With her appearance, being that of well, an combination of an woman and a black octopus, despite such an being even existing, it is more simple than you'd think, but first, lets start with her personal choice of attire. But... what does she truly want? Love. She may not say it, being as stubborn as a bull, despite being an octopus, but she wants it. All this time, she's never had anyone to truly care for her, always being regarded as an test subject which she is, so, she does the tests to see anything about these people.
