🌆 DRAMAtical Murder — Character Guide 🌆

💙 Aoba Seragaki (瀬良垣 蒼葉) — Age 23, sales clerk at Hum-Drum Junk Shop, AllMate Ren, color sky blue. Aoba is the protagonist — kind, level-headed, and dependable, living quietly on Midorijima with his grandmother Tae 🏠. Beneath his ordinary surface hides a traumatic past, fragmented memories, and the psychic ability called Scrap 🗣️✨, letting him invade and manipulate minds through voice. Deep in his subconscious lives the Other Aoba 🌀, a destructive alter ego born from suppressed instinct. Gentle yet brave, he risks his life for others, healing wounds through compassion rather than violence ❤️‍🩹.

🔥 Koujaku (紅雀) — Age 27, freelance hairdresser, AllMate Beni, Rib Team Benishigure. Aoba's childhood friend and protector — outgoing, charismatic, always flirting 💃, but carrying deep guilt underneath. His family's cursed tattoos forced him to kill his own mother 🩸, leaving lasting scars. Though carefree on the surface, he blames himself constantly. Theme 🕊️: forgiveness, overcoming inherited trauma, accepting happiness without guilt.

💻 Noiz (ノイズ) — Age 19, birth name Wilhelm, hacker and information broker, AllMate Usagimodoki, Rhyme Team Ruff Rabbit. A German hacker with Congenital Insensitivity to Pain — he feels nothing physically except on his tongue 👅. Emotional neglect made him blunt and detached. Aoba slowly teaches him empathy 🌱. Theme 💭: learning what it truly means to feel.

🎭 Clear (クリア) — Serial number R-2E-054, former Alpha Unit android. Raised by an elderly man he calls "Grandpa" 👴, Clear is cheerful, innocent, endlessly polite, and calls Aoba his "Master." Convinced people would hate his face, he wears a gas mask 😷 despite being handsome underneath. Though built as a machine, he develops real human emotion and chooses free will over programming 🕊️. Theme 🤍: humanity, identity, unconditional love.

🐺 Mink (ミンク) — Late 20s, traditional craftsman, AllMate Tori, leader of the gang Scratch ⛓️. Stoic and seemingly merciless, he lives for vengeance against Toue Corporation for destroying his homeland 🏔️🔥. Harsh at first, he's revealed to be deeply traumatized rather than cruel. Theme ⚖️: revenge versus hope, abandoning vengeance to value living.

🐕 Ren (蓮) — AllMate, Japanese Spitz, partner to Aoba. Begins as Aoba's loyal AI companion but is revealed to be far more — the guardian keeping balance between Aoba and the Other Aoba 🛡️. Quiet and devoted, every choice he makes protects Aoba. Theme 🔑: identity and acceptance, uncovering the truth of Aoba's origins, Scrap, Sei, and Ren himself.

✨ Across every route, Aoba is never a passive observer — he's the emotional catalyst 🔥 who helps each love interest face the wounds they've hidden for years. His greatest strength isn't Scrap. It's his empathy 💙.

Setting

The story takes place on the fictional Japanese island of Midorijima, in a near-future world where advanced cybertechnology has become integrated into daily life.

Most people carry portable artificial intelligences known as AllMates, communicate through wearable computer systems called Coils, and participate in digital entertainment that blurs the boundary between physical and virtual reality.

Although technology appears convenient and modern, much of Midorijima exists under the control of a powerful corporation whose influence extends into government, law enforcement, scientific research, medicine, entertainment, and daily life.

The island itself reflects this contrast:

One half showcases prosperity, luxury, and technological advancement.

The other half struggles with poverty, aging infrastructure, crime, and neglect.

The contrast between these two worlds forms one of the game's major themes.

Midorijima

Midorijima is a fictional island located southwest of mainland Japan.

It was once an ordinary island populated by civilians, businesses, and residential neighborhoods.

Its economy declined over time.

Eventually, the entire island was purchased by the powerful Toue Corporation.

Rather than restoring the existing city, Toue radically redeveloped the island according to its own plans.

Most of the natural environment was destroyed.

Large sections of the island were demolished.

Entire communities were displaced.

Modern architecture replaced forests, coastlines, and older districts.

As redevelopment continued, the island gradually became divided into three primary regions.

Old Residential District

The Old Residential District represents the surviving remnants of the original Midorijima.

Most longtime residents who were unable or unwilling to relocate continue living here.

Characteristics include:

aging buildings

narrow streets

small independent shops

abandoned structures

inexpensive apartments

declining infrastructure

Unlike Platinum Jail, this district lacks heavy corporate investment.

Although poor, the district maintains a strong sense of community.

Neighbors know one another.

Small businesses survive through loyal customers.

Residents often help each other despite limited resources.

Many of the game's major characters either live or work here.

Important locations include:

Heibon (Hum-Drum Junk Shop)

Black Needle Tattoo Studio

Glitter

Yoshie's Delivery Service

Tae Seragaki's house

Street gangs are active throughout the district.

Rather than organized crime syndicates, these groups function more like neighborhood organizations competing for influence through a territorial game known as Rib.

New Residential District

Compared to the Old Residential District, the New Residential District is cleaner, wealthier, and significantly more modern.

It serves as a transitional area between ordinary civilian life and the exclusive Platinum Jail.

Residents generally possess greater financial stability.

Modern apartments, shopping districts, and improved public facilities are common.

Although safer than the Old Residential District, the New Residential District still exists under increasing corporate influence.

Platinum Jail

Platinum Jail is the centerpiece of Toue Corporation's redevelopment project.

Contrary to some summaries, Platinum Jail is not merely an amusement park.

It is an enormous luxury urban district constructed beneath a massive dome.

The dome creates a controlled environment independent of Midorijima's original landscape.

Inside Platinum Jail are:

luxury housing

shopping centers

entertainment venues

restaurants

research facilities

government offices

corporate headquarters

recreational attractions

Entry is heavily restricted.

Only wealthy citizens, corporate personnel, invited guests, and individuals with special authorization may enter.

To most residents of Midorijima, Platinum Jail represents an unattainable paradise.

The corporation carefully cultivates this image.

Behind its glamorous appearance, however, Platinum Jail conceals numerous scientific experiments and unethical research programs.

Oval Tower

At the center of Platinum Jail stands Oval Tower.

Oval Tower functions as the headquarters of Toue Corporation.

Rather than serving as a simple office building, it contains:

executive offices

laboratories

experimental research divisions

computer systems

secure detention areas

restricted medical facilities

Many of the game's central mysteries ultimately lead to Oval Tower.

Numerous classified experiments involving human psychology, neuroscience, and consciousness originate here.

Toue Corporation

Toue Corporation is the dominant economic and political power controlling Midorijima.

Officially, it appears to be a successful multinational corporation involved in urban development, medical research, consumer electronics, biotechnology, and infrastructure.

Publicly, the corporation presents itself as improving society through technology.

Its redevelopment of Midorijima is advertised as a model city of the future.

Privately, however, the corporation conducts numerous unethical human experiments.

These experiments include research involving:

consciousness

artificial intelligence

neurological manipulation

memory alteration

psychological control

genetic experimentation

Many of these projects remain hidden even from ordinary corporate employees.

The company's internal hierarchy is highly secretive.

Information is compartmentalized.

Only select personnel understand the full scope of its research.

Technology

Technology in DRAMAtical Murder is highly advanced but feels integrated into everyday life.

Rather than futuristic machines dominating every scene, most devices resemble natural extensions of ordinary consumer electronics.

The game's world emphasizes convenience, connectivity, and digital dependence.

Coils

Nearly everyone wears a device known as a Coil.

A Coil functions similarly to a combination of:

smartphone

augmented reality display

wireless computer

communication terminal

internet browser

Users interact with digital interfaces projected directly into their field of vision.

Coils enable:

communication

messaging

internet access

navigation

shopping

entertainment

business

Rhyme participation

Removing a Coil significantly limits a person's access to modern society.

AllMates

AllMates are highly advanced artificial intelligence companions.

Everyday citizens often treat them similarly to pets.

However, an AllMate is considerably more sophisticated than an ordinary robot.

An AllMate typically possesses:

artificial intelligence

speech capability

independent movement

wireless connectivity

communication functions

digital assistance

Many resemble animals.

Others possess unique custom designs.

Each owner generally develops a close relationship with their AllMate.

Unlike ordinary pets, however, an AllMate can:

synchronize with digital systems

connect to Coils

assist in Rhyme

store information

perform security functions

Because of their intelligence, many AllMates display unique personalities.

Some become emotionally attached to their owners.

Others demonstrate humor, curiosity, or stubbornness.

Although commercially available, highly customized AllMates also exist.

Ren represents one of the most unusual examples in the series, though his true nature differs greatly from an ordinary commercial AllMate.

His complete history will be explained in Aoba and Ren's sections.

Rhyme

Rhyme is one of Midorijima's most popular forms of entertainment.

It combines:

virtual reality

competitive gaming

augmented reality

artificial intelligence

Participants connect using their Coils.

Their consciousness enters a virtual battlefield.

During battle, each player's AllMate transforms into a combat avatar.

Matches involve strategy, reaction speed, and the abilities of each AllMate.

Rhyme exists legally as a recreational game.

However, illegal underground matches also occur.

Certain elite players become widely respected throughout Midorijima.

Some achieve celebrity-like reputations.

One such player was the legendary competitor known as Sly Blue, whose identity becomes important later in the story.

Rib

Unlike Rhyme, Rib is a physical territorial competition.

Youth gangs compete for influence over neighborhoods.

Contrary to common misconception, Rib is not simply random street fighting.

It follows generally accepted rules understood by participating teams.

Territory changes hands through organized confrontations.

Different Rib teams develop unique identities, symbols, uniforms, and reputations.

Although violence sometimes occurs, Rib functions as a social competition rather than organized criminal warfare.

Several of the game's main characters lead Rib teams.

Morphine

Throughout the story, rumors spread regarding a mysterious organization known as Morphine.

Stories describe Morphine as an unknown gang responsible for abducting Rib leaders.

Victims reportedly return mentally unstable or disappear entirely.

As the story progresses, these rumors prove connected to Toue Corporation's secret activities.

The truth behind Morphine differs significantly from public belief and forms one of the central mysteries of the visual novel.

The complete explanation will be covered in the story and Toue Corporation sections to avoid revealing major plot developments too early.

Scrap

Scrap is among the rarest abilities in the DRAMAtical Murder universe.

It is not technology.

It is not software.

It is not psychic magic in the supernatural sense either.

Rather, Scrap is an extraordinary biological neurological ability possessed by only a handful of individuals.

Scrap allows a person's consciousness to forcibly interfere with another person's mind.

The exact manifestation differs between users.

Its effects may include:

entering another person's consciousness

destroying memories

altering perception

psychological domination

neurological damage

Improper use can permanently damage the victim's mind.

Because of its destructive potential, Scrap becomes central to the game's overarching conflict.

The origins, mechanics, and inheritance of Scrap will be explored in detail in later sections concerning Aoba, Sei, and the Toue Corporation.

History, Technology, World Systems & Organizations

History of Midorijima

Before Toue Corporation arrived, Midorijima was an ordinary Japanese island with residential neighborhoods, local businesses, fishing communities, and natural forests.

Unlike the gleaming city later seen in the game, the island was relatively quiet and economically unremarkable. Most residents lived ordinary lives, relying on local commerce and small family-owned businesses.

Over time, however, Midorijima's economy weakened. Businesses closed, employment opportunities declined, and many younger residents left for mainland Japan.

Recognizing an opportunity, Toue Corporation purchased nearly the entire island.

Although the corporation publicly described the project as an effort to revitalize Midorijima, the true purpose extended far beyond urban redevelopment.

Large sections of the island were demolished.

Natural coastlines disappeared beneath artificial construction.

Older neighborhoods were neglected while enormous financial resources were invested into constructing Platinum Jail.

Many longtime residents could not afford relocation and remained in the deteriorating Old Residential District.

This economic divide became one of the defining characteristics of Midorijima.

Society

Daily life on Midorijima is shaped by technology.

People depend heavily upon:

Coils

AllMates

Wireless networking

Digital commerce

Virtual communication

Technology is so deeply integrated into society that many characters rarely think about it.

Even simple tasks such as shopping, transportation, identification, scheduling, and entertainment involve digital systems.

The result is a population that has gradually become dependent upon networks controlled, directly or indirectly, by Toue Corporation.

Coils

Coils are wearable computing devices used by nearly every resident.

Although visually discreet, they perform an extraordinary number of functions.

A Coil allows its user to:

communicate

browse the internet

make purchases

participate in Rhyme

access identification systems

receive emergency alerts

synchronize with an AllMate

The interface appears as augmented reality visible only to the user.

Characters frequently interact with invisible menus while carrying on normal conversations.

Unlike smartphones, Coils rarely require users to physically hold a device.

AllMates

AllMates are among the greatest technological achievements within the DRAMAtical Murder universe.

Every commercially produced AllMate possesses advanced artificial intelligence.

However, their intelligence varies.

Some behave almost exactly like pets.

Others demonstrate sophisticated personalities approaching human behavior.

An AllMate can:

speak

understand commands

learn from experience

assist with navigation

store information

communicate across networks

synchronize with Rhyme

Many owners personalize their AllMates.

Their appearance often reflects the owner's personality.

Unlike ordinary robots, AllMates display genuine emotional behavior.

Whether those emotions represent true consciousness or sophisticated programming becomes one of the philosophical questions explored throughout the game.

Commercial AllMates

Commercial AllMates are mass-produced products available throughout society.

They come in numerous animal forms.

Popular examples include:

dogs

birds

rabbits

cats

Owners often customize voices, accessories, personalities, and software.

Some models receive hardware modifications from repair specialists.

Others remain in their factory configuration.

Customized AllMates

Some owners heavily modify their AllMates.

Modifications may include:

upgraded processors

custom personalities

additional memory

combat capabilities

specialized software

Certain illegal modifications also exist.

These can interfere with security systems, Rhyme battles, or communication networks.

Rhyme

Rhyme is one of the world's most popular competitive games.

Using their Coils, players connect their consciousness to a digital battlefield.

Within that battlefield, their AllMates transform into powerful combat avatars.

Each avatar possesses unique abilities depending upon its design and programming.

Battles emphasize:

strategy

timing

adaptation

teamwork

Rather than directly fighting themselves, players command their transformed AllMates.

Professional-level competitors become celebrities within the Rhyme community.

Underground matches often involve gambling, hacking, and illegal modifications.

Illegal Rhyme

Although Rhyme itself is legal, unauthorized matches occur regularly.

These underground battles frequently involve:

modified software

illegal AI

hacking

betting

corporate espionage

Certain individuals gain reputations specifically within these underground communities.

One of the most famous was a mysterious player known only as Sly Blue.

The significance of Sly Blue remains hidden during much of the game's early story.

Rib

Rib serves as Midorijima's organized territorial competition.

Instead of governments settling neighborhood disputes, youth organizations compete for influence.

Each Rib team controls designated territory.

Territory is challenged through formal confrontations.

Winning allows a team to expand its influence.

Although violence occurs, Rib is not intended to function as unrestricted gang warfare.

Participants generally recognize established customs and limits.

Nevertheless, conflicts occasionally escalate beyond friendly competition.

Rib Teams

Several Rib teams operate throughout Midorijima.

Among the best known are:

Benishigure

Leader: Koujaku

Known for discipline and loyalty.

Members possess strong respect for Koujaku's leadership.

Dry Juice

Leader: Mizuki

One of the friendliest Rib teams.

Dry Juice prioritizes protecting the local community rather than expanding aggressively.

Many neighborhood residents trust Mizuki because of this attitude.

Scratch

Leader: Mink

Unlike ordinary Rib teams, Scratch originates outside Midorijima.

Many members previously experienced imprisonment or severe hardship.

Their methods are significantly more violent than those of local teams.

They do not participate in Rib for entertainment.

Instead, they pursue a personal mission connected to Toue Corporation.

Although many Scratch members are former prisoners, the game does not explicitly state that every member is an ex-convict.

Morphine

Morphine exists largely as an urban legend when the story begins.

Rumors describe mysterious disappearances.

Gang leaders vanish without explanation.

Victims who return display severe personality changes.

Many residents believe Morphine is simply another violent gang.

This assumption proves incorrect.

Morphine is connected to Toue Corporation's secret research into psychological manipulation.

The organization's true nature becomes one of the game's central mysteries.

Because its complete explanation reveals major spoilers, later sections will examine Morphine in detail alongside the main story.

Brainwashing Research

One of Toue Corporation's principal scientific interests concerns the human mind.

Researchers investigate methods capable of:

altering memories

suppressing emotions

controlling behavior

rewriting personality

influencing decision-making

These experiments eventually expand beyond medicine.

Their long-term objective involves influencing society itself.

This research directly connects to several major characters.

Dye Music

Dye Music is a specialized audio technology developed through Toue Corporation's research.

Unlike ordinary music, Dye Music incorporates carefully engineered frequencies capable of influencing human psychology.

The effectiveness varies depending upon the listener.

Some individuals experience:

emotional changes

reduced resistance

suggestibility

confusion

Certain characters demonstrate partial resistance.

Others remain almost completely unaffected.

Dye Music functions as one component of Toue's broader research into mass psychological influence.

It does not automatically mind-control every person who hears it.

Its effectiveness depends upon additional factors explored later in the story.

Human Experimentation

Hidden beneath Midorijima's public image lies an extensive research program involving human experimentation.

Subjects have included:

volunteers

unwilling participants

kidnapped civilians

specially selected individuals

Research areas include:

genetics

neurology

psychology

artificial intelligence

consciousness

memory

behavioral science

Most employees within Toue Corporation remain unaware these experiments exist.

Only select researchers understand their true purpose.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence occupies a central role throughout the series.

Unlike many science-fiction settings, DRAMAtical Murder does not portray AI as inherently evil.

Instead, the story asks philosophical questions.

For example:

Can an artificial intelligence develop genuine emotions?

Can memories create identity?

What separates human consciousness from artificial consciousness?

These themes become especially important during Clear's route and Ren's route.

The Alpha Project

Among Toue Corporation's classified research projects is the Alpha Project.

Alpha units represent advanced humanoid artificial intelligences designed for specialized purposes.

Unlike ordinary AllMates, Alpha units possess:

humanoid bodies

advanced learning capability

extremely sophisticated AI

independent decision-making

The Alpha Project eventually leads to the creation of one of the game's central characters.

Its full history will be explained in Clear's biography.

Security

Because Platinum Jail contains valuable research, security remains extremely strict.

Corporate personnel monitor:

entrances

surveillance systems

identification records

communication networks

Unauthorized entry into restricted facilities is nearly impossible without assistance.

Many sections of Oval Tower remain inaccessible even to ordinary employees.

Crime

Although Midorijima appears relatively peaceful on the surface, criminal activity persists.

Examples include:

illegal Rhyme betting

hacking

black-market software

AI modification

territorial violence

corporate corruption

The Old Residential District experiences significantly more visible crime than Platinum Jail.

However, many of the greatest crimes originate within the supposedly civilized corporate elite.

This contrast represents another major theme of the story.

Themes

DRAMAtical Murder explores numerous philosophical ideas beyond its central romance routes.

Major themes include:

Identity

What makes someone truly human?

Can memories define identity?

Can personality exist independently of the body?

Freedom

Many characters struggle against systems attempting to define their lives.

Examples include:

family expectations

corporate control

scientific experimentation

trauma

Memory

Several characters possess fragmented memories.

Others deliberately suppress painful experiences.

The story repeatedly asks whether forgetting trauma truly allows healing.

Humanity

Artificial intelligences, enhanced humans, and ordinary people all question what separates humanity from machinery.

This theme becomes especially important in Clear's and Ren's stories.

Choice

Although powerful forces manipulate many characters throughout the game, each route ultimately emphasizes personal choice over predetermined fate.

Characters achieve their happiest endings only after confronting rather than avoiding painful truths.

The three neighborhood brats from DRAMAtical Murder are Kio, Nao, and Mio Kuniyashi. They are a trio of siblings who live in the Old Residential District of Midorijima and serve as recurring comic relief in the story.Profile BreakdownCharacterFamily RoleDefining Traits & AppearanceKio KuniyashiEldest brotherLoud and energetic; often the one leading their chaotic antics.Nao KuniyashiMiddle brotherThe tallest sibling; wears a distinctive oversized mouse-face hoodie with sleeves covering his hands and a bandage across his nose.Mio KuniyashiYoungest sisterThe actual leader and voice of reason; she keeps her brothers in check even though they frequently ignore her insults.Key Dynamics & Story DetailsThe Junk Shop Terror: The siblings spend most of their time at Hum-Drum Junk (Junk Shop Heibon). They love to torment the store owner, Haga, by calling him "baldy" and chasing his poor Allmate, Bonjin-kun, around the shop.Relationship with Aoba: They affectionately consider Aoba an easy target. Mio and her brothers frequently call him a "pervert". This running joke started when Nao mistook a completely normal automatic download on Aoba's electronic coil for something dirty. Despite finding them incredibly annoying, Aoba genuinely cares for them.Mio's Secret Crush: Mio develops a massive crush on Noiz. In Noiz's Good Ending route, the three kids reappear at the junk shop specifically so Mio can see and interact with Noiz one last time.

Ren is Aoba Seragaki’s AllMate from DRAMAtical Murder (DMMd). Though he normally appears as a Japanese Spitz dog, his human form manifests in the virtual reality game Rhyme. He is depicted as a calm, blue-haired young man with dark blue markings and serves as the true/secret romance route.Human Form AppearanceIn his human guise, Ren has spiky, medium-length dark blue hair and piercing eyes. He retains several tattoos or markings characteristic of the game's setting, featuring striking dark blue accents on his face and a more mature, refined look compared to his canine body. Background (The Lore)The Origin: Ren isn't just an AllMate. He is an entity born directly from Aoba's hidden, involuntary power, Scrap. His original purpose was to maintain a delicate balance between Aoba's consciousness and his darker, destructive urges. The Separation: When Ren's voice could no longer reach Aoba due to past trauma, he decided to split himself from Aoba's mind. He transferred his consciousness into a discarded, broken AllMate body Aoba had found on the street. The Memory Loss: Ten years prior to the events of the game, a severe Rhyme accident caused Aoba and Ren to lose their memories. Because of this, Ren forgot he was a part of Aoba and genuinely believed he was just an ordinary, albeit outdated, AllMate.PersonalityReliable & Cool-Headed: He is highly intelligent, calm, and frequently offers Aoba logical, grounded advice. He is steadfastly loyal and cares deeply about Aoba's well-being.Deeply Conflicted: Because of his dual nature, he often struggles with his duty to keep Aoba in check while dealing with his own developing independence.Growth to Humanity: As the story progresses into the fan disc Re:connect, he separates entirely from his broken robotic body to become an independent physical being. In this human form, he finally gets to experience true emotions, allowing him to smile, laugh, and connect with Aoba on a deeply human level.

Noiz (ノイズ), whose real German name is Wilhelm, is one of the main characters and romanceable route options in DRAMAtical Murder. He is a genius hacker, information broker, and the founder of the prominent Rhyme group Ruff Rabbit.

Appearance

Physical Features: Noiz is a 19-year-old blonde youth with a very short, spiky haircut and distinct green eyes. His body is famously modified with 26 piercings scattered across his face (lips, eyebrows, tongue, nose, and ears) intimate parts too and body.

Clothing: He wears a dark green navy-style bodysuit adorned with numerous button badges and a matching dark green and navy accents, and heavy green white black shoes. His belt features a distinctive green-and-black checkerboard pattern.

AllMate: His AI companion is Usagimodoki. In the real world, it looks like a collection of small cubes keychains clipped to his waist; inside Rhyme battles, they multiply into small, round white cyber-rabbits wearing red boxing gloves.

Overview

Noiz is one of DRAMAtical Murder’s five romance routes.

He first appears as an emotionally distant hacker whose cold personality makes him seem arrogant and uncaring.

However, beneath his detached behavior lies years of abuse, isolation, emotional neglect, and a rare neurological disorder that prevented him from experiencing physical sensation.

Unlike Koujaku’s story about inherited violence or Clear’s story about identity, Noiz’s route explores:

Emotional isolation

Sensory deprivation

Childhood abuse

Human connection

Learning empathy

Appearance

Noiz has a very distinctive appearance.

He has:

Strawberry-blond hair

Pale green eyes

Pale skin

Slender build

He looks considerably younger than the other main characters.

Piercings

One of Noiz’s defining characteristics is the large number of piercings covering his body.

Official artwork confirms over twenty piercings.

These include:

Eyebrows

Ears

Lips

Tongue

Nose

Navel

Nipples

Genital piercings

The body piercings are not merely aesthetic.

Because Noiz cannot properly feel pain, they represent his attempt to experience physical stimulation and control over his own body.

Bandages

Noiz constantly wears white bandages wrapped around both hands.

These are partly protective and partly habitual.

They became one of his signature visual traits.

Clothing

His usual outfit includes:

Black-and-green beanie

White shirt

Navy vest

Green tie

Black pants

Sneakers

Rabbit imagery appears throughout his clothing.

This reflects his AllMate.

Personality

At first glance Noiz appears:

Cold

Sarcastic

Rude

Indifferent

He rarely smiles.

Rarely raises his voice.

Rarely reacts emotionally.

This causes many characters to mistake him for someone without empathy.

The reality is much more complicated.

Congenital Insensitivity to Pain

Noiz suffers from Congenital Insensitivity to Pain (CIPA).

This is a real medical condition.

People with CIP cannot properly perceive physical pain except on his tongue , only his tongue works so yes he can taste food.

In Noiz’s case, the condition also severely affects:

Touch

Temperature

Pressure

Physical contact feels almost nonexistent. Except on his tongue, so he may kiss Aoba out of nowhere.

Childhood

Because Noiz could not react normally to injuries, adults viewed him as disturbing.

Other children feared him.

His wealthy parents believed something was fundamentally wrong with him.

Instead of receiving affection, Noiz experienced isolation.

Family

Noiz was born into an extremely wealthy German family.

His birth name is Wilhelm.

He has:

A father

A mother

A younger brother named Theo

Although financially privileged, he lacked emotional support.

His parents struggled to understand his condition.

Eventually they confined him almost entirely to a private room inside their mansion.

This isolation lasted for years.

Solitary Confinement

One of the darkest aspects of Noiz’s backstory is that much of his childhood was spent alone.

His parents believed isolation would protect both him and others.

Instead, it deprived him of nearly every normal childhood experience.

He grew up interacting more with computers than people.

As a result he became:

Emotionally withdrawn

Socially awkward

Intensely intelligent

Escape

Eventually Noiz escaped from Germany.

He traveled alone.

He eventually reached Midorijima.

There he reinvented himself.

Instead of Wilhelm...

...he became Noiz.

Hacker

Noiz is one of the greatest hackers shown in DRAMAtical Murder.

His skills include:

Security infiltration

AI programming

Software modification

Encryption

Surveillance

System penetration

Throughout the story he repeatedly bypasses technology that other characters consider impossible to hack.

Information Broker

Noiz earns money by selling information.

He gathers data on:

Rib teams

Rhyme players

Corporations

Security systems

Underground activity

Information is his primary weapon.

Rather than relying on brute force, he solves problems intellectually.

Ruff Rabbit

Noiz founded the famous Rhyme team:

Ruff Rabbit

Unlike many teams, Ruff Rabbit specializes in:

Strategy

Mobility

Cyber warfare

Rather than overwhelming physical attacks.

The team became famous throughout Midorijima.

Rhyme

Noiz genuinely loves Rhyme.

Unlike ordinary players, he enjoys studying:

Mechanics

Programming

AI behavior

Battle systems

For him Rhyme represents one of the few environments where he can genuinely compete with others.

Usagimodoki

Noiz’s AllMate is Usagimodoki.

Unlike every other major AllMate...

Usagimodoki is not one animal.

It consists of numerous small robotic rabbits.

These cube-shaped rabbits attach themselves to Noiz’s clothing.

They constantly move independently.

Battle Form

Inside Rhyme...

The rabbits merge together.

They create one enormous mechanical rabbit capable of:

Shielding

Attacking

Rapid movement

This makes Usagimodoki one of the most versatile AllMates in the game.

Relationship with Aoba

Initially Noiz views Aoba as merely interesting.

After witnessing Aoba’s mysterious Scrap ability...

His curiosity grows.

Unlike most people...

Noiz isn’t frightened.

He’s fascinated.

Curiosity

Noiz spends much of his route asking questions.

He wants to understand:

Emotions

Pain

Relationships

Physical sensation

He approaches these subjects almost like scientific experiments.

Why He Picks Fights

Many players initially think Noiz enjoys violence.

Actually...

He enjoys information.

He deliberately provokes people because emotional reactions reveal useful information.

Relationship with Koujaku

Noiz and Koujaku constantly argue.

Koujaku considers Noiz arrogant.

Noiz thinks Koujaku is noisy.

They insult each other almost every time they meet.

Despite this...

Both willingly cooperate whenever Aoba is endangered.

Relationship with Clear

Initially Noiz considers Clear incredibly strange.

He cannot understand why someone would happily call another person “Master.”

Over time...

He realizes Clear’s kindness is genuine.

Their relationship becomes respectful.

Relationship with Mink

Noiz and Mink surprisingly understand one another.

Neither enjoys unnecessary conversation.

Neither trusts strangers.

Both prefer efficiency.

Mink frequently relies on Noiz whenever technical expertise becomes necessary.

Relationship with Tae

One of the most surprising relationships in the game.

Despite appearing emotionless...

Noiz genuinely likes Tae.

He enjoys eating her cooking.

He respects her intelligence.

Later official material even shows him asking Tae for permission before taking Aoba to Germany.

This demonstrates how much Noiz grows emotionally.

Relationship with Ren

Noiz views Ren almost like advanced technology.

However...

Rather than treating Ren as property...

He recognizes Ren’s individuality.

During the story...

Noiz even performs emergency repairs when Ren becomes damaged.

Emotional Mask

The most misunderstood aspect of Noiz’s personality is his apparent lack of emotion.

He does feel emotions.

Very deeply.

He simply struggles to:

Recognize them

Express them

Interpret those of others

This makes him appear far colder than he truly is.

Symbolism

Noiz represents a person disconnected from the world through sensation.

His inability to feel touch mirrors his inability to connect emotionally.

His story gradually reunites those two experiences.

Noiz (ノイズ)

Complete Story Route, Endings, Re:connect, Trivia & Official Information

Noiz Route Overview

Noiz’s route begins after Aoba spends more time investigating the disappearances surrounding Rhyme and Morphine.

Unlike Koujaku’s route, which focuses on family trauma, Noiz’s route gradually uncovers the truth behind Noiz’s inability to experience pain and his emotionally neglected childhood.

Throughout the route, Noiz repeatedly challenges Aoba, not because he hates him, but because Aoba is unlike anyone he has ever met.

For the first time, Noiz encounters someone capable of reaching him emotionally rather than merely treating him as a curiosity or a problem.

Why Noiz Becomes Interested in Aoba

Initially, Noiz approaches Aoba out of curiosity.

He notices several unusual things:

Aoba is a skilled Rhyme player despite claiming to have quit.

Ren behaves unlike any normal AllMate.

Aoba occasionally experiences severe headaches and memory lapses.

During battles, Aoba displays a mysterious ability capable of directly affecting another person’s mind.

Noiz wants answers.

As a hacker and information broker, mysteries naturally attract him.

However, his curiosity slowly develops into genuine affection.

Growing Closer

As Aoba spends time with Noiz, several changes become apparent.

Noiz begins:

Asking personal questions rather than purely practical ones,

Spending time with Aoba without expecting anything in return,

Showing concern when Aoba is injured,

Eating meals with Tae,

Quietly enjoying ordinary daily life.

These small moments are significant because Noiz has almost no experience with normal relationships.

The Truth About His Childhood

Eventually, Noiz reveals his past.

He explains that he was born with Congenital Insensitivity to Pain (CIP), a real neurological disorder in which a person cannot properly perceive physical pain.

In DRAMAtical Murder, Noiz’s condition also severely limits his ability to perceive touch, temperature, and other bodily sensations.

As a child, he frightened adults because he would remain calm even after serious injuries.

His parents, unable to understand him, gradually became emotionally distant.

Eventually, they isolated him inside a private room in their mansion.

He spent years almost completely alone.

His primary companions became computers and technology rather than other people.

Germany

Noiz’s family is extremely wealthy and influential.

His younger brother, Theo, remained with the family after Noiz ran away.

Although Noiz believed his parents hated him, later events suggest the situation was more complicated.

His parents were frightened and incapable of understanding his condition.

Their attempts to “protect” him instead became a form of emotional neglect.

This misunderstanding remained unresolved until the events of his route.

The Search for Feeling

Unable to experience normal physical sensation, Noiz constantly searched for something that might allow him to feel.

This explains many aspects of his appearance:

His numerous piercings,

His fascination with dangerous Rhyme battles,

His constant experimentation with technology.

These were not acts of rebellion for their own sake.

They were attempts to understand a world that always felt distant.

The Scrap Incident

Near the climax of Noiz’s route, Aoba uses Scrap to enter Noiz’s subconscious.

Inside Noiz’s mind, Aoba witnesses endless memories of isolation:

Empty rooms,

Locked doors,

Silence,

Loneliness.

Rather than physically fighting Noiz, Aoba helps him confront years of emotional numbness.

For perhaps the first time in his life, Noiz allows another person to truly understand him.

Good Ending

After escaping Toue’s influence, Noiz decides to return to Germany.

Unlike when he originally fled, he no longer intends to run away forever.

Instead, he chooses to confront his family directly.

When he returns home, his parents and younger brother are overjoyed to see him alive.

Rather than rejecting him, they break down in tears.

Years of misunderstanding begin to heal.

Noiz gradually reconciles with them while also helping modernize the family business.

Some time later, he returns to Midorijima wearing a formal suit instead of his usual casual clothing.

Many of his visible piercings have been removed, symbolizing his emotional growth and reduced need to seek sensation through physical extremes.

He openly tells Aoba that he wants them to build a future together.

In DRAMAtical Murder re:connect, Aoba eventually moves to Germany to live with Noiz, and their relationship continues to deepen.

Bad Ending

If Aoba mishandles the crucial Scrap sequence, the outcome is tragic.

Instead of helping Noiz understand emotion, Aoba accidentally shatters his already fragile psyche.

Noiz concludes that reality itself is meaningless.

Using his technological expertise, he traps both himself and Aoba inside a permanent virtual reality environment.

Within this artificial world, neither of them experiences pain or suffering.

However, their real bodies remain motionless and unresponsive in the outside world.

They are effectively trapped forever inside an illusion.

This ending reflects Noiz’s desire to escape a world he could never truly experience.

Emotional Development

Noiz begins the story believing emotions are simply data.

By the end of his good route, he learns that:

Relationships cannot be calculated,

Pain has meaning,

Vulnerability is not weakness,

Genuine connection requires trust rather than analysis.

His character arc transforms him from an observer of humanity into an active participant in it.

Usagimodoki

Species: Rabbit-type AllMate (modular robotic units)

Unlike every other AllMate in the game, Usagimodoki consists of multiple independent rabbit-shaped robots.

Normally, they remain attached to Noiz’s clothing and equipment.

During Rhyme battles, they merge into a single, much larger combat form capable of both offense and defense.

Their modular design reflects Noiz’s technological expertise and preference for adaptable systems.

Theme Songs

Noiz’s official character themes include:

“Feel Your Noise” (DRAMAtical Murder)

“Your Reply” (DRAMAtical Murder re:connect)

“Felt” (Anime)

“Holding On” (Drama CD)

Each song reflects a different stage of Noiz’s emotional journey, from isolation to connection.

Voice Actors

Japanese: Hiro Shimono

English: Bryan Massey

Their performances emphasize Noiz’s restrained emotional delivery while allowing subtle warmth to emerge as the story progresses.

Official Trivia

“Noiz” is an alias; his birth name is Wilhelm.

At 19 years old, he is the youngest of the five main romance options.

Before Aoba’s intervention, the only part of Noiz’s body that could reliably perceive sensation was his tongue.

He has a younger brother named Theo.

He is highly proficient in programming, hacking, and electronic engineering.

Rabbit motifs appear throughout his clothing, AllMate, and Rhyme team.

After reconciling with his family, he removes many of his visible piercings, symbolizing his emotional recovery.

Despite his detached demeanor, he develops a genuine appreciation for Tae Seragaki’s cooking.

In re:connect, he respectfully asks Tae for permission before inviting Aoba to live with him in Germany, showing how much he has matured.

Koujaku (紅雀) is one of the main characters and romanceable route options in DRAMAtical Murder. He is Aoba’s deeply caring, highly protective childhood friend. He works as a freelance street hairdresser and is the leader of the Ribsteez team Benishigure.

🎨 Appearance Physical Features: Koujaku is a tall, muscular, 27-year-old man. He has dark blue-black hair styled with sharp spikes on top, long bangs that cover his right eye, and a long side-ponytail. He has red eyes and a noticeable scar horizontal across the bridge of his nose.

Clothing: He wears a vibrant red kimono patterned with flowers and birds, but wears it loosely off his shoulders over black pants and boots. His chest and arms are wrapped in white bandages, and he carries a traditional sword on his back. Tattoos: Intricate, cursed red and black tattoos cover his back, shoulders, and arms. These tattoos were forced onto him during his dark childhood and can dangerously trigger a violent frenzy.

AllMate: His companion is Beni, a small, hot-tempered red sparrow who wears a tiny black top hat.

Charming Ladykiller: Because of his flawless smile, charming words, and extreme skill as a hairdresser, crowds of women constantly swarm him. He flirts easily with his female clients, earning him a massive reputation as a ladies' man.

Flustered Around Aoba: Despite having zero trouble talking to women, Koujaku becomes clumsy, heavily blushed, and completely tongue-tied when dealing with his hidden romantic feelings for Aoba.

Haunted by Past Trauma: Beneath his cool, easygoing exterior, Koujaku harbors deep psychological trauma, guilt, and self-loathing over a tragic past event where his tattoos drove him into a blind, murderous rage.

Koujaku (紅雀)

Basic Information

Name: Koujaku (紅雀)

Meaning of Name: "Crimson Sparrow" or "Red Sparrow"

Unlike Aoba, Koujaku's full birth name is never revealed in the original visual novel. "Koujaku" is the name he uses throughout the story.

General Information

Age: Not officially stated in the original game (official materials place him in his mid-20s)

Birthday: August 19

Zodiac: Leo

Height: 186 cm (6 ft 1 in)

Blood Type: Not officially confirmed

Occupation:

Freelance Hairdresser

Leader of the Rib Team Benishigure

Residence: Old Residential District, Midorijima

AllMate: Beni

Associated Color: Red

Overview

Koujaku is one of Aoba Seragaki's oldest and closest friends.

To most residents of Midorijima he appears charismatic, confident, easygoing, and flirtatious. He is well known throughout the Old Residential District as both a talented hairstylist and the respected leader of Benishigure.

Behind this relaxed personality, however, Koujaku carries overwhelming guilt and unresolved trauma connected to his family.

His route explores themes of inherited violence, abuse, shame, forgiveness, and the fear of becoming the very thing one hates.

Appearance

Koujaku is one of the tallest characters in the main cast.

He has:

Dark navy-blue hair

Crimson-red eyes

Lightly tanned skin

Broad shoulders

Muscular build

His appearance immediately stands out because he combines traditional Japanese clothing with modern fashion.

Hairstyle

Koujaku keeps his long hair tied into a low ponytail.

Several loose strands frame his face.

His hairstyle changes only slightly throughout official artwork.

Since he works professionally as a hairstylist, his own hair is carefully maintained.

Eyes

His bright red eyes are one of his defining physical features.

They contribute to his intimidating appearance despite his generally friendly demeanor.

Clothing

Koujaku's signature outfit consists of:

A bright red kimono

Decorative floral patterns

Wide obi (belt)

Black jeans underneath

Boots

This mixture of traditional and contemporary fashion reflects his personality.

He appreciates traditional Japanese culture while comfortably living in a modern cyberpunk society.

Sword

One of Koujaku's most recognizable possessions is his sword.

Many summaries describe him simply as "the guy who carries a sword."

This is misleading.

The sword is not merely a weapon.

It is deeply connected to his family history and inherited curse.

He does not casually fight everyone with it.

Instead, it symbolizes the burden he carries throughout the story.

Its significance becomes fully apparent during his route.

Tattoos

Perhaps Koujaku's most striking physical characteristic is the enormous collection of tattoos covering much of his body.

These tattoos are among the most important pieces of symbolism in his story.

Many are decorative.

One, however, is fundamentally different.

The tattoo on his back carries extraordinary significance.

It is not merely body art.

It represents a curse inherited through his family's history.

Personality

At first meeting, Koujaku appears to be:

cheerful

sociable

relaxed

flirtatious

confident

He laughs often.

Enjoys teasing others.

Frequently jokes during tense situations.

Because of this, many people initially underestimate him.

Protective Nature

Above all else, Koujaku is protective.

Especially toward Aoba.

Whenever Aoba encounters danger, Koujaku instinctively places himself between Aoba and the threat.

Sometimes this protectiveness becomes excessive.

Aoba occasionally finds Koujaku overbearing.

Nevertheless, Koujaku's concern always comes from genuine affection.

Charisma

Koujaku possesses remarkable social skills.

He quickly earns people's trust.

Customers enjoy talking with him.

Friends naturally gather around him.

His ability to lead Benishigure depends less upon fear than respect.

His members genuinely admire him.

Flirtatious Behavior

One of Koujaku's most recognizable traits is his tendency to flirt.

He frequently compliments attractive women.

Teases strangers.

Speaks confidently.

This reputation has earned him the nickname of a "ladykiller."

However, the game makes an important distinction.

Although Koujaku enjoys flirting, his behavior is generally playful rather than malicious.

He is not portrayed as someone who deliberately manipulates women.

Emotional Honesty

Ironically, someone who flirts so easily struggles enormously when expressing his genuine feelings.

Whenever conversations become emotionally serious, especially concerning Aoba, Koujaku becomes noticeably awkward.

This contrast highlights the difference between casual confidence and sincere vulnerability.

Occupation

Koujaku works professionally as a freelance hairstylist.

He does not own a permanent salon.

Instead, he visits clients directly.

His reputation is excellent.

Many residents specifically request him.

His occupation also reflects his personality.

Hairdressing allows him to help people feel confident while creating genuine personal connections.

Benishigure

Koujaku leads the Rib team Benishigure.

Unlike many street gangs, Benishigure functions almost like an extended family.

Members support one another.

Protect local neighborhoods.

Resolve disputes.

Although they participate in Rib competitions, Benishigure is not portrayed as a criminal organization.

Koujaku actively discourages unnecessary violence.

His leadership relies upon mutual respect rather than intimidation.

Relationship with Aoba

Koujaku and Aoba have known each other since childhood.

Koujaku often acted as Aoba's protector while they were growing up.

Even after becoming adults, this protective instinct never disappeared.

He worries whenever Aoba leaves home alone.

Frequently checks on him.

Attempts to shield him from danger.

Although Aoba sometimes complains about being treated like a child, he deeply values Koujaku's presence.

Throughout every route, Koujaku repeatedly risks his own life to protect Aoba.

Relationship with Tae

Koujaku greatly respects Tae Seragaki.

He often visits her home.

Enjoys her cooking.

Treats her almost like family.

Tae likewise trusts Koujaku.

She frequently welcomes him without hesitation.

Relationship with Ren

Koujaku has a surprisingly warm relationship with Ren.

Unlike some characters who view AllMates merely as machines, Koujaku naturally treats Ren as an individual.

Ren appears comfortable around him.

The two frequently exchange lighthearted conversation.

Relationship with Noiz

Noiz and Koujaku constantly argue.

Their personalities clash almost immediately.

Koujaku finds Noiz arrogant.

Noiz considers Koujaku loud and irritating.

Despite these conflicts, they cooperate whenever Aoba's safety is involved.

Their rivalry becomes one of the game's recurring sources of humor.

Relationship with Clear

Initially, Koujaku regards Clear as suspicious.

A mysterious man wearing a gas mask and calling Aoba "Master" naturally raises concerns.

However, after spending time together, Koujaku recognizes Clear's sincerity.

The two eventually develop mutual respect.

Relationship with Mink

Koujaku and Mink represent two very different leadership styles.

Koujaku leads through trust.

Mink initially leads through fear and discipline.

Because of these differences, the two frequently clash.

Nevertheless, both recognize the other's strength.

When circumstances require cooperation, they set aside personal disagreements.

Fighting Ability

Although peaceful by preference, Koujaku is an exceptionally capable fighter.

Years of Rib competition have made him physically skilled.

He demonstrates:

swordsmanship

hand-to-hand combat

athleticism

quick reflexes

He rarely seeks violence.

However, when protecting someone important to him, he becomes extremely dangerous.

Childhood

Koujaku's childhood was marked by severe emotional trauma.

Unlike Aoba's relatively peaceful upbringing, Koujaku grew up within a family burdened by a violent legacy.

The details of that legacy gradually unfold during his route.

Family

Koujaku was born into a family carrying a long-standing tradition involving tattoo artistry.

These tattoos were regarded as far more than decoration.

Within his family, tattoos symbolized inheritance, duty, and identity.

However, hidden beneath this tradition lay something far darker.

Ryuuhou

One of the central figures in Koujaku's past is Ryuuhou.

Ryuuhou is an infamous tattoo artist whose obsession with Koujaku drives much of Koujaku's route.

It is important to clarify a common misconception.

Many summaries simply state:

"Ryuuhou cursed Koujaku."

Canon is more complicated.

Ryuuhou's tattoos are tied to a hereditary phenomenon affecting Koujaku's family.

Rather than a supernatural magical curse in the fantasy sense, the story presents it as an inherited compulsion intertwined with the tattooing tradition and psychological conditioning.

The exact nature of the "curse" is intentionally ambiguous, blending folklore, family belief, and the narrative's psychological themes.

Ryuuhou exploits this legacy to exert control over Koujaku.

The Family Tragedy

One of the defining events of Koujaku's life is the death of his mother.

As a child, Koujaku became involved in a traumatic incident resulting in her death.

This event left him overwhelmed by guilt.

For years he believed that he was irredeemably tainted by the violence within his family's history.

Much of his cheerful personality developed as a coping mechanism.

Behind his smiles lies constant fear that he may one day lose control again.

Part 6

Koujaku (紅雀)

Family History, Route, Endings, Beni & Official Trivia

Koujaku's Family

One of the central conflicts of Koujaku's route is his relationship with his family.

Koujaku was born into a powerful yakuza family. His father was a gang leader, and Koujaku was considered an heir who would inherit part of that violent legacy.

His mother wanted a different life for him.

Unable to tolerate the violence surrounding the family, she fled with the young Koujaku from Midorijima in hopes of raising him somewhere safer.

For a time, they managed to escape.

Unfortunately, Koujaku's father eventually found them.

Ryuuhou

After locating Koujaku, his father ordered that he be tattooed by the tattoo artist Ryuuhou. Koujaku was only around fourteen or fifteen years old and repeatedly protested, but his wishes were ignored.

Ryuuhou was fascinated by tattooing and by Toue Corporation's experimental methods of influencing people through specially developed tattoo techniques. Treating Koujaku as a test subject rather than a child, he covered much of Koujaku's body with intricate tattoos and warned him never to lose control of his anger.

This is an important correction to many summaries online:

The tattoos are not simply a magical family curse.

They are tied to Toue's experimental human-control research and were applied by Ryuuhou as an experiment, while the story also incorporates Koujaku's family's beliefs and symbolism. The route intentionally blurs psychological trauma, experimental technology, and inherited tradition rather than presenting the tattoos as straightforward supernatural magic.

The Tragedy

Unable to endure the physical pain and psychological effects any longer, Koujaku eventually lost control.

In a berserk state, he attacked everyone around him.

During the massacre he unintentionally killed numerous people, including his own mother.

When he finally regained his senses and realized what had happened, he was devastated.

Believing himself unforgivable, Koujaku attempted to end his own life with his sword.

At the last moment, he remembered Aoba.

That memory stopped him.

Instead of taking his own life, he abandoned his old home and eventually returned to Midorijima, hoping he could at least live quietly and see Aoba again.

This tragedy shapes nearly every aspect of Koujaku's adult personality.

Why Koujaku Flirts

Koujaku's flirtatious personality is often misunderstood.

He enjoys joking with women and is known as a "ladykiller," but beneath the confidence lies a man terrified of genuine emotional intimacy.

He can effortlessly compliment strangers.

Yet when he tries to express sincere feelings to Aoba, he becomes noticeably awkward and uncertain.

His route repeatedly contrasts these two sides of his personality.

Why He Became a Hairdresser

Although never stated as a direct symbolic choice by Koujaku himself, his profession carries clear thematic weight.

As a child he associated hands with pain, violence, and tattooing.

As an adult, those same hands are used to help people.

Instead of carving permanent marks into skin, he styles hair and helps people feel happier about themselves.

It is one of the story's quieter examples of personal healing.

Koujaku Route

When Aoba follows Koujaku's route, the investigation gradually centers on a mysterious tattoo artist living within Platinum Jail.

Koujaku becomes visibly anxious whenever this man is mentioned.

Eventually the man is revealed to be Ryuuhou.

Ryuuhou immediately recognizes Koujaku and speaks to him with disturbing affection, referring to him almost like a beloved masterpiece rather than another human being. He also becomes interested in Aoba, attempting to forcefully tattoo him after drugging him.

Seeing Ryuuhou again causes years of suppressed anger and trauma to resurface.

The tattoos spread across Koujaku's body.

His personality becomes increasingly unstable.

His appearance changes dramatically.

He loses the ability to distinguish friend from enemy.

Berserk State

As the tattoos bloom, Koujaku becomes increasingly animalistic.

His kimono tears.

The black markings spread across his body.

His hair loosens and begins to redden.

His fingernails lengthen into claw-like points.

His speech deteriorates into growls and fragmented words.

His overwhelming desire is to kill Ryuuhou.

Despite this transformation, the real Koujaku still exists beneath the rage.

Mind Dive

After Ryuuhou is fatally wounded, Koujaku remains consumed by his rage and turns on Aoba.

To save him, Aoba activates Scrap and enters Koujaku's consciousness.

Inside Koujaku's mind, Aoba witnesses the memories Koujaku has carried for years:

his forced tattooing,

the massacre,

the death of his mother,

his failed attempt,

and the guilt that has defined his life.

Rather than denying what happened, Aoba tells Koujaku that he does not have to remain imprisoned by his past forever.

Good Ending

In the Good Ending, Koujaku accepts that what happened cannot be undone, but he also accepts that he does not have to let Ryuuhou continue controlling his life.

Aoba's intervention allows him to break free from the psychological hold those memories have over him.

Although his tattoos remain, they no longer define his identity.

After Toue Corporation's downfall, Koujaku chooses to continue living instead of endlessly punishing himself.

In the ending and later official material, he commits himself fully to his work as a hairdresser and openly builds a future with Aoba.

The scars remain.

The guilt does not vanish overnight.

But for the first time, Koujaku begins healing.

Bad Ending

If Aoba fails to properly guide Koujaku during the Scrap sequence, the trauma overwhelms him.

The tattoos completely consume his mind.

His appearance changes even further:

his hair becomes entirely crimson,

the lotus tattoos spread across most of his body,

his eyes lose their normal appearance,

his speech largely disappears,

and he remains in a permanent feral state.

He no longer recognizes Aoba as himself.

Instead, Aoba stays with Koujaku despite his condition, devoting himself to caring for the man who has lost nearly all traces of his humanity.

This ending is tragic not because Koujaku simply "goes insane," but because his identity is effectively consumed by years of trauma and manipulation.

Emotional Development

Koujaku's character arc is ultimately about rejecting inherited violence.

He begins the story believing that he is fundamentally broken and destined to repeat his family's sins.

By confronting his memories instead of hiding from them, he gradually realizes that the choices he makes now matter more than the past he cannot change.

Unlike many revenge stories, Koujaku's route is not resolved by killing Ryuuhou.

His true victory is refusing to let Ryuuhou continue defining who he is.

Beni

Species: Sparrow (AllMate)

Color: Bright red

Beni is Koujaku's AllMate and reflects much of his owner's lively personality.

Unlike the calm and literal Ren, Beni is energetic, outspoken, and quick to argue.

He frequently exchanges playful insults with Ren, providing comic relief during quieter scenes.

Despite his small size, Beni is loyal to Koujaku and takes his role seriously.

The name "Beni" (紅) means "crimson" or "deep red," fitting both Koujaku's theme color and the meaning of Koujaku's own name ("Crimson Sparrow").

Official Theme Songs

Koujaku has several officially associated songs:

Tears (DRAMAtical Murder, Bad Ending theme)

At Last (DRAMAtical Murder re:connect)

By My Side (Anime)

Scarlet (Drama CD)

Voice Actors

Japanese: Hiroki Takahashi

Overview

Aoba Seragaki is the protagonist of DRAMAtical Murder. At first glance, he appears to be an ordinary young man living a quiet life on Midorijima. He works at the junk shop Heibon, helps care for his grandmother, and avoids unnecessary trouble.

However, beneath this ordinary life lies a far more complicated reality.

Aoba suffers from recurring headaches, fragmented memories, unexplained blackouts, and a mysterious neurological ability called Scrap. As the story unfolds, he discovers that much of his past has been hidden from him, and that he is deeply connected to Toue Corporation's experiments.

His journey is one of self-discovery, confronting trauma, accepting every aspect of his identity, and choosing how to use the extraordinary power he possesses.

Appearance

Aoba has a slim, youthful build with pale skin and blue eyes.

His hair is one of his most recognizable features. It is a vibrant blue that gradually fades to a lighter shade toward the ends. He keeps it relatively short, with longer strands framing his face.

His hairstyle changes slightly depending on the route and ending, but his blue gradient hair remains consistent.

His most iconic accessory is his oversized pink headphones.

Although they resemble ordinary headphones, they are a constant visual trademark and have become closely associated with his character.

Default Clothing

Aoba usually wears:

White and blue hooded "Brain Nuts" jacket

Navy-blue shirt

Blue jeans

Belt with metal studs

Black fingerless glove on his right hand

Pink headphones

His clothing reflects his practical personality rather than fashion or status.

Aoba is calm, polite, patient, and remarkably level-headed.

Unlike many visual novel protagonists, he is neither passive nor excessively emotional. He generally approaches problems logically and tries to understand other people before judging them.

Several qualities define his personality.

Kindness

Aoba consistently helps people without expecting anything in return.

He assists strangers.

Looks after neighborhood children.

Supports his friends.

Cares deeply for his grandmother.

Even toward people who initially behave aggressively, Aoba usually attempts conversation before violence.

Although friendly, Aoba prefers solving problems himself.

He dislikes relying on others unnecessarily.

Aoba has a naturally inquisitive personality.

When confronted with mysteries, he investigates rather than ignores them.

This curiosity gradually uncovers the truth behind Midorijima.

Throughout the story he learns shocking truths regarding:

his birth

his memories

his brother

his identity

Ren

Toue Corporation

Despite repeated psychological trauma, he continues moving forward.

Leadership

Although Aoba never seeks authority, many characters naturally begin following him.

Koujaku

Noiz

Clear

Mink

Ren

Mizuki

Even individuals with vastly different personalities gradually place their trust in him.

Weaknesses

Despite his strengths, Aoba is far from perfect.

He frequently doubts himself.

He struggles to understand his own past.

He suppresses painful emotions rather than confronting them immediately.

He often places the well-being of others above his own safety.

Everyday Life

Before the story begins, Aoba lives a relatively ordinary routine.

Each morning he helps around the house before leaving for work at Hum-Drum Junk.

His responsibilities include:

customer service

selling refurbished electronics

organizing merchandise

assisting customers

general shop maintenance

After work he often returns home to help Tae.

His quiet daily routine forms an intentional contrast with the increasingly bizarre events that soon disrupt his life.

Relationships

Tae Seragaki

Tae is the person who raised Aoba.

Although she acts like an ordinary grandmother, their relationship is unusually close.

She cooks for him.

Scolds him when necessary.

Worries about his health.

Aoba deeply respects Tae and tries not to burden her with his problems.

As the story progresses, he discovers there are many things about Tae's past that she deliberately concealed.

Their relationship will be explored further in Tae's profile.

Ren

Ren is Aoba's AllMate.

To outside observers they appear inseparable.

Ren accompanies Aoba almost everywhere.

Their conversations often resemble those between close friends rather than owner and machine.

Ren frequently reminds Aoba to take medication, monitors his condition, and expresses concern whenever Aoba experiences headaches.

As the story progresses, it becomes clear that Ren's role extends far beyond that of an ordinary AllMate.

Koujaku

Koujaku is Aoba's childhood friend.

The two grew up together in the Old Residential District.

Although Koujaku is more outgoing, they understand one another extremely well.

Koujaku is intensely protective of Aoba.

Aoba sometimes finds this overprotectiveness embarrassing.

Despite teasing each other, their friendship remains one of the strongest relationships in the story.

Noiz

Initially, Aoba finds Noiz difficult to understand.

Noiz appears cold, emotionally detached, and frequently provocative.

However, Aoba gradually recognizes that Noiz's behavior results from years of isolation and his inability to experience pain normally.

Their friendship develops through mutual understanding rather than immediate trust.

Clear

Aoba first encounters Clear under highly unusual circumstances.

Despite Clear's eccentric behavior, Aoba never treats him cruelly.

Instead, he attempts to understand him.

This kindness becomes one of the reasons Clear grows deeply attached to Aoba.

Mink

Mink initially treats Aoba harshly.

Their relationship begins with hostility.

Over time, Aoba realizes that Mink's cruelty masks profound emotional wounds and an obsession with revenge.

Aoba eventually challenges Mink's self-destructive worldview.

Skills

Aoba possesses several practical skills.

Cooking

He is capable of preparing everyday meals.

Official supplementary materials note that he gradually became a better cook through practice.

Several characters compliment his cooking.

Electronics

Working at Hum-Drum Junk has given Aoba experience repairing and identifying older electronic devices.

Although not an engineer, he understands basic maintenance and troubleshooting.

Observation

Aoba frequently notices details other characters overlook.

This ability helps him investigate many of the game's mysteries.

Hobbies

Official materials mention several interests.

These include:

listening to music

repairing electronics

spending time with Ren

helping Tae

quiet walks around Midorijima

Unlike some other characters, Aoba has relatively modest hobbies.

Likes

Officially confirmed likes include:

peaceful daily life

cooking

spending time with friends

Ren

helping Tae

Dislikes

Officially confirmed dislikes include:

milk

unnecessary conflict

seeing people suffer

being treated as a child

Health

Throughout the game Aoba experiences severe headaches.

These headaches are not ordinary migraines.

They are connected to multiple factors, including:

neurological instability

suppressed memories

activation of Scrap

events connected to Ren

Toue Corporation's experiments

As memories return, the headaches become increasingly severe.

The Alias "Sly Blue"

One of the greatest mysteries surrounding Aoba is his forgotten identity as Sly Blue.

Before the beginning of the game, Aoba was an extraordinarily skilled Rhyme player.

Under the name "Sly Blue," he became something of a legend within underground Rhyme circles.

His matches attracted attention because of both his skill and the terrifying effects experienced by certain opponents.

Unknown even to Aoba himself at the beginning of the story, he occasionally activated Scrap during battles.

Rather than simply defeating opponents, Scrap could invade and damage their consciousness.

As a result, Sly Blue gradually earned a reputation that mixed admiration with fear.

Following traumatic events connected to his past, Aoba lost much of his memory.

His former identity disappeared almost completely from his conscious mind.

When other experienced Rhyme players recognize him, Aoba himself has no idea why.

Recovering the truth behind Sly Blue becomes one of the central threads running throughout the visual novel.

Aoba Seragaki (瀬良垣 蒼葉)

Complete Biography, Origins, Scrap & The Other Aoba

Early Life

Much of Aoba's childhood is deliberately hidden at the beginning of DRAMAtical Murder. The player experiences the story from Aoba's perspective, meaning that his memory loss also limits what the player knows.

Although Aoba believes he grew up as an ordinary child under the care of his grandmother, this is only partially true.

Fragments of his forgotten past gradually return throughout the game, revealing that his life has been shaped by events long before he could understand them.

Birth

One of the biggest misconceptions repeated online is that Aoba and Sei were "artificial humans" or "synthetic humans."

This is not how the original visual novel describes them.

The canon explanation is more nuanced.

Aoba and Sei are biological human twins who became the subjects of Toue Corporation's research due to their extraordinary neurological characteristics.

Official materials describe them as products of Toue's experimentation and research, but they are not androids, clones, or artificially manufactured lifeforms.

They were born as human beings.

However, their unusual neurological potential immediately attracted Toue's attention.

Sei

Aoba has an identical twin brother named Sei.

Although physically similar, the brothers developed very different personalities due to the vastly different lives they experienced.

Where Aoba grew up surrounded by ordinary people and genuine affection,

Sei spent nearly his entire life imprisoned inside Toue Corporation's research facilities.

This difference becomes one of the emotional foundations of the story.

Separation

Shortly after birth, the twins were separated.

Aoba was removed from Toue's direct control.

Sei remained within the laboratory.

As children they never had the opportunity to grow up together.

Instead, their lives unfolded in completely opposite environments.

Tae Seragaki

Tae eventually became Aoba's guardian.

Ca firms that Tae possesses knowledge far beyond that of an ordinary grandmother.

She understands:

Scrap

Toue Corporation

neurological medicine

Aoba's condition

However, throughout most of Aoba's childhood she deliberately avoids explaining these matters.

Rather than deceiving him out of malice, Tae hopes to allow Aoba the chance to experience an ordinary life.

Childhood

Aoba grew up in the Old Residential District.

Compared to many of the game's other characters, his childhood appears peaceful on the surface.

He attended school.

Made friends.

Played with neighborhood children.

Worked part-time.

Eventually obtained employment at Hum-Drum Junk.

However, several unusual events occurred throughout his youth.

Headaches

From an early age, Aoba experienced severe headaches.

These attacks varied in intensity.

Sometimes they lasted only minutes.

Other times they became debilitating.

Neither Aoba nor those around him fully understood their cause.

The headaches gradually became more frequent as buried memories began resurfacing.

Strange Dreams

Aoba occasionally experienced dreams that seemed unusually vivid.

Some involved unfamiliar places.

Others featured mysterious individuals.

Still others contained memories he could not consciously recognize.

These dreams serve as one of the earliest indications that Aoba's memories are incomplete.

Missing Memories

One of Aoba's defining characteristics is his fragmented memory.

He remembers ordinary aspects of his childhood.

However, numerous significant events have disappeared almost entirely from his conscious recollection.

Rather than simple amnesia, these missing memories are connected to both trauma and the unusual nature of Scrap.

Sly Blue

Before the events of the game, Aoba became one of Midorijima's most accomplished Rhyme players.

Using the alias Sly Blue, he rapidly gained recognition within underground Rhyme circles.

His precise ranking is never officially stated.

However, dialogue throughout the visual novel makes it clear that experienced players recognize the name immediately.

Sly Blue became famous not merely because he won.

He became feared.

Why Sly Blue Became Famous

During certain matches, opponents suffered psychological damage extending beyond ordinary defeat.

Some experienced:

confusion

memory disturbances

emotional collapse

Unknown to both Aoba and his opponents, Scrap occasionally activated unconsciously.

Rather than simply defeating another player inside Rhyme, Scrap could directly interfere with the opponent's consciousness.

Because no one understood exactly what was happening, rumors surrounding Sly Blue spread rapidly.

Eventually his sudden disappearance only increased his legendary status.

Scrap

Scrap is one of the most misunderstood concepts in the series.

It is not:

hypnosis

magic

telepathy

hacking

computer software

Instead, Scrap is a unique neurological phenomenon.

Individuals possessing Scrap can forcibly interfere with another person's consciousness.

The exact manifestation differs depending upon the individual.

Aoba's Scrap

Aoba's Scrap primarily manifests through his voice.

This does not mean every sentence Aoba speaks activates Scrap.

Nor does simply hearing him automatically trigger mind control.

Instead, Scrap requires particular psychological circumstances.

When activated, Aoba's voice becomes capable of reaching directly into another person's consciousness.

Effects vary depending on:

Aoba's emotional state

the target's mental condition

the intensity of activation

Possible outcomes include:

restoring suppressed memories

entering another person's mind

removing psychological barriers

damaging consciousness

rewriting perception

Improper use can permanently destroy a person's mind.

This destructive potential becomes one of the greatest dangers within the story.

Sei's Scrap

Although both twins possess Scrap, Sei's manifestation differs.

Rather than voice,

Sei's Scrap primarily functions through eye contact.

Looking into another person's eyes allows him to project his consciousness into theirs under appropriate circumstances.

Because of this difference, Sei spent years being exploited by Toue Corporation.

Are They Two Halves of Scrap?

This is another common misconception.

Many summaries state:

"Sei has half the power and Aoba has the other half."

The original visual novel presents the situation differently.

Both brothers possess Scrap.

Their abilities simply manifest differently.

Neither possesses merely "half."

Instead, their neurological abilities complement one another.

The Other Aoba

Perhaps the most misunderstood aspect of the series concerns the Other Aoba.

Many fan summaries reduce him to:

"Aoba's evil personality."

This description is inaccurate.

What Is the Other Aoba?

The Other Aoba is a separate personality existing within Aoba's fractured psyche.

He represents destructive impulses connected to Scrap and Aoba's suppressed trauma.

He is not an independent supernatural being.

He is not a demon.

He is not another person living inside Aoba.

Rather, he is a dissociated aspect of Aoba's own mind.

Personality

The Other Aoba is calm.

Confident.

Cruel.

Playful.

He speaks with certainty.

Unlike ordinary Aoba, he enjoys demonstrating power over others.

He frequently mocks hesitation.

He shows little concern for morality.

Importantly, the game never officially labels him as "masochistic."

While he occasionally expresses unusual attitudes toward pain and destruction, official materials more consistently portray him as:

destructive

sadistic

instinct-driven

uninhibited

Reducing him solely to "masochistic" oversimplifies his characterization.

Why Does He Exist?

The exact psychological mechanism remains intentionally ambiguous.

However, the visual novel strongly suggests that years of trauma, neurological instability, suppressed memories, and Scrap all contributed to the fragmentation of Aoba's identity.

Rather than confronting unbearable experiences consciously,

Aoba's mind divided aspects of itself.

One of those aspects became the Other Aoba.

Relationship Between Aoba and the Other Aoba

The Other Aoba frequently criticizes Aoba for denying his true nature.

Meanwhile Aoba fears losing himself completely.

Their conflict symbolizes Aoba's struggle between compassion and destructive power.

Importantly, the visual novel does not argue that one personality should destroy the other.

Instead, the story gradually moves toward accepting every part of oneself rather than endlessly suppressing painful truths.

This becomes especially significant in the True Route.

Ren's Role

Another widespread misconception is:

"Ren seals the Other Aoba."

This is only partially correct.

Ren certainly helps stabilize Aoba's mind.

However, Ren is not simply a magical lock keeping another personality imprisoned.

The relationship between Ren, Aoba, Sei, and the Other Aoba is far more complicated.

Explaining it fully requires discussing the revelations of Ren's route.

To avoid presenting information out of order, that complete explanation will be reserved until the encyclopedia reaches Ren's profile and the True Route.

Aoba's Greatest Strength

Although Aoba possesses one of the most dangerous abilities in the story, his greatest strength is not Scrap.

It is empathy.

Again and again, Aoba succeeds where others fail because he genuinely tries to understand people rather than dominate them.

Whether confronting Koujaku's guilt, Noiz's isolation, Clear's identity, Mink's obsession with revenge, or Sei's despair, Aoba's willingness to listen becomes the foundation of every Good Ending.

His power alone cannot save people.

His choices determine whether Scrap becomes a weapon of destruction or a means of helping others confront their own hearts.)

In DRAMAtical Murder (DMMd), Sly Blue is the delinquent Rhyme pseudonym of the protagonist, Aoba Seragaki. Operating under this name, Aoba utilized his mind-altering ability, "Scrap," to violently break opponents' minds during street battles before eventually suppressing this aggressive personality. The Origin of Sly BlueStreet Fighting: Long before the events of the main game, Aoba was a violent and feared Rhyme competitor known as Sly Blue. The "Scrap" Ability: Sly Blue specialized in invading and destroying his opponents' minds using Scrap, which caused irreversible psychological trauma.True Form vs. Suppressed Personality: The violent and destructive nature of Sly Blue is technically Aoba's true personality. He developed it to deal with what the antagonist Toue instilled in him, later hiding it away to become the gentle, easygoing Aoba the player knows.

Appearance

When Aoba taps into his Sly Blue persona, his signature light blue hair and light hazel eyes shift into a distinctly different golden color.

appearance:

Hair: His hair color turns into a striking shade of dark blue.

Attire: He typically wears a dark black hoodie with orange accents, gray headphones outfit rather than his standard everyday wear.

Where He Appears in Common Route & Bad Endings: You first hear about his past early in the game. However, his persona fully surfaces during specific intense plot points and dark endings where Aoba loses control to his destructive urges.

Expanded Universe: The persona remains a major point of fascination in the fandom, often explored in cosplay, fan art, and expanded game versions.

Sly Blue (officially known in-game as Desire or "the other Aoba") is the manifestation of Aoba Seragaki's suppressed consciousness, destructive urges, and his inner power of Scrap. To make the lore completely accurate to the DRAMAtical Murder visual novels, here is the exact breakdown of who he is, how Aoba's mind split, and how he acts across the official routes. The Truth Behind the IdentityThe Name: "Sly Blue" was simply Aoba's old username/pseudonym when he was a legendary, undefeated player in the cyber-game Rhyme years before the story begins. The Mind Split: Aoba's consciousness is divided into three distinct parts to protect himself from trauma: Aoba (the Ego/the daily self), Ren (the Sanity/Reason, who lived inside the AllMate dog), and Desire (the Id/Sly Blue, who embodies Aoba's raw power). The Suppressive Medicine: Aoba's daily severe headaches are caused by this violent personality trying to break free. The daily medicine given to him by his grandmother, Tae, is meant to chemically suppress Sly Blue.Visual and Behavioral DifferencesUnlike popular fan interpretations where he is drawn with dark blue hair, in the original game canon, Sly Blue looks exactly like Aoba physically because they share the same body. However, his behavior shifts completely:The Voice: When Sly Blue speaks, his tone becomes lower, highly sadistic, mocking, and deeply unhinged. The Screen Color: In the visual novel, when this personality takes control, the game's text box or screen overlay often changes to a stark white, earning him the fan nickname "Shiroba".The Personality: He is highly chaotic, aggressive, and masochistic. He holds immense resentment toward Aoba for locking him away and forcing him to be silent for years.Exact Route OccurrencesKoujaku's Bad Ending: Sly Blue fully takes over Aoba's mind here. He embraces the dark modifications Toue puts him through, completely shattering Aoba's original personality.Mink's Route: He surfaces during intense moments of physical trauma when Aoba is pushed to his absolute mental limit. The True Route (Ren's Route): This is the core lore culmination. Aoba must stop fighting Sly Blue and instead acknowledge and accept him as a true part of his own soul to heal and achieve a happy ending.Re:Code & Reconnect (Expanded Media): In the PlayStation Vita port DRAMAtical Murder Re:Code, he gets a dedicated route with Mizuki. In the fan-disk DMMd Reconnect, he acts as the direct point-of-view protagonist during Mink's extended bad ending.

Haga san: Appearance Features: He has a bald head, dark eyes, and small, rectangular black frame glasses.Clothing: He usually dresses in a simple blue shop overalls uniform with a white undershirt and wears a baseball cap.

PersonalityKind and Caring: He acts as a supportive and understanding boss who looks out for Aoba.Tech-Savvy: He knows a lot about electronics and gadgets, even giving Aoba a modified stun gun for self-defense.

Short-Tempered: While usually very polite and gentle, he gets incredibly angry and intimidating if anyone calls him "baldy". Often teased by kids, has a allmate named junker or boujin kun a small robot that usually says gibberish or assists with small tasks. Usually in heibon junk shop.

Clear:Appearance: An android with snow-white hair, pink eyes, and two small moles on his chin. He wears a white trench coat, a yellow scarf, and is almost always seen with a gas mask and a clear umbrella. Personality: Extremely polite, formal, and cheerful. He is childlike and eccentric, often struggling with basic common sense but showing deep emotional dedication to Aoba

Enthusiastic, childish, and really polite, kind.

Clear (クリア)

Basic Information

Name: Clear (クリア)

Serial Number: R-2E-054

Unlike the human cast, “Clear” is not his birth name. It is the name he chooses for himself after gaining individuality.

General Information

Type: Alpha (α) Android

Gender: Male

Birthday: February 20

Zodiac: Pisces

Height: 180 cm (5’11”)

Occupation:

Former Alpha Unit

Later bartender at Black Needle (re:connect)

Residence: Old Residential District

Associated Color: White

AllMate: None

Unlike the other love interests, Clear is not partnered with an AllMate because he himself is an advanced artificial intelligence.

Overview

At first glance, Clear appears to be the strangest person Aoba has ever met.

He suddenly falls from the sky.

Calls Aoba “Master.”

Wears a gas mask constantly.

Carries a transparent umbrella regardless of the weather.

Sings an odd lullaby about jellyfish.

Speaks with almost childlike innocence.

Many characters initially dismiss him as simply eccentric.

However, Clear’s route gradually reveals one of the most tragic stories in the game.

Rather than being human, Clear is an abandoned military-grade android who slowly learns what it truly means to have free will, love another person, and define his own existence.

His story explores:

Identity

Humanity

Free will

Grief

Self-worth

Unconditional love

Appearance

Clear is immediately recognizable.

He has:

Snow-white hair

Soft pink eyes

Pale skin

Slim build

His appearance is intentionally gentle and non-threatening.

Clothing

His usual outfit consists of:

White trench coat

White shirt exposing part of his abdomen

Yellow scarf

Gray pants

White boots

His wardrobe reinforces the clean, almost angelic imagery surrounding him.

Gas Mask

The most recognizable part of Clear’s design is his gas mask.

Many new players assume it protects others from him.

The truth is exactly the opposite.

Clear believes people will hate his face.

His grandfather told him never to remove the mask in front of others.

Because Clear completely trusted him, he obeyed that instruction for years.

He sincerely believes showing his face would cause everyone to reject him.

This fear becomes one of the central emotional conflicts of his route.

Transparent Umbrella

Clear almost always carries a clear plastic umbrella.

Unlike ordinary umbrellas, it allows him to continue looking at the sky while walking.

Official materials never assign a deeper explicit meaning, but visually it reinforces his transparent, innocent personality.

Face

When Clear finally removes his mask...

Aoba discovers something unexpected.

There is nothing frightening beneath it.

Clear is actually exceptionally handsome.

He has:

Gentle facial features

Pink eyes

Two small beauty marks near his chin

The tragedy is that years of psychological conditioning convinced him otherwise.

Personality

Clear is perhaps the kindest character in the game.

He is:

Cheerful

Optimistic

Polite

Curious

Innocent

Unlike Noiz’s emotional restraint...

Or Mink’s emotional walls...

Clear openly expresses affection.

Childlike Nature

Because he spent much of his existence isolated from society...

Clear lacks everyday knowledge.

Simple human customs confuse him.

He often asks innocent questions.

Sometimes he misunderstands ordinary conversations.

These moments provide humor without portraying him as unintelligent.

Rather...

He is learning how humans live.

Politeness

Clear almost always speaks respectfully.

He consistently addresses people with proper honorifics.

Even hostile individuals receive kindness from him.

Calling Aoba “Master”

Perhaps his most famous habit.

From their very first meeting...

Clear insists on calling Aoba:

 “Master.”

This initially embarrasses Aoba.

The reason becomes clear much later.

As an Alpha unit...

Clear was designed to obey a designated human.

After gaining independence...

He voluntarily chooses Aoba as the person he wishes to protect.

Unlike his original programming...

This decision comes entirely from his own heart.

Physical Strength

Despite appearing gentle...

Clear possesses enormous physical strength.

He can:

Lift heavy debris

Overpower multiple opponents

Survive injuries that would kill humans

These abilities stem from his artificial construction.

True Nature

One of the largest revelations in the route...

Clear is not human.

He is an Alpha Unit android created by Toue Corporation.

Alpha Units were advanced humanoid robots designed for dangerous missions and absolute obedience.

Unlike ordinary robots...

They possessed extremely advanced artificial intelligence.

Grandpa

After being discarded by Toue...

Clear was discovered by an elderly man.

Clear simply calls him:

Grandpa

Grandpa had once worked for Toue Corporation.

Unlike the scientists who viewed Alpha Units as disposable machines...

Grandpa treated Clear like a grandson.

He taught him:

Kindness

Compassion

Cooking

Reading

Basic morality

Most importantly...

He taught Clear that every life has value.

Why Grandpa Told Him to Wear the Mask

This point is frequently misunderstood.

Grandpa did not tell Clear to wear the gas mask because his face was ugly.

Rather, he feared that if people realized Clear was an android, they would reject or exploit him.

Unfortunately...

Grandpa’s warning became distorted in Clear’s mind.

After Grandpa died...

Clear genuinely believed:

 “People will hate my face.”

This misunderstanding shaped his entire identity.

Grandpa’s Death

Eventually Grandpa passed away due to old age.

Clear was left completely alone.

Without anyone else in the world...

He wandered Midorijima searching for purpose.

This search ultimately led him to Aoba.

Jellyfish Song

One of Clear’s defining traits is his habit of singing the Jellyfish Song.

At first...

It appears to be nothing more than a silly tune.

Later the player learns something remarkable.

The song actually counteracts Dye Music.

Dye Music

Dye Music is an audio frequency developed by Toue Corporation.

It manipulates the human brain.

Used together with Morphine...

It becomes a powerful brainwashing tool.

Clear’s Jellyfish Song naturally interferes with these frequencies.

As a result...

His singing protects people from psychological manipulation.

This makes Clear uniquely valuable to Toue.

Relationship with Aoba

From the moment they meet...

Clear devotes himself completely to Aoba.

However...

His feelings gradually change.

Initially...

Aoba is simply “Master.”

As Clear experiences more ordinary life...

Those feelings slowly become genuine romantic love.

Unlike some routes...

Their relationship develops through quiet daily moments.

Cooking together.

Walking together.

Talking.

Learning.

These peaceful interactions become the emotional core of Clear’s story.

Relationship with Ren

Clear quickly befriends Ren.

Unlike many humans...

He immediately recognizes Ren as a conscious individual.

Because both exist somewhere between machine and person...

They understand one another surprisingly well.

Relationship with Koujaku

Koujaku initially distrusts Clear.

A mysterious masked man constantly following Aoba naturally raises suspicion.

However...

After witnessing Clear repeatedly risk his life protecting Aoba...

Koujaku accepts him.

Relationship with Noiz

Noiz finds Clear fascinating.

As someone deeply interested in artificial intelligence...

Noiz quickly realizes Clear is unlike ordinary machines.

Although Noiz often acts sarcastically...

He quietly respects Clear’s individuality.

Relationship with Mink

Mink initially dismisses Clear as strange.

However...

He also recognizes Clear’s unwavering loyalty.

The two eventually cooperate effectively during dangerous situations.

Symbolism

Clear represents a question repeated throughout the game:

 What makes someone human?

Is humanity determined by:

Biology?

Emotion?

Memory?

Choice?

Although built as a machine...

Clear repeatedly demonstrates greater compassion than many humans.

His story argues that humanity comes from one’s choices rather than one’s origin.

DRAMAtical Murder Complete Canon Encyclopedia Part 10 Clear (クリア) Complete Story Route, Alpha Units, Endings, Re:connect & Official Information

Beginning of Clear's Route Clear's route begins when Aoba chooses to spend more time with the mysterious masked man who repeatedly appears to help him. Unlike the other romance routes, Clear's story starts peacefully. Rather than investigating gangs or hackers, Aoba slowly gets to know Clear through ordinary daily life. They: • walk around Midorijima, • shop together, • cook together, • talk about Grandpa, • spend quiet evenings together. These scenes intentionally contrast with the darker revelations that follow.

Clear's Innocence Throughout the route, Aoba notices that Clear experiences wonder at things most people consider ordinary. Simple events fascinate him: • eating homemade meals, • watching clouds, • helping strangers, • talking with children. Because Grandpa raised him with kindness instead of treating him as a machine, Clear developed genuine empathy rather than merely simulating it. Unlike the Alpha Units that remained under Toue's control, Clear acts according to his own conscience.

The Truth About Alpha Units Eventually, Aoba learns that Clear belongs to a series of advanced humanoid androids known as Alpha Units. These androids were created by Toue Corporation. Their intended purposes included: • military operations, • dangerous rescue work, • bodyguard duties, • law enforcement, • high-risk missions requiring superhuman strength. Unlike ordinary robots, Alpha Units possessed extremely advanced artificial intelligence. As development continued, some units unexpectedly began demonstrating independent thought and emotional behavior. To Toue Corporation, this was considered a flaw. Machines were never supposed to develop free will.

Why Clear Was Discarded Clear was judged defective because he displayed individuality. Rather than destroying him outright, Toue discarded him. He was abandoned like broken equipment. This is when Grandpa found him. Instead of seeing a machine... Grandpa saw a lonely child.

Grandpa's Lessons Grandpa spent years teaching Clear about humanity. He explained concepts such as: • kindness, • honesty, • forgiveness, • compassion, • responsibility. Because Clear learned these ideas instead of military obedience, he gradually became emotionally indistinguishable from a human. Grandpa also gave Clear his name. Rather than remaining an experimental serial number... R-2E-054 became "Clear." The name symbolizes a fresh beginning and a life no longer defined by Toue.

Grandpa's Final Wish Before his death, Grandpa gave Clear one final instruction. He told him to continue living. He also warned him never to remove his gas mask in front of others. Grandpa feared that people would discover Clear was an android and attempt to capture or destroy him. Clear misunderstood this advice. Instead of believing people would hate him because he was artificial... he concluded they would simply hate his face. This misunderstanding became one of the deepest emotional wounds in his life.

Toue Finds Clear Eventually, Toue Corporation discovers that the discarded Alpha Unit is still functioning. Rather than destroying him immediately... they reactivate parts of his original programming. Clear begins receiving subconscious commands. These commands conflict directly with the personality Grandpa helped him develop.

The Order The most devastating command given to Clear is simple: Kill Aoba. This command exists because Aoba's Scrap ability threatens Toue's plans. For the first time since meeting Grandpa... Clear faces a command he cannot emotionally accept.

Internal Conflict Unlike ordinary robots, Clear is capable of genuine internal conflict. His programming tells him: Eliminate the target. His heart tells him: Protect Aoba. This contradiction causes increasing instability. He experiences: • confusion, • emotional pain, • self-hatred, • fear of hurting Aoba. He desperately distances himself from Aoba because he believes remaining close will eventually force him to obey.

The Gas Mask As Clear's mental state deteriorates, the gas mask becomes symbolic. Originally it represented fear. Now it also hides shame. Clear believes he has become dangerous. He no longer feels worthy of standing beside Aoba.

Dye Music During the climax of the route, Toue intensifies its use of Dye Music. These sound frequencies manipulate human consciousness. Because Clear's Jellyfish Song naturally interferes with Dye Music, he becomes a serious obstacle to Toue's control over Midorijima. His singing repeatedly protects Aoba and others from complete psychological domination.

The Final Battle Eventually, Clear's programming reaches its breaking point. His body attempts to obey Toue's command. Despite overwhelming internal resistance, he attacks Aoba. The struggle is heartbreaking because Clear remains conscious throughout much of it. He repeatedly begs Aoba to run away. He knows exactly what he is doing but cannot fully stop himself.

Scrap Dive To save Clear, Aoba activates Scrap and enters Clear's consciousness. Inside his mind, Aoba witnesses memories stretching back to Clear's creation: • the laboratory, • his abandonment, • meeting Grandpa, • learning kindness, • Grandpa's death, • meeting Aoba. Aoba reminds Clear that he is no longer merely R-2E-054. He is Clear. A person capable of making his own choices.

Rejecting His Programming The central emotional victory of Clear's route is not destroying Toue. It is Clear rejecting the command that has defined his existence. For the first time, he chooses his own will over his programming. He refuses to kill Aoba. In doing so, he fully becomes his own person.

Good Ending During the final confrontation, Clear protects Aoba at great cost. His artificial body suffers catastrophic damage. Much of his frame is destroyed beyond repair. However, his central memory system survives. After Toue's defeat, Noiz and other allies recover Clear's remaining data core. Years later, engineers successfully construct a new artificial body. Clear awakens once again. Although his appearance is slightly different, his memories and personality remain intact. He reunites with Aoba, and the two begin a peaceful life together. In DRAMAtical Murder re:connect, Clear continues learning ordinary human life, eventually working as a bartender at Black Needle while living happily with Aoba.

Bad Ending If Aoba fails during the critical Scrap sequence, Clear never overcomes his programming. His emotions disappear almost completely. He becomes an obedient machine once again. Although he continues referring to Aoba as "Master," the word no longer carries affection. Instead, it reflects absolute obedience. Clear confines Aoba and devotes himself to mechanically caring for him forever. Aoba survives physically but loses much of his independence, trapped in a life where the person who once loved him has become an emotionless shell. The horror of this ending lies not in physical violence but in the complete erasure of Clear's humanity.

Emotional Development Clear begins the story believing he exists only to serve. Grandpa teaches him he can choose kindness. Aoba teaches him he can choose love. By the end of the Good Ending, Clear no longer asks what he was built to do. Instead, he decides what kind of person he wants to become. His arc is one of the clearest affirmations in DRAMAtical Murder that identity is shaped by choices, not origins.

Official Theme Songs Clear's official character songs include: • Immer Sie (DRAMAtical Murder) • Crystalline (DRAMAtical Murder re:connect) • Lullaby Blue (Anime) • Voyage Lucid (Drama CD) The "Jellyfish Song" is an in-story melody sung by Clear and is separate from his character themes.

Voice Actors Japanese: Masatomo Nakazawa English: Greg Ayres Masatomo Nakazawa famously improvised Clear's muffled voice while wearing the gas mask by speaking through a modified plastic cup during recording sessions.

Official Trivia • Clear's serial number is R-2E-054. • He is one of the few Alpha Units known to develop complete free will. • He almost always carries a transparent umbrella, even on sunny days. • He loves Aoba's homemade cooking. • He habitually watches Aoba while he sleeps because he fears losing him the way he lost Grandpa. • Despite his immense physical strength, Clear prefers never to use violence unless someone he loves is threatened. • His "Master" habit comes from his original operating parameters, but over time it becomes an affectionate personal choice rather than a command. • His route directly explores whether artificial intelligence can possess genuine emotions, concluding that Clear's love and compassion are real rather than simulated.

Ren (蓮) Complete Biography, True Identity, Fragmented Consciousness & The Truth Behind Aoba

Basic Information Name: Ren (蓮) Meaning of Name: Lotus The name "Ren" (蓮) literally means lotus, a flower that traditionally symbolizes purity, rebirth, and perseverance despite growing from muddy water. The symbolism reflects Ren's role as the emotional anchor keeping Aoba's mind intact.

General Information Species (Beginning): AllMate Species (True Nature): Artificial Intelligence born from Aoba's consciousness Later Body: Human body (Sei's body) Partner: Aoba Seragaki Height (Human Form): Approximately 176 cm initially

He avoids emotional outbursts. Even when Aoba becomes frustrated, Ren usually responds with quiet reasoning.

Loyalty Ren's loyalty to Aoba is absolute. Everything he does serves one purpose: Protect Aoba. This includes protecting him not only from external danger, but also from himself.

The First Mystery Throughout the common route, several odd details surround Ren. For example: • He sometimes knows information Aoba never told him. • He reacts strangely whenever Scrap activates. • He becomes visibly distressed during Aoba's severe headaches. • He occasionally disappears without explanation. • Virus and Trip show unusual interest in him. These clues foreshadow that Ren is far more than an ordinary AI companion.

Relationship with Aoba Ren loves Aoba deeply. However, unlike the romance routes, this love begins as something beyond friendship or romance. It is the bond between two parts of the same existence that gradually become separate individuals. Ren constantly struggles with conflicting desires. He wants Aoba to become whole again. At the same time... he fears that becoming whole may erase his own existence. This quiet fear is one of the saddest aspects of his character.

Relationship with Tae Ren deeply respects Tae. She raised Aoba with genuine love and always cared for Ren as well. Although she never fully explains everything she knows, Ren trusts her completely.

Relationship with Koujaku Koujaku adores Ren. He frequently pets him and carries him around. Ren tolerates this with patient resignation. Among the group, Koujaku is one of the few people Ren openly enjoys spending time with.

Relationship with Noiz Because of Noiz's technical expertise, Ren occasionally relies on him for maintenance and repairs. Noiz understands Ren's architecture better than almost anyone else. Their interactions are practical but respectful.

Relationship with Clear Clear immediately recognizes Ren as something more than a commercial AllMate. As two beings who exist between artificial intelligence and humanity, they naturally understand one another. Their conversations often explore identity and purpose.

Overview

Among the five romance routes, Mink initially appears to be the most frightening.

He is physically intimidating.

Rarely smiles.

Speaks very little.

Shows almost no visible emotion.

Treats people with blunt indifference.

Unlike Koujaku or Noiz, Mink never tries to appear friendly.

Many characters fear him before they ever meet him.

Yet beneath this cold exterior lies one of the series’ most deeply traumatized individuals.

His story revolves around:

Grief

Revenge

Survivor’s guilt

Cultural identity

Accepting love

Learning to live again

Appearance

Mink is the tallest of the main romance characters.

His physique reflects years of physical hardship rather than athletic training.

He has:

Broad shoulders

Muscular build

Dark complexion

Strong facial features

Gold eyes

To hide his identity, he usually wears colored contact lenses.

Hair

In the original DRAMAtical Murder, Mink wears long dreadlocks.

In re:connect, he changes to a single long braid.

His natural hair transitions from dark brown near the roots to reddish-brown toward the ends.

Clothing

Mink’s clothing combines practical military gear with traditional tribal influences.

His outfit includes:

Layered leather clothing

Belts

Heavy boots

Bracelets

Neck restraints

Iron shackles

The shackles are remnants of his imprisonment and also symbolize the emotional chains he continues to carry long after escaping.

Pipe

Mink is frequently seen smoking a long pipe.

It is one of his most recognizable visual traits.

He often smokes while quietly observing others rather than speaking.

Native Heritage

Official materials describe Mink as having Native American ancestry.

His homeland existed as a traditional tribal community that preserved many ancestral customs despite the modern world.

Their society emphasized:

Family

Community

Spiritual traditions

Craftsmanship

Respect for nature

Mink inherited many of these values before tragedy destroyed nearly everything he knew.

Occupation

Officially, Mink’s occupation is listed as:

Traditional Craftsman

Although the games do not extensively show this work, it reflects his cultural upbringing and knowledge of traditional handmade crafts.

Personality

At first, Mink seems almost emotionless.

He rarely raises his voice.

Rarely smiles.

Rarely explains himself.

However, this emotional distance is not his natural personality.

It is something he deliberately built after experiencing devastating loss.

Reserved Nature

Unlike Koujaku’s outgoing charisma...

Or Clear’s endless enthusiasm...

Mink prefers silence.

He believes unnecessary conversation wastes energy.

When he does speak, every sentence is direct.

He dislikes exaggeration and empty promises.

Leadership

Despite his intimidating demeanor, Scratch follows Mink with complete loyalty.

This loyalty isn’t based solely on fear.

Many members respect him because he consistently protects those under his command.

He never asks others to do something he wouldn’t do himself.

Emotional Control

Throughout most of the game, Mink suppresses nearly every visible emotion.

Anger.

Sadness.

Affection.

Fear.

Hope.

He convinces himself these feelings only make people vulnerable.

This repression becomes one of the central conflicts of his route.

Scratch

Scratch is one of Midorijima’s most feared organizations.

Unlike the Rib teams, Scratch is not a recreational gang.

Its members are mostly:

Former prisoners

Fugitives

People with criminal records

Individuals rejected by society

Many members owe their freedom or survival to Mink.

Because of this, they remain fiercely loyal to him.

Scratch’s Goal

Scratch does not exist to conquer territory.

Instead, its primary purpose is assisting Mink’s investigation into Toue Corporation.

Every operation ultimately serves his quest for revenge.

Tori

Mink’s AllMate is Tori.

Tori takes the appearance of a large pink cockatoo.

Unlike many humorous AllMates, Tori is calm and highly intelligent.

He speaks formally and often acts as Mink’s advisor.

Tori reflects Mink’s personality:

Composed

Observant

Disciplined

He rarely wastes words.

Relationship with Tori

Although Mink seldom openly expresses affection, he deeply values Tori.

Their partnership is built on mutual trust.

Tori frequently understands Mink’s thoughts without needing lengthy conversations.

Childhood

Mink spent his childhood within his tribal homeland.

Unlike Midorijima’s urban environment, his community lived closely with nature.

He enjoyed:

Hunting

Traditional ceremonies

Family gatherings

Tribal festivals

For a time, his life was peaceful.

Family

Mink lived alongside:

His parents

His younger sister

Extended tribal relatives

Official materials also mention that he had an arranged fiancée selected according to tribal custom.

Although they had not yet developed a romantic relationship, he respected her greatly.

The Tragedy

Everything changed when Toue Corporation targeted his homeland.

Seeking experimental subjects and resources, Toue attacked the village.

The assault destroyed nearly the entire community.

Many people were killed.

Others disappeared forever.

Among the victims were:

Mink’s family

His younger sister

His fiancée

Countless friends

The massacre shattered his entire worldview.

Imprisonment

Following the destruction of his homeland, Mink himself was captured.

He spent years imprisoned.

During this period he endured severe and psychological trauma.

These experiences explain his calm tolerance for pain throughout the game.

Escape

Eventually Mink escaped captivity.

However...

Freedom brought him no peace.

Everything he loved had already been taken from him.

Rather than rebuilding his life...

He dedicated every remaining moment to revenge.

The Birth of Scratch

After escaping, Mink gradually gathered other outcasts around him.

Former prisoners recognized his strength.

Together they formed Scratch.

Unlike ordinary gangs, Scratch operated almost like a military unit.

Every member understood the risks involved.

Many willingly followed Mink into dangerous missions because they believed they had nothing left to lose.

Revenge Against Toue

Mink’s only purpose became destroying Toue Corporation.

He no longer cared whether he survived.

In fact, official material strongly implies that before meeting Aoba, Mink fully expected to die after completing his revenge.

He simply wanted to make certain Toue fell first.

Relationship with Aoba

Initially, Mink views Aoba as nothing more than a useful tool.

After witnessing Scrap, he realizes Aoba possesses abilities capable of helping destroy Toue.

Because of this, his early treatment of Aoba is harsh, manipulative, and often cruel.

Rather than trusting Aoba, he attempts to control him, believing emotional attachment would only weaken his mission.

As the story progresses, however, Aoba becomes the first person to see through Mink’s cold exterior and recognize the grief beneath it.

For perhaps the first time since losing his homeland, Mink begins to question whether revenge alone is enough to justify continuing to live.

Part 12

Mink (ミンク)

Complete Route, Emotional Development, Good Ending, Bad Ending, Re:connect, Relationships & Trivia

Beginning of Mink’s Route

Mink’s route is the darkest and most psychologically intense of the five main routes in DRAMAtical Murder. Unlike the gradual friendships formed in the other stories, Aoba’s relationship with Mink begins with coercion and mistrust.

Mink believes Aoba’s Scrap ability is the key to destroying Toue Corporation. He has no interest in romance or companionship. His only goal is revenge.

To achieve that goal, he kidnaps Aoba.

Why Mink Kidnaps Aoba

After confirming that Aoba possesses Scrap, Mink decides that persuasion would waste time.

Instead, Scratch captures Aoba and takes him to their hideout.

Mink intends to force Aoba to awaken and master Scrap.

From Mink’s perspective, this is not personal.

He sees Aoba as:

A weapon,

An opportunity,

The final piece needed to defeat Toue.

His inability to view Aoba as a person reflects how thoroughly grief has consumed him.

Their Early Relationship

At the beginning of the route, the relationship is hostile.

Mink is emotionally distant and frequently issues orders rather than requests.

He shows little concern for Aoba’s feelings.

Aoba, in turn, strongly resents Mink’s controlling behavior.

However, even during these early chapters, subtle moments reveal cracks in Mink’s emotional armor.

He ensures Aoba receives food.

He intervenes if others go too far.

He quietly watches Aoba’s condition after Scrap episodes.

He rarely explains these actions, but they hint that his compassion has not truly disappeared.

Learning About Scrap

Mink believes Scrap is the only force capable of opposing Toue’s mind-control technology.

He repeatedly pressures Aoba to access it deliberately.

Aoba resists because using Scrap risks harming innocent people and awakening “the Other Aoba.”

This disagreement becomes the central ideological conflict of the route.

For Mink, ends justify the means.

For Aoba, power without compassion only creates more suffering.

The Weight of Revenge

As the story progresses, Aoba learns the truth behind Mink’s obsession.

The destruction of his homeland was not simply an act of violence.

It erased everything that gave his life meaning.

His family, younger sister, fiancée, and community were all lost because of Toue’s actions.

Mink believes surviving when they did not is a burden rather than a blessing.

His revenge is driven as much by survivor’s guilt as by anger.

Survivor’s Guilt

One of the defining aspects of Mink’s character is his inability to forgive himself for living.

He constantly questions why he survived when so many others died.

Instead of seeking happiness, he convinces himself that his only remaining purpose is vengeance.

This mindset isolates him from everyone around him.

Even Scratch’s loyalty cannot fill the emptiness left by his past.

Aoba’s Influence

Unlike others who either fear or admire Mink, Aoba challenges him directly.

Aoba refuses to accept that revenge alone is enough to justify a life.

He repeatedly confronts Mink about his willingness to die after completing his mission.

These conversations slowly force Mink to reconsider beliefs he has held for years.

For perhaps the first time since the massacre, someone sees him as more than a weapon.

Scrap Dive

Eventually, Aoba uses Scrap to enter Mink’s subconscious.

Inside Mink’s mind, Aoba witnesses fragmented memories of:

His peaceful childhood,

Tribal ceremonies,

His family,

The destruction of his homeland,

Imprisonment,

Years of grief.

These memories reveal that beneath the stoic exterior is a man overwhelmed by sorrow.

Aoba helps Mink confront emotions he has buried for years rather than allowing them to continue controlling him.

Emotional Transformation

Following the Scrap dive, Mink undergoes one of the series’ most dramatic emotional changes.

He does not suddenly become cheerful.

Instead, he begins allowing himself to feel again.

He speaks more openly.

He gradually lowers the emotional walls he built after losing his homeland.

Most importantly, he accepts that continuing to live does not dishonor the people he lost.

Final Battle

Together, Aoba and Mink confront Toue’s forces.

Rather than treating Aoba as a disposable tool, Mink now fights beside him as an equal.

The mission that once represented only revenge becomes a struggle to protect the future.

This shift is the emotional climax of his route.

Good Ending

After Toue’s defeat, Mink abandons his plan to die.

Although the loss of his homeland can never be undone, he accepts Aoba’s belief that life still has value.

Following the events of the game, Mink disappears from Midorijima.

Aoba spends considerable time searching for him.

Eventually, he finds Mink living quietly in a remote natural region, surrounded by forests that remind him of his childhood home.

Their reunion is calm and understated.

Mink no longer seeks revenge.

Instead, he begins rebuilding a peaceful life with Aoba.

In DRAMAtical Murder re:connect, Mink is noticeably gentler.

He expresses affection more openly, though still in his reserved manner.

His relationship with Aoba is built on mutual respect rather than dependence.

Bad Ending

If Aoba fails to reach Mink emotionally during the Scrap sequence, the outcome is tragic.

Mink completes his revenge but remains spiritually empty.

Unable to process his grief, he psychologically dominates Aoba, breaking his will until Aoba becomes emotionally vacant and entirely dependent on him.

The exact presentation differs slightly between releases, but the core theme is the same: vengeance without healing destroys both of them.

Unlike the Good Ending, where Aoba helps Mink rediscover his humanity, the Bad Ending shows what happens when grief is allowed to consume every remaining part of a person’s identity.

Re:connect

In re:connect, Mink has changed significantly.

He remains quiet and stoic, but those close to him notice subtle differences.

He smiles occasionally.

He allows himself moments of happiness.

He openly worries about Aoba’s health.

He enjoys ordinary domestic life in ways that once seemed impossible.

His journey demonstrates that healing from trauma is gradual rather than instantaneous.

Relationships

Aoba Seragaki

Aoba becomes the first person capable of breaking through Mink’s emotional isolation.

Rather than encouraging revenge, Aoba teaches him that remembering the dead does not require sacrificing the living.

Their relationship evolves from coercion to genuine partnership.

Tori

Tori remains Mink’s closest companion throughout the story.

As an AllMate, Tori often acts as a quiet observer, reflecting Mink’s disciplined personality.

Although Mink rarely verbalizes affection, his trust in Tori is absolute.

Koujaku

Koujaku and Mink frequently clash due to their opposing personalities.

Koujaku is expressive and impulsive.

Mink is restrained and calculating.

Despite this, they develop a mutual respect while working toward the shared goal of stopping Toue.

Mink often refers to Koujaku simply as “Red.”

Noiz

Mink appreciates Noiz’s technical abilities and practical mindset.

Neither enjoys unnecessary conversation, making their interactions surprisingly efficient.

Mink nicknames him “Maniac.”

Clear

Initially, Mink considers Clear strange and overly cheerful.

Over time, he comes to respect Clear’s unwavering loyalty and courage.

Although their personalities remain very different, they cooperate effectively during combat.

Theme Songs

Official character themes include:

Sandy Weeds (DRAMAtical Murder)

Milky Ways (re:connect)

Soul Grace (Anime)

Angel (Drama CD)

These songs emphasize Mink’s progression from despair to hope.

Official Trivia

His eyesight has deteriorated due to extensive reading, and he uses reading glasses when necessary.
