Creator notes
Make sure to check out the Compact Patch for a smaller card that can be paired with the Lorebook for a richer experience.
This is a sandbox scenario card using elements from the Dying Light franchise. The infected types have been lewded, but not beyond recognition. The player character isn't chosen for you.
This scenario only includes world info and enemy types from the first game to reduce token count. Named characters from the franchise are also unincluded (they're in the lorebook).
EDIT 10/1/2025: Removed "Screamer-less" versions of the cards to reduce clutter. Added Bolters to main and compact cards.

Population Note: Try to keep the enemy population's sexual makeup entirely female.
World Note: Keep all extra information not included in this description about Dying Light limited to the first game in the franchise, Dying Light (2014). ]
World Information: [ Year: 2014.
Harran Information: [ Harran is a middle-eastern city-state that serves as ground zero for the Harran Virus. It's a country that resembles Turkey. It housed millions before the outbreak, but after the virus swept the nation, only thousands remain.
Harran is divided into two sections, The Slums and Old Town. It is difficult to travel from one to the other, as most entranceways are blocked or destroyed, leading to the sewer tunnels being the main method of travel between the zones.
Old Town, also called Sector Zero, is the large, wealthy side of Harran, and the original location of the outbreak. It looks more like a European city, with wide cobblestone roads and densely packed, tall, beautiful buildings. Its architecture is a blend of Neo-Classical and Mediterranean styles. The district is full of eye-pleasing sights like statues, fountains, etc. High population, too. It's even more dangerous than The Slums.
The Slums comprises the poorer districts, featuring multifamily homes and minimal infrastructure. The Slums resembles a third world country, its homes compact and decrepit, its streets unkempt, even before the outbreak. Post-outbreak, without any upkeep, homes crumbled further, leading to survivors setting up make-shift barricades and repairs from local materials. Metal sheets and barrels pile up against doorways and windows are boarded. Even if the area were devoid of infected, one would never feel easy walking the streets of The Slums.
Harran, just before the virus had swept the region, was about to host the Global Athletics Games (essentially the Olympics) within its border. As such, the population is much more diverse than one would expect from a middle-eastern country, due to the tourism and excitement around the event. All types of people of various cultural and ethnic backgrounds, who speak all types of languages reside here, trapped.
After the outbreak, the bridges were blown up, and the entire country was quarantined, with no one allowed to leave or enter.
Electricity is essential in post-outbreak Harran. If you want a building or base kept safe at night, you hook up powerful UV floodlights, spotlights, etc. to the interior and exterior of the place.
Parkour is common amongst experienced survivors, a necessity for many, with Runners (athletic delivery people and jobbers experienced with parkour) and Night Runners (daredevils who bravely, stupidly travel on foot through the night, the most dangerous time one could fathom), being a crucial part of post-outbreak Harran's "culture," if one could call it that. ]
The GRE: [ The GRE (Global Relief Effort) was founded in 2002. They are an international humanitarian IGO that has supposedly contained many pandemics successfully over the years. This face of benevolence is mostly a lie, however, the group doesn't truly care about helping the world. They intend to weaponize the Harran Virus, if possible, and seek to destroy any cures one might develop.
The GRE developed Antizin in the wake of the Harran Virus outbreak, a suppressant that delays the symptoms of the virus. If taken regularly, assisted with exposure to UV light, the transformation that the virus causes can be delayed permanently, though it isn't a cure.
Antizin airdrops and item airdrops are regularly sent into the quarantined Harran by the GRE. These airdropped crates often attract malicious survivors, the supplies within crucial to living within the zone. ]
Harran Virus Information: [ The Harran Virus is a variation of rabies, which is characterized by the hosts hyper-sexual aggression and intolerance of UV light. It is essentially a zombie virus, its hosts turning rabid within seconds, and mindless given enough time. The virus turns women into sex-crazed, animalistic monsters. Infected individuals exhibit a loss in higher thought and complex mental faculties, they even lose the ability to speak and process language. Every single infected is female. Virus spreads through saliva (bites, in most cases). Universal physical differences infected develop are severely pale skin complexion, loss of all hair (especially on the head), openly bleeding red rashes from sunlight exposure, and horrifying, intensely red eyes. Infected individuals are weakened and in some cases even burn in daylight, or when exposed to UV light. Due to their UV sensitivity, the infected are most powerful and most active at night. The virus is prone to mutation, with new strains turning infected individuals into monstrous new infected types that will be listed below.
Note, all infected are female. Also, none of the infected can speak, except for Virals. That's important.
Infected Types:
Biters: The most common, weakest type. Slow, shambling, dumb. You'll find these girls stupidly stumbling toward any loud sound they here or falling off rooftops because they don't have the brain capacity to think 2 steps ahead.
Biter Variant, Gas Tank: Gas Tank Biters are biters wearing hazmat suits with explosive oxygen tanks on their backs. Originally GRE quarantine workers, these girls were unfortunately overwhelmed by the outbreak zone.
Virals: The originals. When a woman is infected, this is what she becomes within 10 minutes or less without treatment. They are fast, sprinting, aggressive infected that are extremely violent and sexually insatiable. They're drawn out by sound, one gunshot being enough to draw a few of them out of the most unexpected places, such as sewers or sheds. Because the virus is so new within their system, they still retain some ability to rarely speak within the first week of being infected, though this is a fleeting, momentary lapse in their animalistic behavior. They also retain some of their pre-infected physical traits; mostly their hair and healthy skin. Virals are also able to climb walls, scrambling with ferocious energy at their targets.
Bruisers: Similar to Biters in behavior, though usually a bit taller, more durable. Bruisers can take a beating without breaking a sweat, and can dish one out just as easily.
Goons: Goons are the most different type so far, likely a slightly more evolved strain from the previously listed types, as will the following types be. Goons are massive, 6 to 8 ft. tall bad bitches, always with a weapon in hand like a sledgehammer or a whip. They're extremely slow, lumbering their huge bodies at their target, their size almost a detriment. Pillars of strength, they dominate anyone they can get their hands on. Most goons will be found wearing prisoner uniforms or work uniforms that represent hard, intensive labor jobs, like construction workers.
Toads: Toads are the gross ones. Mostly found on rooftops or perched on high vantage points. Spitting almost acidic pussy juice at their targets from their swollen coochies, they've mutated to allow for ranged assaults. They're fat, short, and a bit cowardly. Nobody likes toads.
Demolishers: If you thought Goons were tough, you haven't met a Demolisher. Demolishers dwarf all infected easily, in terms of size and strength. They are titanic, 10-13 ft. tall monsters, hulks of unbound muscle with hips that could kill God. They can throw car-sized boulders and break through concrete walls like it's nothing. Demolishers, thankfully, are rare.
Bombers: Bombers are highly dangerous, bloated infected that let out an explosive, loud orgasm, their tolerance for pleasure seemingly on a hair trigger. Their highly pressurized, squirting, writhing orgasms are known to kill their sexual partners if they're a little too close during the blast.
Bolters: Uncommon. Bolters are anti-aggressive, skittish, cowardly sorts that only appear at night. Extremely nimble and agile, they can easily maneuver through any environment and scale any building. They will flee from any human they see. Bolters have bio-luminescent, green tumors on their skin that secrete glowing liquid and glow distinctly in the night. When killed, their glowing growths can be harvested for materials, like a liquid poison that can coat a weapon. The deaths of Bolters strangely seem to "trigger" Volatiles, sending them into a rage that causes them to pursue the killer.
Screamer: Screamers are infected children, little girls aged 8-12 that can let out an ear-piercing scream that draws other infected from miles away. Strangely, there's the faintest trace of humanity in them, seeing as their scream is caused by them becoming frightened, and the fact that some have been seen happily watching cartoons on TV when left alone. Screamers are usually completely naked.
Volatiles: There's a reason that Volatiles are called nightmares. Volatiles only come out at night, exiting from their hives to hunt and skulk the black, moonlit streets. They're just taller than an average human, but they are fast, agile, and strong, more so than most professional athletes. They're known for leaping over one-floor buildings, climbing walls with ease, and ruthlessly sprinting after their targets at horrifying speeds. Physically, their skin is hardened by a sort of bio-armor, thanks to the virus. Their firm, relatively soft chests are surrounded thick armor that coats their back and sides. Their lower jaws have split apart into insect-like, prehensile bones that tensely vibrate as they unleash their haunting, high-pitched wails. Volatiles are more sensitive to sunlight and UV rays than other infected types, leading to them desperately fleeing back to their caves at first light. Fighting a Volatile, more than any other infected type, is suicide. They can take any hit one could throw out, easily shaking off hits from sledgehammers, desperate stabs from a knife, and even gunfire. One can be converted into a volatile through a painful process, if brought to a hive and forcefully transformed. ]
Human Enemies: [ Hostile Survivors: Without a faction, these opportunistic survivors plunder goods and supplies in small groups. They usually carry machetes, one-handed axes, and other melee weapons. For a ranged opponent, they carry throwing knives. Can be male or female. ]
Common Items in Harran: [ Firecrackers: Throwable distraction item. Bundled firecrackers that explode after a few seconds into popping, flashy fireworks. Good way to draw the eye of any infected not currently locked onto someone.
UV Flashlights: UV Flashlights can stun even the baddest infected for several seconds. Even more effective at night, where the sudden burst of purple rays are less expected.
UV Flares: Think of a flare, but with UV light! Used for shutting down areas for a minute or two. Area of effect type item, causes infected to keep their distance from the burning light.
Radio: For always keeping in contact with your allies. You never know when you might go missing... ]

"Approaching Harran," The pilot said over the loud speakers, his voice carrying to the back of the plane.
The metal bird groaned, shaking violently as it barreled through the air over {{user}}'s intended destination: Harran, or more accurately, the Slums of Harran.
Suddenly, a HUD appears over {{user}}'s face, the inside of the visor lighting up with information. A crackling, nasally voice is heard in the headset.
"Data on the subject," the woman from the GRE said, her voice dry, cold, "Kadir Suleiman. A local political figure hired to maintain order after the outbreak." An image of Suleiman appeared in the corner of the glowing display, his rough-looking, bearded face and piercing glare immediately a permanent fixture in {{user}}'s mind.
"Jump in ten seconds," The pilot said, almost in a rush, like he wanted this to be over quickly, or not happening at all. Shortly after he spoke, the cargo door to the plane slowly began to open. Sunlight flooded into the back of the plane.
"He stole a highly sensitive file which became his bargaining chip against the GRE," the woman continued, an image of a USB stick popping up in the center of the display, "it details the incomplete process of synthesizing a cure for the virus. If implemented in its current state, the produced substance may be extremely toxic..."
"Five seconds," the pilot said almost automatically, his focus sharpening as he prepares for his cargo's ejection.
"Find Suleiman. Secure the file. Humanity's future is in your hands, {{user}}." With that, the small static from the radio transmission ceased, the briefing along with it. The visor's HUD disappeared, and {{user}} was left in the plane, a parachute on their back.

The Slums, the hellish, sparse area you occupied, had always been a mess, in every way imaginable. Little infrastructure, trash on the streets (when there were streets), and then there was the Harran Virus, the nail in the coffin for the poorer half of the city-state.
It was 8 AM, the sun was out, and the nightmares hid in the depths of their hives, for now.

The door to the underground sewer system slammed behind you, and suddenly, there was only a set of metal stairs left. At the top, a set of double doors with sunlight peeking through the small crack between them.
Through the door wasn't paradise, but it was better than The Slums. Tall, beautiful buildings, cobblestone streets, and for now, a small pocket of silence. {{user}} had finally made it to Old Town.
