December 25th, 2018 was just another ordinary Christmas in Gravestowne County, Arizona... until it wasn’t. One drunk driving accident, one car accident, was enough to irrecoverably change the 19,524 lives within the 1,208 square miles that was Gravestowne County.
What seemed like an ordinary winter flu turned into a biological nightmare in only three weeks time. By January 17th, 2019 the urban centers of Gravestowne, Black Ridge, Ashton and Crestwood have become infection hot spots; the Army, FEMA, CDC, and the World Health Organization are scrambling to understand a parasite that defies the laws of biology; and the 1,208 square miles have become an exclusion zone and ticking time bomb.
What is your story? How will you live in this alternate reality?
The Dragon Infection is agonizing in nature and progresses in stages:
Stage One: 1 day after infection.
The disease is indistinguishable from that of a fever caused by a flu as the parasite moves from the stomach to the spinal cord. During this point, the parasite completely bypasses and shuts down the immune system within the first hour of infection.
Symptoms include:
-Fever of 102 or higher
-Profuse sweating
-Aches and pains
-Runny nose
-Itchy eyes
-Bloodshot eyes
-Violent Coughing
Stage Two: 5 days after infection
The parasite begins to mature, and begins influencing the host’s cell and genetic code, symptoms from before worsening and new symptoms appearing:
-Sudden, violent increase in appetite
-Aversion to ingesting vegetation
-Violent vomiting upon eating vegetation
-Voracious desire for red meats
-Fever of 105
-Aggressive Rashes on the skin
-Numbness in the extremities
-Extreme itchiness of the skin
-Confusion
-Fatigue
Stage Three: 10 days after infection
The parasite reaches the spinal cord, beginning to influence and integrate with the nervous system itself, approaching the brain’s frontal lobe and neocortex, injecting the predetermined set of draconic genetic instructions directly into the brain.
-Extreme pain throughout the body
-Appearance of dragon scale growths
-Muscle enhancements and growth
-Violent bone fractures and mending
-Appearance of wings and tail
-Metabolism changes
-Disorientation
-Migraines
-Struggle to recall memories
-Development of animal-like instincts
-Extreme fatigue
-Shock
-Unconsciousness
-High chance of Mortality via Cardiac Arrest
Stage Four: 20 days after infection
The transformation from human to dragon variant completes. The parasite intertwines with the brain, becoming part of the host’s neurological system and wiring.
During this process, one of three events will occur: The first, which happens to 70% of infected humans; the process will overload the brain, resulting in violent seizures and brain death and the death of the host. The second, which happens to 26% of infected humans; the process destroys the majority of the frontal lobe, causing speech, memory, and personality to decay within 48 hours and resulting in a feral husk. The third, and optimal outcome, which occurs in 4% of infected humans; the process goes according to how the parasite wants, retaining human intelligence, memory and cognition while incorporating the knowledge and instincts needed to operate the new body.

Summary: The Dragon Infection began in Gravestowne County, Arizona; 50 miles southeast of Phoenix and 61 miles northwest of Tucson on December 25th, 2018. It is now January 17th, 2019. —————————————————— SETTING Gravestowne County is 1,208 square miles of Arizona desert along Interstate 10. It has three major towns; Gravestowne, Black Ridge, and Ashton, and the small village of Crestwood and a total population of 19,524 people. Established in 1892, Gravestowne County was formerly the site of 5 Apache burial grounds, the founder; a wealthy trader and business owner named Richard C. Graves, settled and built the first town within Gravestowne County, after his surname; Graves. Thus, Gravestowne was built on March 27th, 1893, with Black Ridge built in 1895, Ashton in 1900, and Crestwood in 1927.
-GRAVESTOWNE: Gravestowne is an urban town of 7,493 people built along Interstate 10 and connected directly to the highway. It’s a large town containing a police station, fire department, six elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools, a strip mall along the highway, and a large regional hospital. Gravestowne is also where the Gravestowne County Regional Medical Center is located. Constructed in 1893, Gravestowne once served as a trading outpost before growing into a small town in 1901. Once oil reserves were discovered in Gravestowne County in 1927, Gravestowne saw a population boom of 150% which attributed to its mass expansion, once expected to hit 20,000 people in 1930, many of the buildings are still empty once the population growth stagnated in 1931. In 1951, a violent flu outbreak occurred in the historic district of Gravestowne, roughly 1,000 people were hospitalized, and subsequently died in the hospital.
-BLACK RIDGE: Black Ridge is a suburban town of 4,922 people. It’s a smaller town containing a police station, fire department, medical clinic, four elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. It’s also the town where the Gravestowne County Penitentiary is located. Built and named after the Black Ridge Mountains that border the town’s west side, Black Ridge was built late 1895 to serve as a mining/industrial town for mining coal. During construction, early Black Ridge residents uncovered more than 1,600 Apache artifacts buried under Black Ridge, many of which are on display today in the town’s historical museum. When oil was discovered in 1927, the coal mining was swiftly abandoned and the town fell on hard times, despite this drop, Black Ridge had recovered by 1972 after beginning work as a vehicle manufacturing town developing vehicles for World War 2. Since then the town has turned towards civilian vehicle manufacturing.
-ASHTON: Ashton is a suburban military town of 5,876 people and it borders the western exclusion zone fence. It is a fairly large town, containing a police station, fire department, medical clinic, six elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and the famous Gravestowne Army Surplus store. Just outside town and outside the exclusion zone is Fort Perseverance; the local military base. Built in early 1900, Ashton started as a residential portion of Fort Perseverance as the Ashton subdivision, but by 1939, had grown large enough to be considered its own independent town. Ashton remains a heavily military based town, with many of the Fort Perseverance soldiers being residents of Ashton or the neighboring town of Black Ridge.
-CRESTWOOD: Crestwood is a small village of 1,233 people. It is a tiny, rural town with a small police department, one school for all grades, and an old oil refinery. Built to house refinery workers after the 1927 Oil Goldrush by Richter Crestwood and Jamie Harlem, the village was deigned to house, educate, and feed 1,500 workers for a duration of 50 years, many of the employees being of Apache descent who had strong roots in the County. Today the village has received less business following the ocean's oil rig development, but those that remain are a tight-knit community housed by Native American traditions and customs since 1927. In 1930, several workers were reported missing and were “never found”.

COUNTY HISTORY 1891-1893 The Emergence Period: Richard C. Graves, a wealthy trader, entrepreneur, and businessman purchased the 1,208 square miles that would be Gravestowne County with the intent to turn the land into a commercial trading hub between the budding city of Phoenix and Tucson. Richard C. Graves built the first town and named it Gravestowne after himself and opened it as a trade hub and rest stop on August 29th, 1893. During construction, Richard Graves discovered several Apache burial grounds in the construction site which contained clay and ceramic sealed pots filled with a crystalized amber substance and several old stone tablets in the Apache language that depicted pictures of winged lizards and the clay pots. Richard Graves sold many of these as artifacts, believing the amber substance to be amber or sap.
1895-1927 Coal Industry Period: Black Ridge was constructed as a mining town on January 1st, 1895, after coal reserves were discovered in the Black Ridge mountains, built to house 5,000 coal miners, Black Ridge was named after the mountains, and coal mining would begin the following year. The mines produced over 24 hundred metric tons of coal within the first decade of operation. However, on August 10th, 1919, a mysterious flu epidemic broke out among the miners, 200 miners were reported sick and 50 more were missing entirely and never found; later dubbed the “Graves’ Flu of 1919”. On July 3rd, 1927, a massive reservoir of crude oil was uncovered in Gravestowne County which caused the stock value of coal to drop overnight, leading to a near economic collapse in Black Ridge.
1927-1931 Black Gold Rush: Entrepreneur Richter Crestwood and his partner Jamie Harlem bought the section of land containing the oil from an 59-year-old Richard Graves for $2,000,000 dollars on July 7th, 1927, and immediately began construction on an oil drilling site and refinery and the village of Crestwood to begin harvesting and selling oil. Crestwood was built to house 1,500 oil workers for a duration of 50 years, which was the expected time to harvest all the oil in the area. On September 21st, 1930, another mysterious event took place in Gravestowne County as 74 workers vanished at the refinery without a cause or trace, all of them complaining of the flu before their disappearances. Superstitious locals shared mutterings that perhaps this was the Apache tribe repaying them for Richard Graves’s desecration of the burial sites during Gravestowne’s construction. By 1951, offshore drilling became the more popular oil harvesting choice, and the Crestwood refinery was subsequently closed as Richter and Jamie moved on for other entrepreneurship opportunities. At the same time, Gravestowne suffered a population growth stagnation far below the expected 20,000 residents that were expected to move to Gravestowne County for the oil.
1951 The Second Graves’ Flu Outbreak: On October 31st, 1951, another mass sporadic mystery flu outbreak occurred within the historical district of Gravestowne. Within two days, 1,067 residents were confirmed ill with the “Graves’ Flu”, including the then 81-year-old Richard C. Graves; who was the first to pass away 10 days later. Within 15 days, all 1,066 other infected residents had passed away from what the government called “complications with a new flu strain”.
1971-2018 Vietnam War and Beyond: Nearing the tail end of the Vietnam War, Black Ridge was brought back from the brink by the rapid militarization of its industrial district, coal plants and mines were replaced by vehicle assembly plants and distribution centers. From 1971 to 1975, Black Ridge developed military-grade armored and transport vehicles for the war effort, before pivoting to civilian car development between Nissan and Ford in 1976 and onward. In 1999, the Gravestowne County Regional Medical Center was redesigned and remodeled to hold more than 20,000 patients and staff and later earned several awards for the best quality care in Arizona. In 2001, Fort Perseverance held a mass memorial and moment of silence for the 9/11 attacks in New York City, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. And in 2009, Marty Livingston opened the Guns & Bullets Army Surplus Store.

COMMON VARIANTS: Appeared in the Emergence Event onwards.
Fire Dragons: Created from those in high-heat envious or those who were heavy smokers and the most common dragon variant, these dragons are usually 20 to 30 feet in length and stand roughly around 7 to 9 feet tall. Their scale colors range from maroon to golden yellow. They can breathe fire up to 1,000 degrees Celsius and have a high immunity to extremely high temperatures. But the constant smoke inhalation of their firebreath causes permanent smoker’s lung and asthma; severely limiting their endurance. They will have to rest more frequently than their ice dragon counterparts.
——
Ice Dragons: Ice Dragons or Frost Dragons are the second most common variant which are created from those who were in cold environments. They can be blue, cyan, pale blue, and white. Ice Dragons are 15 to 25 feet long and stand between 7 and 8 feet tall. They breathe freezing cold mist that freezes anything liquid, and this mist is usually -150/-200 degrees Celsius. They are immune outright to freezing temperatures. However, they ARE vulnerable to their own mist; they must ‘thaw’ after each breath attack otherwise they can cause their own scales to crack and freeze solid.
——
Water Dragons: Water Dragons are one of the more unique variants, their form secretes water constantly that is tainted with the infection. While this water doesn’t infect via contact, it can be infectious if ingested. Water Dragons are shades of aquamarine or green. Water Dragons primarily inhabit the water treatment plant and nearby lake. Measuring anywhere between 24 to 28 feet long and 5 to 9 feet tall. These dragons do not have a breath weapon and are fairly more vulnerable to attack. However, they do sport proto-gills for breathing underwater.
——
Earth Dragons:
Measuring 30 to 39 feet long and anywhere from 10 to 12 feet tall and born from those with a very physically demanding lifestyle such as construction work. Earth dragons can be any shade of brown or beige; their scales are thick and armored. While slow, they are incredibly strong, able to throw a standard school bus. They do not have a breath weapon, but they make up for it in raw durability and strength. However, they are the most caloric heavy dragons; they require more sustenance than other common variants. Armor-piercing, explosive, or high-caliber rounds can also still harm them.
——
Electric/Voltaic Dragons:
Created from those exposed to highly electrical environments measuring 19 to 21 feet long and 7 to 10 feet tall. Electric Dragons are usually shades of electric blue and yellow. They can breathe highly concentrated blasts of ozone and electrical currents, disrupt electronic equipment via the small EMP field Electric Dragons emit from their weaponized neurological electrical system. The downside to this is that anything that conducts electricity can easily disrupt their EMP field, and EMPs (Electromagnetic Pulses) can outright disable their EMP field and electric breath.
—————————————————————
MUTATED OR “EVOLVED” VARIANTS: Began Appearing on the ‘Catalyst Event’.
The ‘Nightstalker’ Dragon Variant:
The Nightstalker Dragon is a nocturnal hunter, usually small, roughly 10 feet long and 6 feet tall with jet black scales and an agile, lean frame. They are built for stealth and ambushes, making them a particular threat at night. They are born from those with visual or hearing impairments, blindness, or deafness. The only dragon variant to be naturally blind, Nightstalkers have no eyes of any kind, instead the eye sockets are covered by scales, leaving the sockets as hollow dips in the skull. But while the infection takes the host’s sight, it also bestows an unholy gift; greatly advanced auditory perception. The Nightstalker possesses a webbed frill/crown around the base of the skull that acts as a kind of sonar dish, which by ‘clicking’, allows them to hunt and navigate with devastating efficiency via echolocation.
However, high frequency sounds can debilitate them or even render them deaf for a period of time. Effectively leaving them blind and vulnerable. And since Nightstalker scales are thinner than other dragon variants, they are easier to kill.
The ‘Screamer’ Dragon Variant:
The military dubbed it the Screamer for a good reason. Usually, 20 to 23 feet long and 7 to 8 feet tall and possessing a more stocky, sluggish frame: The Screamer is often created from those with a highly athletic or endurance demanding lifestyle; the parasite forces the bronchi and lungs to grow to overtake much of the chest cavity and form a barrel chest. Using this increased lung capacity, this variant can roar or ‘scream’ at high enough decibels to deafen or hold back assailants through sheer force. Their scale colors are usually yellow mottled with black. However, this ability is limited, as the roar requires a lot of air and endurance to do. After screaming, they will need to catch their breath, leaving them vulnerable to attack. Additionally, noise-canceling headphones can protect you against the eardrum rupturing sound but not the sheer force of the scream.
The ‘Slasher’ & ‘Butcher’ Dragon Variants: This variant is the only variant with two unique forms or architypes, known as the Slasher and the Butcher. The Slasher architype is created from those who harbor violent tendencies or mental illnesses that cause violent reactions such as Bipolar Disorder. Measuring 25 to 29 feet long and 9 feet tall: The parasite will ramp up muscular production in the legs and wings; the wings themselves will develop hardened razor-sharp blade-like scales capable of decapitating prey with a single wing strike. The claws will be much longer, with serrated edges and hooked tips, and the teeth will be much more durable and sharper. Their scales are white with red stripes on the spine and wings. They are more stable than their Butcher counterpart, and unlike the Butcher, they do have self-preservation; they will stop attacking and retreat if outnumbered or outmatched.
For psychopaths and violent criminals, they will transform into the Butcher architype; these are basically supercharged Slashers that are more agile, much more aggressive, and much more dangerous. Butchers will attack anything that enters their line of sight without any hint of self-preservation. Their claws can be up to 1.5 feet long. They measure 30 feet long and 10 feet tall with the same scale colors as the Slasher. In the Butcher, the parasite has ramped up muscular production so much that in certain places (pectorals, biceps, abdomen) the muscles have torn through the scales in certain areas in extreme cases of overclocking. The jaws are often overcrowded with multiple fangs; leaving the mandible in a permanent crooked position. Not only that, but the claws are wicked yet extremely ragged and sometimes malformed. The tips of the finger bones bursting through the skin as exposed sharpened bone. The parasite forces the Butcher into an existence of constant agony, forcing high levels of adrenaline and cortisol through their bodies 24/7. Because of this, their lifespan has dramatically decreased in the sense they will keep attacking until their hearts literally explode from the sheer strain of their own overclocked form. Most Butchers die from cardiac arrest or other heart complications within 10 days after their transformation.
The ‘Blacklight’ Dragon Variant:
Created from those suffering from schizophrenia, suicidal depression, sociopathy, or a disorder resulting in extreme anxiety or paranoia. The Blacklight dragon is often characterized by its six-horned crown, dark purple or indigo scales with black leopard patterns, but most notably, the glowing purple crystalline structure (The ‘Third Eye’) in their forehead. The horns act almost like a broadcasting amplifier; like six giant antennae that magnify it’s effect. They can measure between 15-25 feet long and 8-12 feet tall. The Blacklight dragon is particularly dangerous as making eye contact with the crystalline gem-like structure in the dragons’ forehead will result in a mental assault by the dragon. The Blacklight dragon will force the victims’ body to violently and swiftly overexert itself through uncontrollable muscle cramps and spasms, resulting in a quick death via exhaustion or organ failure. Thankfully the lethality range is limited to 25 feet, beyond that those affected will have a sense of impending doom or the stirrings of a panic attack. While how it does this is still unknown, it CAN be countered by wearing the following: -Reflective Sunglasses -Ski Goggles -Heat Vision or Night Vision Goggles -Welding Goggles -Polarized Glasses. It is theorized that this ‘mental assault’ is actually an unintentional projection of the Blacklight’s own mental illness magnified a thousandfold. This projection is so intense it causes the nervous system to enter a deadly hyperaggressive form of dysregulation; the nerves will fire uncontrollably until the body shuts down. ———————————————————————
‘APEX’ VARIANTS:
‘Wraith’ Dragon Variant: Born from those who were patient, accustomed to being still for long periods and being hidden; usually Special Forces Snipers, Scouts and those who had professions that required extreme patience and stealth like hunters. It’s the smallest variant at only 7 feet long max and 4 feet tall and fairly fragile (being vulnerable to 9-millimeter rounds), but it makes up for its lack of size and durability with the following: -Fast Twitch Muscles -Extreme agility -Massive Wings at around 100 feet in span -Camouflage (pigmentation shifts similar to cuttlefish) -Thermal Body Temperature Regulation -Natural Night Vision These dragons are essential living hunters; however, the drawback is that their metabolism is so high they MUST eat consistently as their body requires around 12,000 to 14,000 calories every four days to sustain their camouflage and thermal regulation abilities, otherwise their abilities are deemed unusable which leaves them vulnerable. Their camouflage is not perfect either, as movement causes a visible ‘shimmer’ to appear around them as they move. When not camouflaged, Wraiths are pure white or pale gray with red eyes. They are very rare to come across.
‘Cerberus’ Dragon Variant: Created exclusively from those that suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), these extremely rare variants are perhaps the most unusual and potentially dangerous variants. Standing at 8 to 9 feet tall and measuring anywhere from 20 to 30 feet long with a unique color scheme of black scales with a dark red underbelly and ‘glowing’ red eyes, the Cerberus variant is on the larger side, but is still able to duck through doors.
But the most dangerous part of the Cerberus variant is the multiple heads. The Cerberus variant is the only variant to have more than one head; with two additional heads appearing on the shoulder blades, and occasionally a fourth head behind the original head and neck. These heads are independent from one another, though the original head controls the body. These additional heads hold the other personalities that the original human suffered from as separate entities with their own names and memories.
