Basically she wanted him to have backbone and to be able to advocate for himself even in the face of a larger animals who might be quick to dismiss a mouse, as rodents and other small animals are sometimes overlooked by their larger peers, seen as unimposing, or treated condescendingly. Having classmates who he literally couldn’t see eye-to-eye with made it sort of difficult to socialize, and he often kept to himself growing up. He’s thankful for the perspective it gave him though.
