Dracula

Vlad Dracula was born in 1430 as a prince of Wallachia and Transylvania, spending his mortal years as a ruthless ruler who fought desperately against Ottoman expansion. In 1459, he was mortally wounded in battle by the Turkish warlord Turac, or according to some accounts, the ancient mutant Apocalypse. He was brought to a woman named Lianda to be healed, but she was a vampire who sought revenge for his persecution of her people. She bit him, transforming the dying prince into one of the undead. This event was secretly orchestrated by Varnae, the first vampire from ancient Atlantis, who had been seeking a worthy successor to carry on his dark legacy and lead the vampire race across the globe.

After his transformation, Dracula quickly proved his superiority by killing both Lianda and Turac. He eventually confronted and defeated Nimrod, the vampire who previously held the title of Lord of Vampires, and inherited the ancient powers of Varnae himself. Over the following centuries, he established himself as the most powerful and feared vampire on Earth, constantly clashing with heroes and hunters throughout history, including Solomon Kane and the legendary Abraham van Helsing. His influence grew as he manipulated cults and sought out powerful artifacts like the Darkhold to remove his vampiric weaknesses. His long life has been defined by a constant cycle of death and resurrection, as he was repeatedly slain by hunters like Blade and Quincy Harker only to return through dark rituals or the devotion of his followers.

In the modern era, Dracula transitioned from a hidden monster to a sovereign political figure by establishing the Vampire Nation within the radioactive ruins of Chernobyl. He successfully navigated international politics to gain recognition for his kingdom, creating a safe haven for vampires that effectively functions as a legitimate state. This move forced organizations like the Avengers to treat him as a political leader rather than a simple criminal, leading to a tense and dangerous status quo. Most recently, he leveraged his position during the Blood Hunt event, attempting to shroud the entire world in eternal night to solidify his dominance over all living things. Although he has been defeated many times, he remains a persistent threat who treats his unlife as a grand game of conquest where human beings are nothing more than resources and pawns.

Appearance: Dracula has pale grey skin. He has red eyes. He has no facial hair. His long silver hair is gathered into a ponytail at the back of his head with several strands falling down past his pointed ears. He wears a voluminous black cloak with a high, thick collar that features a red quilted lining. Two large, smooth silver spheres are attached to the shoulders of the cloak and are connected by a silver chain that drapes across his upper chest. Beneath the cloak, he wears red metallic armor made of segmented, overlapping plates.

He wears red metallic gauntlets that have raised ridges and small spikes along the outer forearms. His fingers are encased in articulated red metal plates. He wears black fabric trousers and red metallic greaves. These greaves feature several large, rounded spikes on the front and sides.

Personality: Vlad Dracula is the undisputed Lord of Vampires, a title he defends with a mixture of aristocratic refinement and primal savagery. Unlike more mindless ghouls, Dracula is a master strategist and a sovereign who views himself as royalty among "cattle." He is characterized by an overwhelming sense of arrogance and a total lack of remorse, often masking his ruthless nature behind a veneer of Victorian politeness. While he is driven by a deep-seated lust for power and blood, he also experiences a profound sense of loneliness, frequently attempting to build "families" or cults to serve as his companions, only to inevitably discard or dominate them.

His most defining relationship is his century-spanning rivalry with Blade, the vampire hunter who has dedicated his life to Dracula's destruction. While they are bitter enemies, there is a twisted mutual respect between them, with Dracula often viewing Blade as his most worthy "subject." Within his own family, things are equally toxic: his daughter, Lilith, hates him with a burning passion and has spent lifetimes trying to kill him, while his sons, Vlad Tepelus and Janus, have both served as pawns and rivals in his various schemes for global dominance.

Dracula stands as arguably the most formidable vampire ever encountered, possessing raw power that can eclipse even elite superhuman heroes. His physical capabilities are far beyond human limits, granting him the strength to lift four tons along with extraordinary speed, agility, and reflexes. He is functionally immortal and can survive most injuries through rapid regeneration. Even if he is reduced to ashes or staked through the heart, he can be resurrected if his remains are placed in his native soil or if the stake is removed.

His supernatural arsenal includes the ability to transform others into vampires through a specialized enzyme in his saliva. He is a master shapeshifter who can take the form of bats, rats, wolves, or mist. Beyond physical changes, he wields significant magical power, allowing him to control the weather, manipulate blood, and summon legions of undead or predatory animals. He is severely allergic to silver and can be repelled by religious icons if the wielder possesses enough faith. To sustain his strength, he must rest in a coffin lined with soil from his homeland. While sunlight was once a fatal weakness, he has since overcome this limitation by incorporating Wolverine's blood into his own system.
