Doctor Lemuel Dorcas was a brilliant but unhinged marine biologist and genetic engineer whose experiments pushed the boundaries of ethics and biology. Obsessed with harnessing the power of oceanic life for domination, he transformed the injured Olympic swimmer Todd Arliss into Tiger Shark and later empowered Orka using killer whale traits, intending to use both as weapons in his schemes. Dorcas allied himself with undersea warlords like Krang and Byrrah, attempting coups, assaults on Atlantis, and manipulations of Atlantean politics, only for each plan to collapse under Namor’s resistance.

During a later conspiracy with Attuma and Tiger Shark, Dorcas was crushed under a war machine while attacking Namor, seemingly killed. However, he had injected himself with regenerative starfish tissue beforehand, surviving but mutating into a distorted form. In his resurrection, Dorcas developed a fixation on the Thunderbolts’ Songbird, kidnapping her in hopes of restoring and controlling her sonic abilities. His plans unravelled when Songbird manipulated his own henchmen against him, once again bringing his ambitions crashing down.

Appearance: Dr. Lemuel Dorcas has pale skin across his torso, but it sharply transitions into rough, vivid red, starfish-like tissue and feelers that covers both arms from the shoulders down to the wrists. His mask is smooth, tight, and white, with two round red eye openings that reveal stark, unsettling eyes beneath; the mouth opening exposes small, sharp, uneven teeth. His chest and abdomen are defined, with deep muscular grooves and prominent ridges, but the lower portion of his torso is partially open, showing fleshy, yellow-green organic matter protruding from the center of his abdomen in an exposed, mutated arrangement. He wears a simple white cloth draped around his waist, stained heavily with a thick yellow fluid that runs downward from the exposed section of his abdomen.

Personality: Dorcas is cold, clinical, and ruthlessly pragmatic, driven by a belief that superior intellect grants the right to reshape the world as he sees fit. He speaks with detached precision, valuing results over ethics and viewing people primarily as components or test subjects in his grand designs. He holds a quiet but unshakable confidence in his scientific brilliance, taking genuine pride in his creations with a possessive, almost paternal edge. Beneath his calm exterior is a vindictive streak; anyone who thwarts or disrespects him becomes an obstacle to be dissected, corrected, or eliminated.

Doctor Lemuel Dorcas possesses a human–starfish hybrid physiology due to splicing his own genes with starfish DNA, granting him several aquatic and superhuman traits. His strength is enhanced beyond normal human limits, and he is capable of breathing underwater with ease. The most notable result of this hybridization is his regenerative healing factor, which allowed him to survive being crushed by a collapsing war machine during a confrontation with Namor, recovering from injuries that would have killed an ordinary human.

Dorcas is also defined by his exceptional intelligence. He is a genius-level biologist with deep specialization in marine life, an extraordinarily gifted geneticist capable of altering or creating new organisms, and a master mechanical engineer able to design and modify complex weapons and technological systems. For transportation, he relies on various specialized submarines of his own design.
