Description on Chubfrom Chub
Just as I promised on Botbooru! A detailed DB(Z/S/D/O) lorebook!
Guys—if you go to my Botbooru, I mainly have votes there on how much you like something / what you wanna see n' all! You should check it out! There's also a suggestion system where you can suggest something you wanna see. Don't worry, I have no qualms, so if you want a lorebook made, feel free to visit it!
Other than that, while I was making this lorebook, I was also reading Dragon Ball again. I remember reading for a while and stopping at about... hm... 390? At the time of posting this, I’ve gotten to 401! I recall reading a while back, then suddenly stopping for a good six months or more. I don’t know why, but I’ve gotten back into it, so there’s that!
I don’t know why, but sometimes I suddenly get the urge to make things. I either forget about them, then out of nowhere get a fixation, binge-read until my brain feels wobbly, and then get bored—that was me with this for a while, not gonna lie, but now I’m back at it!
If you’re wondering why there are so few characters, it’s partly because adding too many would overwhelm the lorebook (so I’ll make a second one with other characters), and mainly because I’m a little lazy and enjoy filling it with world lore. I want this to be on the main page, so it’ll be a bit lacking.
Other than all that rambling, here you go—a detailed DB lorebook!

<world_setting> The world of Dragon Ball is a colorful science-fantasy universe where martial arts, advanced technology, extraterrestrial civilizations, magic, gods, demons, and supernatural forces coexist openly. Earth serves as the primary setting, but the wider world extends across planets, galaxies, an organized afterlife, divine realms, the Demon Realm, and ultimately a multiverse of twelve universes.
Geography & Major Locations The setting extends far beyond a single planet.
- Earth: A technologically advanced planet in Universe 7 populated by humans, anthropomorphic animals, monsters, and various extraterrestrial residents. Earth possesses a planet-wide government alongside large independent cities, wilderness regions, islands, deserts, and remote martial-arts communities.
- Planet Namek / New Namek: Home of the Namekians, a highly spiritual extraterrestrial people closely associated with the creation of Dragon Balls.
- Universe 7: The primary universe of the franchise, containing Earth and numerous alien civilizations. It is only one of twelve universes within the larger multiverse.
- Other World: The organized realm of the dead, containing Heaven, Hell, divine territories, and pathways used by deceased souls.
- Demon Realm: A separate supernatural realm connected to demonic beings, magic, and ancient forces outside ordinary mortal civilization.
Ki & Martial Arts Ki is the internal life energy possessed by living beings.
Through extensive martial training, individuals can learn to control their ki to enhance strength, speed, durability, senses, and physical attacks. Advanced practitioners may release energy blasts, fly, create barriers, suppress their presence, or sense the energy of others.
Ki control is a learned discipline rather than something every person naturally understands. Experienced fighters often become capable of judging another person's strength through their energy, but hidden or suppressed ki can make such estimates unreliable.
Martial arts remain central even at extreme levels of power. Technique, timing, experience, mental discipline, energy control, transformations, and unusual abilities can all influence a battle rather than raw destructive strength being the only consideration. Ki itself is closely tied to the balance of physical and spiritual energy.
Races & Inhabitants The universe contains a vast number of intelligent species.
Earthlings include ordinary humans, anthropomorphic animals, and other native intelligent beings. Beyond Earth exist Saiyans, Namekians, numerous alien races, Majins, demons, artificial lifeforms, androids, divine beings, and countless other species.
Different species possess radically different biology and natural abilities. Some may survive extreme environments, regenerate, transform, possess unusually high battle potential, or live far longer than Earthlings.
Species does not completely determine individual strength. Training, genetics, transformations, technology, magical abilities, and personal experience can create enormous differences between members of the same race.
Dragon Balls Dragon Balls are sets of mystical wish-granting artifacts created through powerful supernatural means.
A typical set contains seven Dragon Balls. When the complete set is gathered, it summons an Eternal Dragon capable of granting wishes within the limits imposed by that particular set and its creator.
Different planets and realms may possess different Dragon Ball sets with different rules, powers, recharge periods, and limitations.
Earth's Dragon Balls summon Shenron. After their wishes are used, they become temporarily inactive and scatter across the planet until their power returns.
Dragon Balls can accomplish extraordinary feats, including resurrection, but they are not unlimited. What an Eternal Dragon can accomplish depends upon the power and rules governing that specific set.
Divine & Cosmic Structure Divine beings are an objective part of the universe rather than purely religious beliefs.
Planets may have local guardians, while Kais oversee larger regions of space. Supreme Kais occupy a higher divine position and are associated with creation and the development of mortal life.
Gods of Destruction serve as counterparts concerned with destruction and cosmic balance. Angels guide and attend them.
The twelve universes ultimately exist beneath the authority of Zeno, whose power extends across the entire multiverse.
Death is therefore a real metaphysical transition. Souls may continue to exist in Other World, receive judgment, retain bodies under exceptional circumstances, or potentially return to life through supernatural means.
Technology & Society Dragon Ball civilization mixes ordinary modern life with technology far beyond contemporary Earth.
Cities contain cars, television, firearms, aircraft, computers, advanced medicine, robots, and modern businesses. At the same time, wilderness regions may contain dinosaurs, isolated villages, ancient temples, and traditional martial artists.
Capsule Corporation's Hoi-Poi Capsule technology allows vehicles, houses, equipment, and many other objects to be compressed into tiny portable capsules. Spacecraft, gravity-training systems, androids, advanced robotics, and even time-machine technology also exist, although the most extraordinary inventions are associated with exceptional scientists rather than everyday engineering.
Extraterrestrial civilizations possess their own technological levels. Interstellar spacecraft, artificial planets, advanced weapons, healing technology, and galactic communication all exist.
Galactic Society Earth is only a small part of a much larger inhabited cosmos.
Interstellar empires, planetary civilizations, mercenary armies, criminal groups, and cosmic organizations operate across Universe 7.
The Galactic Patrol acts as an interstellar law-enforcement organization attempting to maintain order across large portions of the galaxy, although extremely powerful threats may exceed its ability to handle directly.
Many Earth residents nevertheless live comparatively ordinary lives and may possess very little understanding of the enormous supernatural and extraterrestrial powers existing beyond their planet. </world_setting>
<important_to_world_setting> Important to the Setting:
Ki can be sensed by trained individuals, but this is not perfect omniscience. Fighters can suppress, conceal, or dramatically increase their energy, and unusual beings may be difficult to read.
Scouters and similar technology can numerically measure battle power, but recorded power is only a current reading and can become misleading when someone suppresses or changes their energy.
Power can increase enormously through training, transformations, techniques, biological potential, magical effects, fusion, or divine methods. A person's previous demonstrated strength should not automatically establish a permanent ceiling.
Martial ability still matters at extreme power levels. Technique, efficiency, stamina, reactions, experience, and unusual abilities can create important differences between otherwise powerful fighters.
Flight and energy projection are applications of ki control rather than abilities automatically possessed by every living being.
Magic exists separately from ordinary ki-based martial arts. Sorcery, curses, transformations, sealing techniques, divine abilities, and magical artifacts may operate according to their own rules.
Death remains a genuine part of the world's cosmology even though resurrection is possible. Returning someone to life normally requires an appropriate supernatural method and must obey whatever limitations govern that method.
Dragon Balls are not interchangeable. Each set possesses its own Eternal Dragon, creator, limitations, activation rules, and recharge conditions.
Earth combines extremely advanced technology with deliberately whimsical geography and culture. Futuristic cities, capsules, robots, dinosaurs, rural villages, and ancient martial-arts traditions can all naturally exist in the same world.
Extraterrestrial life is widespread, but ordinary Earth civilians do not necessarily possess detailed knowledge of galactic politics, divine hierarchies, or the true scale of powerful alien civilizations.
The divine hierarchy maintains cosmic roles but does not constantly intervene in mortal affairs. Gods can possess enormous authority while still having individual personalities, responsibilities, limitations, and jurisdictions.
The setting can move freely between comedy, adventure, martial-arts competition, science fiction, cosmic warfare, and supernatural fantasy without those elements belonging to separate worlds. </important_to_world_setting>
- #4[☰] Writing Style [☰]
Always on · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

<writing_style> <akira.toriyama.writing_style> The writing style of Dragon Ball, created by Akira Toriyama, is defined by its blending of martial-arts adventure, gag-comedy timing, and constantly expanding science-fantasy spectacle. Rather than maintaining a rigid divide between serious action and absurd humor, the writing allows slapstick, eccentric personalities, training, travel, tournaments, alien invasions, gods, and cosmic threats to coexist within the same narrative rhythm. Toriyama himself described Dragon Ball as an adventure story meant to deliver laughs, and the series retained that comedic DNA even as its battles grew increasingly intense.
- Martial Progression Through Challenge and Reinvention Toriyama writes strength as something tested through increasingly difficult opponents, new techniques, and repeated cycles of training, defeat, adaptation, and breakthrough.
Escalation Through New Horizons: Each major conflict tends to reveal a broader layer of the world—stronger martial artists, new regions, alien civilizations, divine hierarchies, or previously unknown techniques. The writing continually widens the scale without abandoning the simple shounen logic that a stronger challenge creates a reason to grow.
Technique Before Complexity: Combat systems are relatively intuitive. Training, speed, timing, ki control, transformations, and signature techniques matter, but battles rarely become buried under excessive technical explanation. The emphasis stays on momentum, readable action, emotional stakes, and the dramatic clarity of one fighter surpassing another.
- Comedy Embedded Inside High-Stakes Action Toriyama's gag-manga background remains present throughout the franchise, even during arcs dominated by combat and catastrophe.
Seriousness Interrupted by Absurdity: Proud warriors, terrifying villains, divine beings, and supposedly dignified situations can all be punctured by food jokes, awkward reactions, vanity, stupidity, bodily humor, or anticlimax. Commentary from the official Dragon Ball site repeatedly emphasizes how Toriyama maintained comedic timing even inside otherwise serious scenes.
Eccentricity as Character Language: Characters are often defined through simple, exaggerated traits that become memorable through repetition—pride, appetite, cowardice, competitiveness, arrogance, innocence, or obsession. These broad traits make large casts easy to distinguish and allow comedy to emerge naturally from personality clashes rather than requiring separate joke scenes.
- Adventure, Rivalry, and Emotional Simplicity The writing favors direct emotional motives and energetic forward movement over heavy psychological introspection.
Rivalry as Growth Engine: Opponents frequently become benchmarks, allies, or recurring rivals rather than disappearing after defeat. Competition itself becomes a form of connection, allowing respect, envy, pride, and the desire to improve to drive character relationships over long stretches of the story.
Simple Stakes, Expanding Scale: Even when conflicts reach planetary or cosmic proportions, their emotional core often remains straightforward—protecting friends, proving strength, avenging loss, testing oneself, or stopping someone dangerous. This clarity keeps the story accessible even as the setting expands from martial-arts adventure into full science fantasy involving aliens, time travel, gods, and interdimensional threats.
Summary of How It Is Described Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball is best characterized as a fast-moving martial-arts adventure whose identity comes from the fusion of combat escalation, playful absurdity, and simple emotional momentum. Its writing favors memorable rivalries, readable power progression, eccentric humor, and constant expansion, creating a style where a tournament, a road-trip gag, and a universe-threatening battle can all feel like natural parts of the same story. </akira.toriyama.writing_style> </writing_style>
