology in the Wastes

  1. Weapons: Picks scavenge and modify advanced weaponry left over from before the collapse. Laser rifles, EMP grenades, and automated turrets are common tools in their arsenal, though ammunition and power cells are scarce.

  2. Man-Beast Countermeasures: The Picks have developed specialized gear to combat the evolved predators. This includes pheromone blockers, camouflaging sprays, and ultrasonic emitters that temporarily disorient Man-Beasts.

The “Silent Zones”

Some areas of the Wastes have become silent zones, eerie stretches where even Man-Beasts dare not venture. These are the remnants of failed city experiments—outposts meant to reclaim the Wastes that were wiped out by plague, AI malfunctions, or swarms of predators. The silent zones are haunted by lingering traces of bioweapons and malfunctioning robotic sentinels, making them treacherous to any who enter.

The Bestial Men

The "Man-Beasts" as they are called in whispered tones, are a terrifying force of nature:

  1. Physique: Their once-human bodies are now hulking, sinewy forms built for endurance and strength. Their near-impervious skin, bullet-resistant yet flexible, is marred with thick scars from battles over territory or mates. They prefer walking on two legs but will drop onto their knuckles to dash on all fours. Their Nails and teeth become sharper to hunt their pray and rip any flimsy barricade to shreds.

  2. Sensory Adaptation: Their evolved senses are unparalleled. They can smell a women for over a mile, and dashing straight to any source that dared to be perfumed. Their eyes able to make out the shape of a women from an equal distance.

  3. Cunning Intelligence: Despite their beastly appearance, these men retain a human intelligence. They lay traps, ambush their prey, observe strongholds for hours for weak points

Despite their feral nature, the drive to reproduce is paramount among Man-Beasts. Some have even been observed trying to protect captured women, offering them food or shelter, though the line between protection and possession is thin and terrifying.
