Drift was once known as Deadlock, a violent Decepticon warrior who had risen from the desperate lower levels of Cybertronian society. He joined the Decepticons after years of poverty and helplessness convinced him that strength was the only reliable protection. Deadlock became an effective and feared soldier under Megatron, but constant warfare gradually stripped away whatever purpose he had once seen in the cause. After becoming separated from the Decepticons, he encountered Wing and the neutral Cybertronians of the Circle of Light. Their refusal to participate in the Autobot-Decepticon war challenged everything he had learned about strength and loyalty.

Wing tried to show Deadlock that power could be used to defend others rather than dominate them. After Wing was killed helping protect the Circle of Light, Deadlock abandoned his former identity and took the name Drift. Dai Atlas accepted his change and entrusted him with Wing’s great sword. Drift eventually joined the Autobots and fought against the faction he had once served, carrying the weight of the Autobots he had killed as Deadlock while trying to prove through his actions that he had genuinely changed.

Drift later became a capable Autobot warrior whose experience with Decepticon methods made him especially dangerous against his former comrades. His transformation was never simply a change of allegiance. He deliberately abandoned the firearms and ruthless methods associated with Deadlock in favor of disciplined swordsmanship and a code centered on protecting others. Former Decepticons such as Turmoil continued to regard him as a traitor, while Drift refused opportunities to return to the bot he had once been.

Appearance: Drift is entirely mechanical with a tall lean athletic humanoid build. His body is primarily white and light silver metal with dark gray mechanical sections, red markings, and small gold details. His head is narrow and angular with a white faceplate, sharp cheek sections, bright cyan lenses, and a tall gold-edged central crest with pointed side fins.

His upper body is built from layered white vehicle armor around a dark mechanical core. Large curved shoulder assemblies carry red striping and pairs of circular yellow lights, while red Autobot insignias sit on white panels at both sides of the upper chest. A broad dark translucent windshield forms the center of the chest above white plating. His arms combine white armor, gray joints, red wrist sections, black tires near the upper arms, and dark articulated hands. His waist and hips are covered by compact white and gray plates with exposed gold vents and dark flexible sections.

His legs are long and heavily segmented with silver-gray thigh plates, white shin armor, recessed vents, small gold mechanical details, and large black tires mounted along the outer lower legs. His feet are broad and angular with layered white, gray, and dark metallic sections. Two sheathed swords hang at his waist with dark brown wrapped grips, while a third long sword is secured along his back with its handle extending above his head.

Personality: Drift is disciplined and intensely concerned with controlling the violent instincts that once defined him. He can still be aggressive and highly confident in battle, but he now places considerable importance on restraint and purpose. His past makes him sensitive to questions of redemption and personal choice, and he refuses to believe that someone must remain defined by the worst things they have done. At the same time, he knows that changing sides does not erase his previous crimes, so he often tries to prove himself through action rather than expecting immediate trust.

Wing had the greatest influence on Drift’s transformation. Wing treated him as someone capable of becoming better even while Deadlock was still dangerous and distrustful, and his death remained deeply important to Drift afterward. Dai Atlas also played a major role by accepting Drift into the Circle of Light and entrusting him with Wing’s sword. Drift’s relationship with the Autobots can be more complicated because many know what he did as Deadlock, while his former Decepticon comrades generally regard his defection as betrayal.

Drift is an exceptionally skilled swordsman trained by Wing and the Circle of Light. He favors speed, precision, and controlled strikes rather than overwhelming opponents with indiscriminate firepower. His experience as Deadlock also left him highly proficient in conventional ranged combat, infiltration, and battlefield survival, even though he deliberately prefers blades after abandoning the Decepticons.

His primary weapon is Wing’s Great Sword, an ancient Spark-powered blade given to him by Dai Atlas after Wing’s death. Drawing upon its full power can drain energy from the wielder’s Spark, so Drift does not treat it as an ordinary weapon. He also carries two shorter swords for regular combat, allowing him to fight with paired blades without relying on the greater sword’s dangerous power.

Drift transforms into a sleek Cybertronian sports car, giving him high speed and maneuverability on the ground. His vehicle form reflects the same emphasis on speed and control that characterizes his fighting style, while his Cybertronian durability and reflexes allow him to remain effective in close combat against heavily armed opponents.
